A Little Weird

If you find yourself loving the early work of Elvis Costello, be sure to do your homework before purchasing this album. When Costello left his original record label and signed with Warner Bros., he entered what can only be called an era of "experimental pop," all but ditching the sound that made him so popular in the first place. Not that this is a particularly "bad" album, it's just..."different." Once again, Costello shows just how much range he has musically, but very few of the songs on this album are as "jump up and down" fun as those he's more known for. And it was in no way what I was expecting when I bought it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Start at the Beginning

If you've ever found yourself wondering what all the hype is about Elvis Costello, this is the place to start. Not only is each and every song on this CD fantastic, it also gives you a good idea as to Costellos' range in terms of music. From his punk/new wave beginnings through contemporary rock & roll and even a taste of country, this album is a must-have for all fans of Elvis Costello, both old and new.
I would recommend this to a friend!
