In addition to containing all three of Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future films, this box set contains a wealth of extras that give viewers a look at the making of the beloved sci-fi franchise.

This ranks as one of my favorite trilogies. Back to the Future 1-3 are, unquestionably, among the best time-travel movies ever made.
It starts in 1985 when Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) accidentally takes a time machine back to 1955 and inadvertantly alters history. With the help of Doc Brown (Christopher Llyod), he must return to his own time. Later, Doc and Marty travel to the future and to the Old West.
All three movies have lots of action, great comedy and some superb visual effects. Doc Brown is one of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy characters and Christopher Lloyd does a great job as the eccentric scientist.
The portions that takes place in the past are all very well thought out. Sometimes when you see period pieces, you may notice something that does not fit in with the era, but the 1955 scenes are all consistent with 1985 and the 1885 Western scenes are all consistent with that time and the Western genre. Excellent work by the set designers and prop masters!
The Blu-Ray transfer on all three movies is flawless. I have never seen these movies look so good, and I've seen them in theaters as well as on VHS and DVD. The picture is clear and sharply detailed and the sound is outstanding. Universal did a fantastic job with bringing this trilogy to Blu-Ray.
The extras include the features from the DVD releases as well as some new retrospective piueces exclusive to Blu-Ray. My favorite extra feature was the interview with noted physicist Michio Kaku when he discussed the physics and mechanics of time travel. It seems Back to the Future is the only accurate representation of time-travel in movies! One thing I found tragic was to see Michael J. Fox as he is today, he is really suffering from the effects of Parkinson's Disease.
I know this sounds like a minor complaint, but the Blu-Ray holder in the box set is rather strange. They actually include an instruction manual for how to get the discs in and out of thier holders! If something designed for home video release is that complicated, it is a poorly concieved deisgn. I was able to get the discs out without any damage, but I was not comfortable with putting them back in. I've owned several Universal DVDs and many of them had some strange case design that made getting the DVDs in and out tricky. I was really hoping Blu-Ray would be more standardized and I would not have this problem (for the record 'The Last Starfighter' Blu-Ray was easy enough to work with, no problems). I do not understand why Universal Home Video does this. It won't make me not purchase Universal Blu-Rays in the future, but I still don't care for it. I recommend getting some DVD or CD jewel cases and putting the Blu-Rays in those, you'll be much happier.
If anyone from Universal Home Video is reading this, why not just use the same type of holders everyone else uses? Those make things so much easier.
For a fun and exciting trip through time, Back to the Future can't be beat.
What's great about it: The entire trilogy in stunning HD
What's not so great: Getting the discs in and out of the holders

The graphics are great! Brilliantly detailed, sharply defined and fluidly animated. The controls are easy to understand and responsive. The gameplay is second to none, among 3D fighting games, Soul Calibur is the best by far.
Character designs are great. My favorites are Suong-Mina and Xianghua. Each is distinctive in terms of appearance and fighting style and is very well concieved. Mitsurugi looks like Toshiro Mifune in his youth. Darth Vader is a playable character from the start!
The music is superb, some of the best I've heard in a fighting game. I loved the use of 'Star Wars' music in the game, the use of 'Duel of the Fates' from 'The Phantom Meanace' is stirring.
SC IV includes a shop where you can customize the appearance of most of the characters or even create your own! There's practically no limit to how you can customize your characters.
The arcade mode is a lot of fun to play, there are also challenge modes that unlock prizes for customization.
The Japanese cast features some high calibre talent from anime, so I would recommend Japanese voice over English voice. Although I do like Darth Vader's English voice. If I could set him to English and everyone else to Japanese, it would be perfect.
For fast and exciting 3D fighting, look no further than Soul Calibur IV.
What's great about it: Awesome graphics and fast action
What's not so great: English voice acting (except for Darth Vader, he sounds cool)

One of many things that made Blade Runner such a fantastic film is the music.
Vangelis creates a phenomenal score for this film with a great mix of etherial music and even a few blues inspired pieces. This is one of the best film scores ever composed, it ranks alongside the music of Star Wars! All of the music complements the dark and brooding atmosphere of the movie.
This CD contains the actual score from the movie Blade Runner, NOT 'music inspired by...' so this is the CD I would recommend if you want the Vangelis score.
This CD just contains the score, not the source music, but I always enjoy listening to this CD. This is one album that can really transport you to another world.
Essential listening for any sc-fi fan.
What's great about it: Fantastic music by Vangelis
What's not so great: Some of the incidental and source music not included

