SynopsisAll around you, the crowd roars its excitement. It's the final moments of the game, and your team is down by a single point. Like a well-oiled machine, you and your teammates fall into position, taking command of the ball and moving it steadily up the court. With an almost invisible signal from one of your teammates, the ball is in your hands, and you seize your chance. In one powerful and graceful movement, you launch the ball toward the basket. The clock ticks down as the ball leaves your fingers, soaring through the air. In that moment, time seems suspended. Have you just helped your team to win the game, or are you about to see your hopes for victory dashed?NBA 2K9 delivers all the heart-pounding excitement of basketball the way the pros experience it. Stunningly realistic graphics bring the world of the NBA to dazzling life before your eyes. With precise, fast-paced gameplay that emulates the force and speed of the real NBA, you'll feel like you're right there in the heat of the game. Control the ball just like a professional player with IsoMotion Pro's improved dribble system that lets you change direction with ease, and deliver incredible shots ~ even changing them in mid-air ~ with the advanced Shot Stick control system. With expanded Signature Styles and new Signature Defensive Styles, NBA superstars behave more like their real-life counterparts than ever before, whether it's Shaq smirking after a play or Rasheed Wallace stealing in the post. Plus, new online features give you the opportunity to engage in thrilling five-on-five multiplayer action, participate in a player ranking system and even get yourself elected to the Team 2K Hall of Fame for possible inclusion in the next NBA 2K game.

#1 Basketball Sim Again This Year
on October 24, 2008

2K continues to dominate the basketball sim world with its latest edition NBA 2K9. The game manages to exceed the acheivements of its predecessors in the areas of gameplay, fluid response, cut scenes, replays, highlights, and motion capture. It just feels so real when you play it. The live roster updates are a nice touch and will even update the players skills based on season performance. The crowd is even better this year. The grapihics on player models are better than past games by far, but are still hit or miss on some players and coaches. The edges are still kind of rough, and VC has still not fixed the issue of 1080p with out tricking your PS3. Other than that there is not a better basketball sim out there
What's great about it: Realistic gameplay, intuitive controls, signature moves, live updates.
What's not so great: Graphics pan/edges are rough, problems running native 1080p on PS3 bug still not fixed.

SynopsisContinue the legendary mad hoops action in NBA 2K8, featuring New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul on the cover. Now in its ninth year, the series presents extreme on-the-court excitement and the intensity found only in the realm of the NBA. Sport your gravity-defying moves from city to city in Dunk Contest challenges, where only the baddest and the best can unlock new dunks, props and players in multiplayer and online modes. Keep the screaming crowds interested or say goodbye to your career. The groundbreaking Signature Style feature returns, this time with hundreds of new shooting, dribbling and passing animations. Change the playing style of your favorite team members and create custom moves and dunk packages to send the fans into a frenzy. Control players all over the court to call for alley-oops, jostle for post position and set screens. Scoring isn't the only consideration; new defensive controls enable you to play tighter defense on the ball handler and run other defensive sets that shut down the offense. For additional thrills, up to six players can compete in the NBA 3-Point Shootout.

Best B-Ball Sim This Year
on November 28, 2007

Once again NBA 2K has made a superior basketball sim title this year. I can say this from the perspective of playing both, and I am a hardcore basketball fan/gamer. EA's Live this year gets the award for best visual display, I have to admit that, but you can get a pretty picture from a nice camera, that doesn't make a great game. What NBA 2K8 lacks in the area of the player/coach models it more definitively makes up for with excellent gameplay, addtional features this year like the dunk contest and 3pt shootout (which are less complicated and more fun to me than LIVE's), an extremely deep franchise mode, and fluid player movement with great physics. The crowd reactions are on point with gameflow(appropriate cheers and boos), the commentation is much better this year. Gamewrap up lets you look at top plays, and individual highlights from EVERY player that played that game. And OMG the dunks on this game are so ILL!!! The superstars play to their ability, but other players can kill you too in any given game if left unguarded, (i.e. Radmonivic). The AI is very challenging, and tough to beat even on the lower settings. You have to run plays and play to the strength of the team you are using or get murdered by the CPU. I do get annoyed at the number of blown layups on the game and the fact that its almost impossible to draw a charge. Ref always calls blocking. Sliders on the game can help adjust this though. I am extremely satisfied with this year's version, and if next year will be any kind of improvement, I am scared of it. Must buy for die hard fans. GO CELTICS!!!!
What's great about it: Gameplay, framerate, realism, options
What's not so great: Player models, missed layups, blocking fouls

Great Perfomance and Value

There really isn't a whole lot of detail needed for this device. Rocketfish had made an affordable device that does exactly what it says. I have this hooked to my Samsung HT-AS720 and it works flawlessly. You would think it was designed for it. It has its own adjustable volume, and its size and range makes it convenient to place almost anywhere, even another room. My only complaint is that it does not have a remote or an IR sensor, so unless you leave it on, you have to manually turn on/off both pieces of the receiver for use each time. Luckily it is a low-power consuming item. Great product overall, though. I highly recommend it!!
What's great about it: Affordable, easy setup, universally compatible.
What's not so great: No remote or IR sensor for power toggle.

