Get your moneys worth and then some

Ok it's safe to say that most people have seen this awesome movie already but now that it's on blu-ray it's got perfect picture and sound...at first i was thinking that this version would have only the movie on it but i was wrong you see it's a 2 disk set that has everything and even the packaging is excellent as well giving you all kinds of extra info about the movie..i mean this would be a steal at twice the price...did you know that this movie was nominated for 13 academy awards! this is one of the best blu-ray i have bought in a while and i buy one or two every week so glad they made this version the way they did an excellent jod.
What's great about it: ahh lets see....everything!
What's not so great: nothing it's all great

Columbia/Tri-Star's DVD release of this 1985 cult horror favorite features a clean-looking, crisp-sounding transfer of the film, but remains a let-down thanks to a lack of special features. Beyond simply owning this great horror-comedy in the DVD format, the only real reasons to purchase this version is to see the letterboxed version of the film (in its original 2.35: 1 aspect ratio) on side one and to be able to hear the heavily '80s-influenced soundtrack in Dolby Surround Sound (English track only). Unfortunately, those are all the extras this disc has to offer unless you've been dying to catch the film in French or Portuguese. The lone addition is the original theatrical trailer which gives away most of the film's ending. The picture quality is excellent and Richard Edlund's special effects are captured in the ideal technological display. Side two also features the full-screen version of the film for those averse to letterboxing.

My second all time favorte horror film

I saw this move in 1985 when i was 21
probably 4 or 5 times i was very impressed with it back then
and still am it was actually scary in the theater
i own this on dvd but am disapointed it's not on blu-ray yet....second best horror film ever made my choice for first

Listen up this is better than "GOOD"

Ok my words can not do justice to this awesome movie
it's that good but i will mention a few things about it.

1. The musical score alone deserves an oscar
2. matt damon who is usually very good is even better than
perfect in this role/for this role
3. scarlet johanson has never been better.
4. elle fanning is well on her way to becoming an even better actress than her sister dakota.
5. thomas hayden church makes you believe that he's matt damons brother.
6. this movie is based on an uplifting and inspiring true story
with the actual orginal family on set and in the movie itself.
7. this movie has great pacing it grabs hold of you and keeps pulling you in making you think and care
8. i saw 52 movies last year and this movies was better than 51 of them.....you see this movie and you will not forget it ever.
9. the special features are really really good.

The visuals in this film are quite breathtaking

i found it very enjoyable
but don't watch a film like this because you want to see
an oscar worthy preformance from any of the actors
because that's not what a movie like this is about..
so if thats what you are looking for you might want to
see ben kingsley in hugo instead.

this is a spectacular and violent visual feast
with some of the same elements as 300 but slightly less charactor
development.....it's not pefect in terms of the acting but it is far from horrible......if you want to see horrible acting see any of the twighlight movie where everyone appears to be fully aware of being filmed at all times and mumbling is required.

Want to see a bloodbath similar to 300 but actually looks better at times? then see this at least once...
btw not a huge fan of the last sequence of the movie.
What's great about it: stunning visuals jaw dropping at times not for the faint of heart
What's not so great: mickey roirkes overacting...should have toned that down a bit.

these are probably the same people who really really enjoy movies like saw or the human centipede? go figure....
..hey the less people in the theater =less noise and smell
the better it is for me.

I didn't give this movie much thought when it first came out

enjoyed it it looks great it sounds great and the acting and the story were excellent...the previews for this movie do not do it justice

and it's one of the best looking animated films i have seen in awhile much better than cloudy with a chance of meatballs
at least in terms of visual sophistication

This is a very funny movie i know that long time friends ryan reynolds and jason bateman have been looking for a good movie to do together
and with this they have found it i think it works soo well because they are good friends plus awesome olivia wilde is in it as well...

I bought this the day after it came out
and i can't stop watching it the picture and sound quality are fa better than the dvd versions i own and the extras are great

the only problem i have is that disk 3 won't play at all
i'm going straight to best buy tommorrow to see what they can do for me on that one but the other two movies work great !
btw universal blu-ray are by far my favorites.

1. This movie is awesome soo many great scenes

blu-ray+dvd+digital copy combo pack...it was the first blu-ray movie that i did not purchase at best buy....btw best buy is charging the same amount for their 2 disk version as i paid for the 3 disk version at target $22.99....go figure...

as far as i'm concerned George lucas knows exactly what he's doing.
i can't wait to own this !
one tiny gripe though and this is just based on what i've seen online
it's the cover art on the set it seems like the two triquiles might look better on the shelf but i'll judge that when i see it i still can't wait to get it though.
and who knows maybe next year i'll get the two other versions as well...

I was lucky enough to get 2 free movie screening passes to see this a month before it was released in theaters and the main reason i first wanted to see this was for Jay Chou because i thought he was a good actor in Initial D. This was actually good, it had a lot of action in it mixed with comedy. Definitely something worth checking out. Never seen the old Green Hornet so i dont know how this lives up to it but I believe they did a good job. I might be adding this to my blu ray collection!

I Was first in line to see this one !
When the movie first started I thought I was in the wrong theater and that I had wandered into a horror movie, it looked nothing like the movie trailers I had been seeing on TV ... but after 10-15 minutes we were fighting Humongous Shogun Warriors Matrix style !!! Cinematics were a blast ! The story was suspenseful and Very Visual. It was different rooting for some Chicks instead of Bruce Willis or Some wimpy spider-man dork.
When the movie first started I thought I was in the wrong theater and that I had wandered into a horror movie, it looked nothing like the movie trailers I had been seeing on TV ... but after 10-15 minutes we were fighting Humongous Shogun Warriors Matrix style !!! After it was over, When I was leaving the theater I was saying that I'm going to OWN a 3D TV before that movie comes out for home viewing. ....I worked hard, replaced a lot of equipment, bought new cables, 3D glasses, Blu-ray 3D player, etc and was ALL ready for the release.

