Learn more about Bioshock - Xbox 360. (Flash demo) SynopsisImagine flying high above the arctic seas, anxiously awaiting your descent to dry land. Without warning, the plane plummets to the cold and unforgiving water at unimaginable speed. Once the aircraft makes contact, you realize that falling from the skies is only the beginning of this nightmare. Wrenched into Rapture, a doomed city beneath the sea, you come across a rusted bathysphere. You learn that this once idealistic society, the brainchild of a hopeful group of scientists, artists and industrialists, now has corpses littering the city limits.Going beyond run-and-gun corridors BioShock presents a unique and unpredictable first-person shooter experience in real time. In order to survive an onslaught of assailants, you must take control of your world by hacking mechanical devices, capturing security towers and crafting items to protect yourself. Upgrade your weapons and genetically modify your body to evade the grotesque ghouls who are after you. Make meaningful choices and mature decisions to ultimately answer the question: Should you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture or save them?

Lives up to the hype

I had played BioShock's predecessor, System Shock 2 years ago on the PC. It is still one of my favorite games to date, so I went into BioShock with eager anticipation, as well as some high expectations.
I was not disappointed.
The game grabs you from the beginning as you crash into the ocean and discover the underwater utopia of Rapture. Without giving too much away, it is quickly apparent that all is not ideal in this city beneath the waves.
The story itself is thoroughly interesting, although a little ambiguous from the get go. You don't know much about your nameless, faceless character other than you are the sole survivor of the crash, and as you travel through the game world, you learn more about the fate of the denizens of the city through audio diaries, as well as various clues scattered throughout.
The graphics, being on a next-gen system, are superb. From the rippling water effects to the flickering fire, everything is stunningly rendered.
My only complaint with the game lies in the control scheme, there is no option to remap buttons and switching weapons on the fly can be pretty clunky, especially in the midst of one of the games many intense firefights.
All in all, the game is thoroughly entertaining and definitely worth the price tag. While admittedly, it's losing out a lot of its FPS audience to Halo 3, for a different kind of single player experience, I recommend checking out BioShock.
What's great about it: Incredible graphics, engaging story, exciting game play
What's not so great: Controls could use a little tweaking
I would recommend this to a friend!
