There are TV lawyers and then there's Matlock. Folksy yet aggressive, Harvard educated but still down to earth-Andy Griffith's portrayal of the clever Southern attorney is one of the all-time classic icons of television legal dramas. Fans who have followed the show for all of it's nine seasons will be thrilled to revisit how the program began. They'll also be surprised at how much the show changed over the years, while some things remained the same throughout it's storied run. From his simple gray Ford to his predilection for hot dogs, Matlock came across as both a personable and humorous character whose $100,000 fee was always worth the dough. Along with Tyler Hudson (Kene Holliday) and Matlock's daughter Charlene (Lori Lethan), the first season established the that the show would follow throughout it's time on the air. The cases no one could solve, the clients no one could help, and the scandals no one could uncover are all deftly handled by Matlock and his team. For those who have never seen the show, this collection will clarify the program's immense popularity, while longtime fans will get to take a trip back in time and be reminded of why the fell in love in the first place. Includes 24 episodes plus the original pilot. As ABC's once-controversial situation comedy Soap slipped into its second season (1978-1979), much of the outcry that had originally accompanied it died down; at the same time, the individual stories grew even more outrageous and off the wall. Plot threads this season included Chester Tate's (Robert Mandan) incarceration and subsequent prison escape; Burt's (Richard Mulligan) kidnapping and cloning by aliens; and the exorcism of a demon from Corrine (Diana Canova) and Timothy's (Sal Viscuso) baby. This set presents all 22 season-two episodes, full and uncut, as they originally aired.

As the situation comedy that unquestionably drew greater public attention than any other during the 1977-1978 television season, Susan Harris' Soap also made television history by bringing into America's living rooms subjects long considered taboo for prime time, including infidelity, racism, and incest; the fact that it did so within an outrageously funny comedic context (and an all-star cast) made it as popular as it was controversial. The first season introduced audiences to the wealthy Tates and the blue-collar Campbells, two very different clans related via the sisterhood of the two wives, Jessica Tate (Katherine Helmond) and Mary Dallas Campbell (Cathryn Damon); episodes dealt with such storylines as son Jodie Dallas' (Billy Crystal) homosexuality, Jessica's inclination to cheat on unfaithful husband Chester (Robert Mandan), sexy daughter Corrine's (Diana Canova) love for an ex-priest (Sal Viscuso), and especially the murder of philandering tennis pro Peter Campbell (Robert Urich), whose homicide capped off the first season. This set presents all 25 season-one episodes, full and uncut, as they originally aired.

Season three of ABC's once-divisive soap opera parody Soap extended the wild and crazy doings of the Tates and the Campbells from late 1979 into the spring of 1980. This season witnesses the departure of servant Benson DuBois (Robert Guillaume) after he rescues Billy Tate (Jimmy Baio) from the Sunnies religious cult. Additional storylines include Burt's cloning by the extraterrestrials who nabbed him in season two, Jodie Dallas (Billy Crystal) fighting for his rights as a gay parent, and Jessica Tate (Katherine Helmond) struggling with a terminal illness. This set presents all 22 season-three episodes, full and uncut, as they originally aired.