SynopsisThe crowd roars with screaming fans who expect nothing less than your best. Your professional career and reputation as an athlete are on the line. Can you deliver the goods? The pressure of the business and the intensity of the game are all here in NBA Live 08. Packed with all-new steps, go-to moves and shooting mechanics, this latest version of the NBA Live series features even higher levels of on-the-court excitement. Take in every second of the responsive player movements, authentic graphics and complex strategies that portray what it's really like to play in the NBA.All-new Quickstrike ball handling provides amazingly intuitive gameplay mapped to the right analog stick, so you can take complete control of your game. Drive the ball down the lane or give it up to your teammates as you sport drop-steps, pump fakes and spins like the pro you are. Shot-tracking data helps you size up which players are hot and identify their weaknesses, letting you devise strategies that reduce any chance of defeat. Realistic-looking arenas, team uniforms and even player faces add to the authenticity of each scene. See it all at a smooth 60 frames per second for images that are almost as smooth as your skills. Dunks, layups and even 10-foot jump shots flow with the responsiveness and realism that only NBA Live can produce.

LIVE is Back!!!!
on October 2, 2007
Posted by: JMusiq2004

I can honestly say for the past few seasons NBA live has been outdone, outperformed and outclassed by a superior title in 2K. EA seemed to focus more on gimmics like SUPERSTAR and ALLSTAR player moves and things like that, and less focused on providing an authentic NBA basketball experience. Well this year, I think someone got the message. LIVE 08 did a wonderful job of making more of a simulation game. The player models are very good (most look IDENTICAL to the actual character) the game runs at a smooth 60 fps. Jumpshots are detailed to the player and not generic, and the total control dribble system allows you to create hundreds of crossover/spin combinations. New to this year's version are the GO-TO moves, in which your favorite players unique shots and abilities are replicated flawlessly. Tony Parker's teardrop floater, D. Wade's stepback J, you name it. Not to mention a revamped post game that looks like Kevin McHale motion captured himself. (He had 1000+ moves in the post.) The All-Star weekend is back and revamped in better detail, and ESPN access is at your fingertips all the time. I do wish the game was in 1080p as the egdes on the players are a little rough, and in the dunk contest the player sometimes dunks next to the rim and not in it. (Rare) The 3 point shootout is VERY difficult on the superstar level too. The gameplay over all is AWESOME. The games are fluid, the AI is challenging, and you really get into the game. Look out 2K this year EA has stepped it up!!!
What's great about it: Graphics, Moves, Features, Online/ESPN LIVE updates.
What's not so great: Edges a little rough, minor flaws on some dunks. Only 720p

Good Hack and Slash

If you like Dynasty Warriors or have ever played any game in that series, you are in the least familiar with the style of play of this game. The game overall is pretty good. The Gundam designs are varied, there are lots of characters and unlockables, which give you a reason to keep playing, a versus mode and cut scenes and animations with the real characters voice from the TV show. The only reason I take away a star is because the gameplay itself can be somewhat monotonous. You hack and slash everything in sight, which is cool, but the techniques are not varied enough. Each Gundam has a very limited set of moves that are only augmented with upgrades. These ungrades only change the attributes of the attacks. (Strength, speed, etc.) This can get a little boring. But the unlockables and new storyline are an interesting twist. Online play would have been nice too, but was not included. I still think it is a good game to pick up and play that is not complicated.

So far, this has to be the best game on the PS3. Superb graphics, excellent plot with some twists. Lots of options(weapons and accesories), strategy needed.(can't just hack and slash your way through) Downloadable content, and more. The environments are well done, good lighting. The only dislike I have, if any, is the camera is sometimes a bit annoying, but even that can be tweaked. Game has an online scoring system you can use to compare yourself to users all over the world. If you own a PS3, do yourself a favor and get this one.

It's So-So

I am a big time Need For Speed fan. I love the options that the game gives in general. Customization options have generally been great. Color, body kits, wheels and tires, spoilers, scoops. The car selections tends to be very nice too. Lambo's, Eclipse, BMW, etc. This game got really boring quickly though, very repetitive, and the graphics overall were sub-par compared to similar games in the genre. Online play did offer some replay value, but the game lost support so quickly, it was hard to find opponents. The game is cool, but I would wait for the next installment with some much needed improvements.

Not what hyped up to be!!

For anyone who saw this movie, you probably were very disappointed by this game. It's very elementary, with mostly chase and retrieve missions and a sub-par move list and weapons for the characters. The coolest part of the game is the ability to transform on the fly, but even that wears off after the first hour. Also, its annoying that any and everything you make contact with is DESTROYED. Cars, buildings, landmarks, etc. The game has a good concept, but seemed rushed. They should try again and develop a more indepth weapons/fighting system and make the missions more involving. A big letdown overall.

microphone

what do you call the wireless microphone that the singers used on stage instead of te traditional hand held one
Most performers will use a HEADSET WIRELESS MIC on stage, so their hands are free. Especially if they dance/move a lot or play an instrument.
