Borderlands is a must buy for FPS fans

Overall this is an outstanding game. The campaign is a hoot, especially if you have a friend or two to play with you (and if you don't you can find one with the matchmaking system online). The graphics are amazing and the RPG feel with different loot and customizable character options really give this game a new feel from other FPS games. The campaign also invokes a sense of humor, as some of the NPC's and enemy names are pretty funny.
There are a few things that bother me that I think could have been fixed though. Fast travel between areas takes too long to get, so you are left with driving or a lot of the times running/walking through lower level areas where you just aggro all the enemies in that area. If they would have just implemented fast travel earlier in the game, or prevented lower level enemies from attack you as easily, it would have fixed that problem. Also the whole plot in the story is pretty uninteresting and kind of takes a bench seat to the action, which ususally isn't a good thing.....but I found myself not caring what the story was most of the time because of the superb gameplay.
Overall I would rate this game a 9 out of 10, definately worth buying.
What's great about it: FPS with an RPG twist, excellent graphics, numerous gun/loot choices, campaign especially co-op is a blast.
What's not so great: Fast travel takes too long to get, enemy spawning can get annoying, story is mediocre
I would recommend this to a friend!

Firefight is a great addition to Halo and the campaign was interesting and fun, but the campaign is too short, and firefight has no matchmaking option. I believe that is a huge mistake, and if they had a matchmaking option for firefight, this would be game of the year material, but without it, it feels like an expansion. I still recommend this game, but you may want to rent it first.
What's great about it: Firefight, graphics are awesome, the campaign...
What's not so great: ...while it lasts, no firefight matchmaking

The whole game is full of glitches, from pitcher throwing when you don't want to, to not being able to throw a guy out because of the faulty throwing mechanism. Graphics are sub-par, with some Mr. Game and Watch graphics glitches. PLEASE rent this game before you buy it, I am glad I did.
What's great about it: I liked the button layouts...
What's not so great: ...if only they worked.

Why isn't this an arcade game?

If a parent buys their kid this game for them, I kind of understand, but in my opinion, you would be better off just buying the board game. $40 is waaay too expensive for this game. In a sense, this game is too kid-friendly because there is no xbox live play. Really you are paying $20 more for a video game instead of the board game where you still need somone to play with you. So in my opinion, spend the extra $20 elsewhere and spend some time with the family playing the original board game.
What's great about it: Its monopoly, fun for the kids
What's not so great: $40 for a game that should be $20, graphics

Must have for higher level math
on November 19, 2008

Everything you need for upper high school math and calculus. It has multiple functions and applications available for use. Some may say it takes a while to figure out how to use it, but any higher level calculator is going to take some getting used to because of the overwhelming amount of stuff in it. The TI-84 is not as confusing as the TI-89, and it is cheaper. In general I would recommend Texas Instruments for you calculator even if you decide to get a different version because TI's are reliable. It is a little expensive, but well worth your money.
What's great about it: Multiple functions, easier to use than a TI-89
What's not so great: It can't do your taxes :(

Awesome album. Period. Only problem I have with it is the 10 minutes of dead air between A Daily Anthem and the bonus track.
What's great about it: Spectacular songs
What's not so great: HUGE gap between A Daily Anthem

I am a fan of Nickelback and I loved their last album, so I was excited for this one. When I was listening to it, I found myself liking most of the songs, but there are a couple that either don't sound like Nickelback or are too raunchy for my taste. I understand some of Nickelbacks songs push the limit of R rated, but there were a couple of songs that over did it in my opinion. Nevertheless, this is a good album, and if you are a fan of Nickelback this is a must buy.
What's great about it: New songs from Nickelback, many songs really bring out Chad's unique voice...
What's not so great: ...on the other hand, there are some songs that just don't feel right

Great game with a huge pitfall.

Lets start off with the good:
The Campaign is very, very good, with a few acceptions where you can glitch into an invisible wall and can't get out. The graphics are amazing and who doesn't have fun holding off swarms of the Horde for 5 minutes while Baird tries to repair your tank?
Now the negatives:
The setup for multiplayer is HORRIBLE. You can wait anywhere from 1 minute to 20 minutes trying to find teammates and THEN you can wait another minute to 10 minutes finding a team to play against. So if you are willing to wait an average of, I would say, 15 minutes to actually GET INTO a game... Multiplayer itself is fun, but there are soooooooooooooooooooo many glitches in the game it can be very very frustrating. I would say after about 2 consecutive multiplayer games you will be ready to throw your controller through the TV. But nevertheless, buy this game, and just play the campaign and Halo 3 until they come out with some patches for Gears.
What's great about it: Campaign, graphics, more sweet weapons
What's not so great: Multiplayer, Multiplayer, and o ya, multiplayer

I miss Rock Band.

Guitar Hero World Tour is ok if you have never played Rock Band before. Rock Band (in my opinion) is the superior product mainly because of the songlist. The graphics were also horrible. Nevertheless, waking your parents up at 2 in the morning because you are rockin out to World Tour is always fun, I would just suggest you do it on Rock Band instead.
What's great about it: Different song list, I liked the concept of the drums
What's not so great: Graphics, I still liked Rock Band's song list better

which xbox do I buy?

My son has the newest play station. He wants an xbox so he can play online football games with other people. Which xbox do I buy? I bought the xbox arcade, but someone told me that it would be cheaper to buy the xbox pro and get all the parts so he could play online. I have no idea what I am doing.
Hi J's mom. In the long run it would probably be cheaper just to buy the xbox 360 pro instead of having to buy the rest of the stuff separately. The Xbox Arcade does not come with a hard drive (the most expensive part of the Xbox) so you would have to buy one of those. I saw you already bought the Xbox 360 Arcade. I would try to return that one and get a Xbox 360 Pro, but if you do not want to do that, it's ok! You just need to buy a hard drive (I would buy the 60GB Live Starter Pack that you can find on Bestbuy.com). I recommend the Starter Pack above because it comes with a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live (which you usually have to buy separately). I hope this helps and have a great holiday!