Blade Runner is, simply put, one of the finest films ever made.
Blade Runner tells the story of Rick Deckard, a police officer assigned to terminate renegade androids. Along the way, the meaning of Humanity is explored and, in some versions of the film, we get some clues that Deckard may not be Human himself.
The story is brilliantly executed. The exploration of the characters Deckard (Harrison Ford) and Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) draws you in to a fantastic dystopian world of the near-future. This is not an action movie, but the kind of movie that makes you think. Blade Runner is always a great movie to watch, one that you can enjoy watching over and over again.
The High Defenition transfer is flawless! The details in every scene are rich and sharply defined. Any trace of the age of the film has been corrected and the Blu-Ray makes Blade Runner look crisp and brand new. This is the best I've ever seen Blade Runner look.
The extras contain some nice documentary features on the making of and the impact of Blade Runner. Most are on DVD (not in HD), but there are a few Hi-Def extras on the editing of the 'Final Cut' version of the film.
The 'Final Cut' version is my favorite, but whichever version you prefer, it's in this collection.
There are one or two scenes where the violence is a little too far over the top and the film has an 'R' rating, but I do not consider Blade Runner to be excessively violent.
Blade Runner is a true masterpiece and deserves a place of honor in any sci-fi fan's video library. And the Blu-Ray gives us Blade Runner as it was meant to be seen. Even if you have the DVD, this is well worth the upgrade.
What's great about it: Flawless HD transfer
What's not so great: May be a little too violent in one or two scenes

The score from Enchanted has the feel of a Broadway musical, and the composer has some Broadway experience.
All of the songs in Enchanted are great, 'That's How You Know' should have gotten the Oscar for 'Best Song' in my opinion. The songs are very well composed. Amy Adams and James marsden both do a superb job singing the tunes from Enchanted. I alos liked 'Ever,Ever After', the ending theme sung by Carrie Underwood.
There's also some great instrumental pieces. The music for Andalasia has a nice storybook fantasy feel to it and I loved the theme for Queen Narissa, great use of a chorus to create a dark sense of foreboding.
Alan Menkin, who composed the music for 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast' does another fine job for Disney.
Great CD for the whole family or any Disney fan.
What's great about it: Great music from an excellent movie
What's not so great: Nothing comes to mind
I would recommend this to a friend!

2001 is one of the greatest motion pictures ever made and was the first to show just how great sci-fi can really be.
It starts millions of years ago at the dawn of Man when an alien obelisk comes to Earth and jumpstarts Man's evolution. An similar obelisk is discovered on the Moon in 2001 and this leads to an ill-fated mission to Jupiter where a similar object is located. What follows is a mind bending and hypnotic journey through space and time to the very edge of infinity.
The visual effects look great, not dated at all. Which is remarkable when you consider this movie was made in 1964. The visual effects really shine in Hi-Def! The clarity and sharpness of the picture makes the great visuals look even better. The Blu-Ray brings out details of the Moon that you just don't see on any other format.
The score is composed of selections from some of the best classical music ever composed. The opening with 'Also sprauch Zarathustra' is stunning and the use of 'Blue Danube' in the space scenes makes it look like the spaceships and space stations are dancing. This classical score also gives 2001 an air of timelessness.
The extras give some insights on the making and legacy of 2001. There's a nice piece on how some of the visual effects were made that includes some cool concept art. The only problem is this one art critic was trying to talk about the movie in the most pretentious way possible, fortunatly she isn't in extra segment a whole lot.
All of the movie, the music and visuals, look brilliant on Blu-Ray. The picture and sound quality of the format gives you 2001 as it was meant to be seen. The clarity and detail is tremendous.
See for yourself why 2001 is on every sci-fi fan's '10 best movies ever made list'. 2001 is a true masterpiece that has stood the test of time. We may have passed the year 2001, but this film is still one of the finest ever made. This is as close to perfection as movies come. A must have for any Blu-Ray collection!
What's great about it: There's so much that's great about this movie

This is one of my all-time favorites! The Last Starfighter is a great sci-fi adventure in the best tradition of Flash Gordon!
The story follows Alex Rogan, a young man who dreams of making a better life for himself. One night, he beats the record on the 'Starfighter' arcade game and later finds out this was a recruiting tool used by the fast talking Centauri. Centauri whisks Alex away and he becomes a Starfighter embroiled in an alien war, one that could strike Earth!
This was one of the first movies to use CGI visual effects, a new technology in the mid-80s. The laptop you are using right now actually has more power than the super computers used to make this movie. I remember being amazed at the visual effects when I saw this movie in theaters and the visuals still look pretty cool, the Hi-Def tranfer gives all the visual effects scenes a clear and crisp look, everything is very sharply defined. This is the best 'The Last Starfighter' has ever looked!
The make-up effects are all well done. All the aliens look real and make sense in this movie's world. The Rylans look great and so do the Ko-Dans. My favortie alein was Grig.
I would have liked some more new extras on the Blu-Ray. Maybe some tech specs on the Gunstars and the Starcar or some character profiles. The Blu-Ray could have even had the 'Starfighter' game as a bonus feature for PS3 owners like myself. I always wanted to play that game (I remember looking for it in arcades)!
For outer space fun and adventure, you can't go wrong with The Last Starfighter! A classic movie in a brilliant Hi-Def transfer. Essential for any sci-fi fan's Blu-Ray collection!
What's great about it: excellent movie in Hi-Def
What's not so great: I would have liked some new extras

