WeaponNextGen's Reviews

The PS4 is a graphical powerhouse, able to deliver massive game worlds with impressive clarity and detail. 8GB of RAM allows for serious multitasking potential, complementing the great apps and features that make up the PS4 experience. The PlayStation brand of consoles has an impressive history of delivering world-class exclusive games, and the trend is sure to continue with the PS4. The growing blockbuster catalog is backed by a library of free-to-play and indie games, giving you flexibility in how you pay and play. The PS4 also acts as a social hub, with several built-in features that take advantage of the social networks you're already using. The controller's Share button opens up a world of video sharing, with the option to stream your gameplay live or record it to edit and post later. PlayStation Vita owners will enjoy the connectivity that ties the two devices together, from Remote Play, which allows you to play your PS4 games on your Vita's screen over a local Wi-Fi network, to Cross-Buy, which allows you to purchase a game digitally only once and play it on both your PS4 and your Vita. All PS4 consoles will need a firmware update and must be connected to the Internet to complete the update. While your console will not always need to be connected to the Internet, a one-time connection is required for the update. Online multiplayer requires a paid PlayStation Plus membership. Some features require a broadband Internet connection; ISP fees apply. PS3 games, controllers and some accessories are not compatible with the PS4.

Sony gets it right.

Sony made plenty of mistakes when the PS3 first released but it seems like they learned their lesson this time around. A system that's easy to program for, $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, and purely gaming focused have made this a very interesting piece of machinery. It already has proven it has the hardware chops by running everything at native 1080p so far and the controller has finally had a significant change for the better. It lacks backwards compatability, however, and the initial launch lineup isn't very compelling for someone on the fence about which console to get. Time will tell if it can muster up a compelling exclusive lineup earlier in the life cycle instead of later like the PS3 did but at the moment, it is the console to beat for multiplatform games.

What's great about it: Third-party multiplatform games look better here
What's not so great: Nothing compelling at launch to justify a purchase right now for the non-committed.

Necessary but could be better

If you're a Vita owner who's not afraid of going digital (especially with the console's new focus on indie titles), you need this card. It is the largest you'll get thus far and is able to hold lots of titles. It also becomes necessary if you're a member of PlayStation Plus as the free games will eat up all of the space you can find. The one issue everyone will have, though, is that the cards are still overpriced. The use of proprietary memory cards means they can make it up to whatever they want but when you can find the same storage size on SD cards for half the price or less, you can't help but feel cheated.

Essential for the big PC gamer

With Steam being the ubiquitous digital platform for PC gaming and with them holding sales every day, gamers finding themselves starting off on the platform or trying to build a good library will soon find themselves with a tremendous backlog of games they'll never play. With prepaid cards for Steam now available, you can at least try to curb your purchases by setting up a limit for yourself.

An almost essential purchase for PlayStation fans.

With the eventual shift to digital for the PlayStation platform, this is an essential purchase for those who own a PS3, PS Vita or will soon own a PS4. With the amount of sales happening per week for each platform, those who don't want their credit card info on the system will really want this nearby for that digital only purchase.

Can this run Battlefield 4

Im planning on getting a good PC for games and i think that if i can run BF4 i can run everything else i need to run, here is the link to the PC. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/desktop-4gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive/1822177.p?id=1219065405536&skuId=1822177&st=pcmcat287600050002_categoryid$abcat0501000&cp=1&lp=1#tab=specifications
This COULD run Battlefield 4 but just barely. The RAM meets the absolute minimum required for the game and the processor does as well but the video card would be your real bottleneck. Even though the graphics processor here is better than Intel's solution, it pales in comparison to a dedicated video card. If you add that in to this rig it'll be fine but don't expect to start running the game at a level that rivals that of high end PCs or next-gen consoles.
