Sean S. Cunningham's slasher masterpiece Friday the 13th comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials are limited to theatrical trailers. Considering this film's iconic status, it is a disappointment that more extras were not put on this DVD release. All in all, the picture quality on this disc is strong enough to make it worthwhile for a genre enthusiast.

This is the bes tof The Friday the 13th's and Jason doesn't even make an appearance until the very end. His mom does it all. Lots of cool death scenes and the creepy music!!! Very good movie!!
What's great about it: Ultimate classic Slasher Flick
What's not so great: For its time nothing.

Although given a lukewarm reception by critics and the public upon its release, The Thing, like so many of John Carpenter's films, has since acquired a fiercely loyal cult following, and MCA Home Video will have fans of the chilly sci-fi horror in rapture with this outstanding reissue DVD. Originally released in 1998, this Collector's Edition is an exact replica of the previous disc, except for the chilly slipcase packaging. Picture-wise, the film's immaculate whites and cold blues are clean and sharp, and the polar landscapes are awe-inspiring in widescreen. Carpenter is renowned for his inventive use of sound effects and music, and the Dolby 5.1 Audio truly heightens the film's suspense. There is also a mind-boggling array of extra features on the DVD. The theatrical trailer, production notes, and biographies of Carpenter and star Kurt Russell are welcome, but they pale in comparison to most of the other additions. The production archives section, for example, is an extensive combination of text and photos that concentrates on Rob Bottin's eye-popping special effects, and equally interesting is the production art showing early designs of the alien creature. The background archive will interest would-be screenwriters, as it uses pages from the original draft to show how the film took shape. Of the countless other bits and pieces, the outtakes section is surest to please confirmed fans, even though the stills and deleted scenes here are of a mainly expository nature (though at least one deleted scene will delight fans of the movie's sardonic humor). Yet even if it had none of the aforementioned special features, this would be an essential DVD due to the commentary track and 80-minute documentary "Terror Takes Shape". The latter, featuring contributions from all the main players, is an utterly engrossing background to the conception and production of The Thing, and also includes spectacular stop-motion footage that was not used in the final version. The commentary by Carpenter and Russell, meanwhile, is a winning blend of astute analysis and warm recollection that is always enjoyable and occasionally hilarious. This is a wonderful DVD package that will give pleasure to even casual fans of the film.

This box set contains all 23 episodes from the second season of Millennium, the Chris Carter-created series that followed the life and career of serial-killer profiler Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) as he struggled to deal with the psychological ramifications of his work and how it affected his family. Each episode is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio. A smattering of extra features allows the viewer to get a glimpse of the making of the show.

I thought this movie was dark and brilliant like the video games are. I was very suprised at how well this movie was done. The special effects are amazing as well as the creatures and most things about this movie. I highly recommend this movie.

Anaconda slithers onto single-layered DVD with two picture format options: widescreen anamorphic (2.35:1 theatrical aspect ratio) and standard full-screen (1.33:1 aspect ratio). Sound/audio options include the following: English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), English (Dolby Digital 5.1), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), and French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), with subtitles available in English, Spanish, and French. Closed captioning is also available. Despite the effort put into remastering the sound -- which is superbly resonant and crisp -- and providing a crystal-clear picture, special or bonus features on this DVD are limited to the usual original theatrical trailers.

Most people consider this a corny movie or just a joke of a movie. I bought it and watched it not too long ago, and actually enjoyed it for the most part. lost of action and just all around fun.

The DVD extras on the shark thriller Deep Blue Sea contain bountiful "making of" information. "When Sharks Attack!" is a documentary highlighting the blend of real sharks, models, and computer effects that were used in the film. While far from comprehensive, seeing the actors swimming with real sharks is engaging. An explanation of the use of music within the film is also interesting. "The Sharks of the Deep Blue Sea" is a short documentary more specifically aimed towards the technology used for the models of the sharks. There is overlap between the two documentaries. Deleted scenes can be viewed with commentary by director Renny Harlin, who explains why each scene was left out. The film as a whole can also be watched with the commentary of the director and one of the film's stars, Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson's commentary adds interest and amusement but unfortunately is only featured in the first half of the track. A theatrical trailer and production stills are provided. The Deep Blue Sea package also has DVD-ROM features, including screensaver, poster, chat room links, interview clips with cast and production crew, and web links to other shark sites that can all be accessed from the original website.
