Adapter not compatible

I tried connecting an older monitor to my laptop. The male dvi port on the adapter does not fit in my laptop port. This adapter has some extra pins that does not work with my set up.
My Best Buy number: 2364730579
What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: Not compatible
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
