I was looking forward to the film being restored to at least the theatrical release. The early scenes are cut short to keep it to one disc, I guess, but the pace is sped up to much. The films editor is still alive and may have remembered the directors cut.
And the decision to release the film in 2.2:1 screen ratio is really sad. I realize that it is out of the question to expect the original cinerama screen ratio but Warner could have done better. The MGM laser disc had a wider aspect ratio.
Otherwise it is okay, the is much improved screen image and the sound track is very good.
What's great about it: sharper than the SD
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