I'm soo sorry but i can't bring myself to feel sorry for anyone who can afford a new 3D
TV and blu-ray player etc....besides more than likely there will be a 3D release in the future in the mean time there are alot of other great movies in 3D.

Being a Jurassic Park fan, I rushed out to but the Blu-ray trilogy on its release date. I have never been so disappointed in a digital transfer of a movie in my life. My old DVD's of Jurassic Park have a better picture than the new blu-rays. I am astounded that Universal would do such a poor job on the transfer of the films. I have other movies from Universal that are much older, like "The Blues Brothers" blu-ray (1980), and the picture of that is excellent. Not this! As a consumer, I expect a package labeled as "Perfect picture and sound" to be more than a slogan typed on a package. Whoever did the transfer for these movies didn't clean up the film at all. It looks more like a digital transfer of an old VHS tape that had been played 100 times. I have over 200 Blu-rays and none of them look as poor as this. Now I have to find out how to get my money back.

I have a 37in 120hz 1080P HDTV AND A SONY BDP-N460 BLU-RAY PLAYER
WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE..
these movies look almost as good as avatar on my set up
i have watched them several times now looking for gainyness etc and could not find any such issues i have found that sometimes a disk is not quite right
and i take it back and they will exchange it...other times it is just a matter
of getting the dust off the tv screen which can make any movie look grainy and adjusting it better for that movie.
this set is incredible and i have no regrets with the purchase i would say replace the disk if that doesnt solve it fiddle with the backlight contrast sharpness etc until it looks right to you or get a firmware update for your blu-ray player if you do all that and it's still not right then either you are being too picky or you need a new BETTER TV.

My friend you need to look into updating the firmware on your blu-ray player
take it in to be serviceed or buy another one...because odds are overwhelming
that after buying 3 blu-rays of the same movie
it has to be your equipment

Jim Carrey delivers an outrageous performance in this fall-down, flat-out, irresistibly deranged movie (Rolling Stone). Rhode Island state trooper Charlie Baileygates (Jim Carrey) proves that nice guys finish first after marrying the prettiest gal in the land.

slaps you right in the face this is a ferrelly bro's movie and jim carry
is a comic genious like it hate it or whatever the man is creative and a superlative actor not eveyone on the planet understands this but those who do no doubt enjoy the hell out of his movies comedy or drama ...if you require your comedy to be tasteful classy and organized then i suggest you look no further than the proper drama section next time...me i like it all or most of it anyway.

Rarely does a film has such an immediate and emotional impact as John Carter. The story is a 100 year old classic, and bringing it to the big screen by the director of Wall-E and Finding Nemo was a labor of love, and it shows throughout. The film gets better with repeat viewings, which is why you'll love having this in HD and in your library. I can't recommend it highly enough. You will have a blast.

Okay, Die Hard is one of my all time favorites, so I was stoked to see this release on sale for $9.99 at my store. With that said, I have already exchanged my copy twice, and the bluray will not load in my slim Ps3. As it is a game system, my firmware is at the latest release. I have been on AVS forums and other users have experienced the same problem with their copy's, on different bluray players from LG and even Panasonic. Buyer beware as BB has a strict return policy on copyrighted entertainment. I am sure they will allow an exception if you run into the same issue I am having. I will call 20th Century Fox to consult with a representative regarding the issue.

I THINK IT'S A SONY ISSUE

I took my first return in AND they put it in a old samsung blu-ray player and it worked fine but it definately with not work on my sony BDP S590.
TOOK IT IN TWICE to exchange and none of them worked for me.

I gave this review 1 star only for the fact that the Dolby True-HD soundtrack is totally whacked! The movie itself is fine (for what I've been able to see it could be a reference disc for video & audio if it didn't have this issue) but this blu-ray is unwatchable due to the bad audio coding. I've been through 2 copies and both are messed up and unplayable on any of my 3 blu-ray players (all with current firmware updates, etc.).
There's at least 4 times where the audio drops out and then the video freezes. So far Sony has not said what they plan to do (if anything) to fix the issue and offer customers a swap out for the flawed disc's. The only fix I've read about for Oppo owners (I have a BDP-83) is to switch the HDMI setting from Bitstream to PCM but we shouldn't have to do that in order to watch this film! Sony needs to fix the issue, repress the disc's and offer a swap to those of us that bought it. I'm about to take copy #2 back to Best Buy and see if they will now refund my money now that it's well known that all these disc's are bad!
There's at least 4 times where the audio drops out and then the video freezes. So far Sony has not said what they plan to do (if anything) to fix the issue and offer customers a swap out for the flawed disc's. The only fix I've read about for Oppo owners (I have a BDP-83) is to switch the HDMI setting from Bitstream to PCM but we shouldn't have to do that in order to watch this film! Sony needs to fix the issue, repress the disc's and offer a swap to those of us that bought it. I'm about to take copy #2 back to Best Buy and see if they will now refund my money now that it's well known that all these disc's are bad!

I doubt best buy will refund your money
i had similar issues with DIE HARD ONE on blu-ray
taking it back 4 times in total and each time they only let me swap
it out and the 4th time they let me swap it for die hard 2 which works fine.