This is the first North American Blu-Ray release for a Studio Ghibli film! Others are available on Blu-Ray in Japan, so we'll just have to wait for Disney to get around to releasing them here.
Ponyo is a delightful movie based loosely on 'The Little Mermaid'. It tells the story of a girl from a magical under-sea kingdom (Ponyo herself) who falls in love with a boy named Sosuke. The two go on a magical adventure together.
As with any Studio Ghibli film, the animation and story are outstanding, and the Hi-Def transfer really brings out the quality of the animation, some of the best 2D cel animation around.
The extras are the same as on the DVD. There's the 'World of Ghibli' part where you can unlock some clips or some humorous animations or find out which 'Ponyo' character you are the most like. There are also several featurettes on the making of Ponyo, including some input from Hayao Miyazaki, who stands with Walt Disney as one of the most important men in the history of animation.
The English dub is not at all good. Most of the dub voice actors are age inappropriate and many cannot pronounce the names correctly. It's pronounced 'Po-nyo' not 'Pon-yo'! The Original Japanese version is much better.
This movie looks even better on Blu-Ray and is certainly worth the upgrade. Recommended for any anime fan.
What's great about it: Excellent anime movie
What's not so great: English dub

Monsters Inc is one of my favorite Pixar movies, it was actually the first Pixar movie I ever saw!
Monsters Inc shows us that the monsters that come out of the closet to scare children do so because scream is a source of energy in thier world (called Monstropolis) and that said monsters are more scared of the children than the kids are of the monsters. Sulley (played by John Goodman), a top scarer with Monsters Inc. accidentally brings a little girl (who he calls Boo) into Monstropolis and uncovers a sinister scheme. What follows is lots of light-hearted fun and a few thrills as Sulley and his friend Mike (played by Billy Crystal) race to stop the plot and return Boo to her home.
The animation was state of the art for it's time and still looks great today. Monsters Inc stands alongside the likes of WALL-E and Up in terms of animation. The visuals look even better on Blu-Ray! The lines are sharp and clear, the colors are bright and vibrant and the animation looks even more fluid in Hi-Def. Some of the in-jokes in the background are clearer in Hi-Def. The monsters themselves look great, any one of them would be a great toy!
The DVD extras are included in the Blu-Rays. The extras include some animated shorts, highlights from the Monsters Inc company play, the employee handbook and lots of input from the guys at Pixar on how they made Monsters Inc. There's a great Blu-Ray exclusive called 'Roz's 100 Door challenge'. This game is a combination of movie trivia and puzzle solving (some of the puzzles are really challenging). By playing this game, you can find out where you fit in as a Monsters Inc employee!
Monsters Inc is a great movie the whole family can enjoy. This movie is well worth the upgrade from DVD to Blu-Ray and is an essential addition to any Blu-Ray collection.
What's great about it: Great story, animation and stunning Hi-Def transfer

This CD is the score from the movie and has the actual music from the movie, rather than music inspired by the movie.
Revenge of the Fallen offers some great battle music, music that makes the explosive action of Revenge of the Fallen even more exciting! The score also includes a great theme for Optimus Prime (which was used in the first live action Transformers). Taken together, this is a superb insturmental soundtrack!
The only thing I would have added is the themes from the original TV series as bonus tracks.
Recommended listening for any sci-fi or Tranformers fan.
What's great about it: Great music
What's not so great: Doesn't have the original TV themes

Bad disc - TWICE
ByQuoteMefromLos Angeles, CA
About an hour into Episode II, the disc freezes a bit and seems to skip. Returned to store for a hassle free exchange. The same problem with the new disc at the exact same spot!!!! Haven't had a chance to view all the other discs but what a disappiontment. Question is do I exchange again or simply ask for a refund???? Anyone else have similar problem?
Lots of talk with the First Class movie not working with Sony. It would not work with my Sony BDP S350. Which is NOT 3D. I had to disable the internet connection "Do not allow disc to access internet" or some such. Then I had to delete the data file the Xmen movie had already installed when I tried to watch it the first time. This isn't easy either as it normally doesn't display the stored data in the setup menu. I had to do this by inserting an invalid disc. In this case the digital copy. Then I got the menu to delete the First Class data file. What a pain, I'm watching this now and it BETTER be good, lol. If your not up to this then get the DVD. Hope this helps someone.

Good value for the money. One BRD issue.
ByburrisdfromFredericksburg, VA
As a Star Wars fan I find this a good value for the money. I have a problem with the blu-ray discs, which is in no way a fault of Best Buy. Every single disc seems to enter a pause mode during the movie and then speeds up without audio. I have to stop playing the disc and restart it again. This happens regardless of which blu-ray player I use. Other than that, I would recommend this product.
