This version of King Kong, starts off slow, but once they hit the island, the movie kicks into high gear. Amazing effects, and you have never seen King Kong quite like this. The Island is amazing!!! Kong has such a great place too live. The bugs, watch out for the bugs!!!
The history of the Alien series has been a mixed one both in terms of box-office success and critical acclaim, and this is perhaps unwittingly reflected this in Fox's treatment of The Alien Legacy Box Set. The first two films of the series were revolutionary in their own way, each breaking some sort of new ground (Alien is still the film to which all other monster/survival films are compared), whereas the last two were seen as merely run-of-the-mill sci-fi horror films. Consequently, the first two discs of this set are packed with extras, while Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are almost identical in their lack thereof. This disc contains theatrical trailers for all four Alien films, as well as a short making-of featurette, all of which can be accessed by very nicely done, clean, animated menus. The positive side of these similarities is that Resurrection shares Alien 3's technical superiority. This is an absolutely pristine transfer which serves director Jean-Pierre Jeunet's direction well. The visuals have an almost European, arthouse sensibility to them, and to present them poorly would have been an injustice; fortunately, that is not the case. There are three audio tracks: French Dolby surround, English Dolby surround, and a very strong English 5.1 mix which makes good use of all channels to produce a distinctive atmosphere. As with the previous disc, don't expect a lot of extra information with this one, but the quality of the presentation is top-notch.

I enjoyed the first 3 more. I see why they borught the franchise back. That is too make money or course. Good film here though with great Alien Special effects. Very enjoyable, just not as much as the first 3.
William Malone's remake of William Castle's classic spook story House on Haunted Hill scored high marks for special effects and humor but is basically inferior to the original. Malone's version does, however, get the benefit of this superb DVD repackaging, which does much to compensate for the movie's frailties. An excellent anamorphic widescreen transfer of the film gives it a crisp, balanced look, with no visible flaws or defects. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track has clearly been mixed to prioritize the sound effects rather than the dialogue, ensuring that all the eerie creaks and clanks are rendered with maximum impact. The disc comes with an excellent array of additional features, including the original theatrical trailers for both Malone's and Castle's films. The 20-minute "Tale of Two Houses" featurette analyzes the two versions in some depth and is thoroughly absorbing, even if it leaves the viewer surer than ever that Castle's original is the better of the two. Six behind-the-scenes mini-documentaries explain many of the undeniably impressive special effects used in the film, and among the DVD-ROM features is a silly but mildly entertaining game called "Escape from the House." Director Malone introduces the deleted footage from the movie, including a strangely low-key but amusing epilogue, and explains the reasons for the deletions. He also provides a commentary track, and his observations are generally very interesting and incisive. House on Haunted Hill may be only a moderately successful horror film, but judged on its own terms this is an outstanding disc.

Good gore and some good spooks in this remake. I bought this and enjoyed it. The story is good and like I said there are some spooky jump out at you scenes as well as gore. Enjoy
Rob Reiner's effective adaptation of Stephen King's Misery comes to DVD with two different images. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Spanish and French subtitles are also available. Supplemental features include a collectible booklet, the original theatrical trailer, and a teaser trailer. Though the film is short on extras, Kathy Bates' Academy Award-winning performance makes this a disc worth watching.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Kath Bates is brilliant in this film. Makes you wonder how many fans of famous people out there are like her character is. Good time, and a good price these days on this movie.
Fred Walton's cult favorite horror film When a Stranger Calls comes to DVD with a pair of images. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame transfer. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include bonus trailers. While fans will be thrilled to finally have the film on DVD, this is a less than spectacular release from Columbia/TriStar.

This is a older movie, but still has its spooky elements, This isnt a horror movie, but it does pull at you psychologically. Some good spook scenes and this movie might make you not want too babysit!!!
Not only do They Live, but they're already here and ready to enslave the human race in Universal's release of director John Carpenter's paranoid sci-fi actioner. Presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and offering audio rendered in closed-captioned English Dolby Digital Surround, this release also offers optional Spanish and French subtitles.

This was actually a very good action sci-fi movie. Rowdy Roddy Piper stars in this movie and actually does a very good job in it. This movie has one of the best street fight scenes in a movie. It seems too last about 5 minutes. This movie is well worth buying.
Death and mayhem follow the kids of Elm Street like an overcast cloud in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, the fifth entry in this popular horror series. New Line has done a good job on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Also included on this disc is a pan-and-scan version of the film. This is a very nice-looking transfer with colors and black levels all looking well saturated and even. The only flaw that shows up in a few scenes is a small amount of grain or dirt. The audio is presented in a newly remixed 5.1 soundtrack (as well as the original 2.0 soundtrack). This new mix works great in the confines of the film, utilizing surround sounds on many scary occasions. All aspects of the dialogue, effects, and music are free of any excessive distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc are English captions. The only extra features available on this edition of A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child are some cast and crew bios, the original theatrical trailer, and some DVD-ROM content. While the video and audio portions of the disc are good, the box set of all seven films is recommended for true fans.

I only recommend this movie, well because it has Freddy in it. This isnt a very good movie, although Freddy does make it somewhat enjoyable. Theire are some good gore scenes and whatnot, but by far in this series, this movie is bad.
David Fincher's sci-fi feature debut Alien 3 comes to DVD in this two-disc Collector's Edition from 20th Century Fox. Presented with a widescreen 2.35:1 color transfer. Dolby Digital Surround soundtracks are available in English and Spanish. English and Spanish subtitles are also accessible. Disc one contains the original 1992 theatrical version along with the 2003 Special Edition version with 30 minutes of additional footage. Audio commentary is provided by cinematographer Alex Thompson, editor Terry Rawlings, and various members of the visual effects team. Disc two contains all of the special features. Behind-the-scenes featurettes include "Development: Concluding the Story," "Xeno-Erotic: Giger's Redesign," "Optical Fury: Visual Effects," and "Adaptive Organism: Creature Design." Also includes multi-angle studies, photo galleries, and storyboards. Other bonus material explores the music, editing, and artwork. This is a highly recommended disc for fans of the saga.

Joe Dante's charming but uneven kiddie sci-fi flick Explorers comes to DVD for the first time thanks to Paramount Home Video. Upon its initial theatrical release, the film included a few scenes that the director hadn't been able to trim before it hit the big screen, though he was later able to cut them out of the home-video versions in the States. This DVD reclaims those scenes and adds them into the package as additional material, but don't look for any Dante commentary here as well, nor any other extra features. Presentation is key with this disc, and it's admittedly a good one. Backed by a quality anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track, Explorers dishes out some fine home-theater love to those who can appreciate it. The lack of any other extras might disappoint some, but at least the film has been upgraded to the digital age and given a bit of respect in the process.
