My sub is one of those that has an "auto-on" switch; it will only turn on if it detects a signal, otherwise it powers down. For some reason my subwoofer would fail to detect that the wireless receiver was sending it a signal, so it would never turn on. Other subs have an always-on mode and I suspect that this kind of sub would work better wirelessly. I went back to a wired connection, but if you have a sub that can stay on constantly (instead of going into standby mode) then this should work.

Still trying to figure out why this works, pushing powered speaker connections rather than line level pre-outs into the transmitter... but hey, it works great! I was prepared for pretty awful sound in the rear channel when I plucked the lightweight receiver/amp from the packaging (especially thinking about the great amp in my home theater equipment that I'd be bypassing). But again I'll say, it works great. The little receiver appears to be capable of reproducing the sounds it needs to for rear channel frequencies. I've been using it for a bit more than a month and it's never dropped the connection or made any unwanted noises.
