So, another WWII first person shooter. I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. However, Call of Duty 3 doesn't do anything that the others don't. It's your basic run around and kill *enemies* game. Not bad if that's all you're expecting. In fact, it's quite fun. You have your assorted WWII weapons, firing from the sight, killing wave after wave of the worlds most notorious army. If you are looking for a groundbreaking (or even engaging) story or flashy effects, this isn't for you.
In fact, you don't even play as the same character throughout the game. This is a good thing because you pick up as different soldiers commissioned (or drafted) into any of the allied forces, which introduces you to new (bad) accents and new (very cool) guns. It's bad because there is no way to develop anything past a mild indifference toward any of the characters. There is no anchor on which to develop characters or traditional story telling elements. In a game about the realities of war, this is kind of important. It's not so "real" unless you can somewhat feel the elation of victory or the helplessness of defeat... or the sadness of loosing a compatriot. I mean, it doesn't have to feel "real", but there was no effort at all to make anything more than run here, blow some stuff up, kill some *enemies*, run there, man a machine gun or spot for a tank... blow some stuff up, kill some *enemies*... Like I said, for the discount price, it is fun to play soldier. I just wouldn't recommend paying full price.
What's great about it: There's a bit of variety. Cool weapons.
What's not so great: It isn't gripping. Story is flat and a bit too linear feeling.

This game is great. The characters look amazing, the voice acting isn't bad and the story is compelling. The gameplay is pretty "God of War," but it's a great model, and since GoW isn't on the PS3, why not enjoy a clone?
The gameplay is broken up by little archery sub levels (or catapult sub levels) which are really fun and quite addicting. These levels even employ the Sixaxis controler in a way that doesn't make you want to throw it across the room, which is very nice. So, all in all, you are not really in for a GoW clone of a game.
The graphics, music, sound and acting are all cinema quality and keep you enthralled and wanting more. But that is exactly where this game doesn't succeed. You can literally finish it in a couple of hours. That might be a little too much like a movie for me. I'd prefer a longer game for the price tag. But, the length aside, it's a fun game and probably the best straight action/adventure game on the PS3 to date. I recommend giving it a try. You will have fun with it.
What's great about it: Very fluent gameplay. Great graphics. Good story

This game is intensely good! There is always so much going on. You really feel like you are in a real environment and that everything going on could really happen. Absolutely amazing. The voice acting and story telling are superb. Every extra (comedy, variety show and television, etc) contained in this game is hilarious and richly satirical of modern pop culture. It just blows me away at how diverse and immerse this game world is. It's an absolute must have. The controls are fantastic. Every vehicle and weapon has its own unique feel. The characters all have diverse and rich personalities and stories. You can even forgo the main story and just live a virtual life. This game is incredible. On the negative side. The graphics aren't as good as the XBox 360 version. It's not a huge difference or in any way horrible, but you can definitely see the difference. The XBox has the edge b/c of the ultra crisp and clear graphics as well as producing a brighter and therefore easier to see picture. However, I do believe that the PS3 produces better textures and a more convincing City Haze effect on the horizon. Other than this small draw back, this game is near flawless. You have to give it a try. You'll definitely get your money's worth!
What's great about it: There's so much to do and see. Epic storytelling and great sense of humor
What's not so great: Seems to be a bad port graphically of the XBox 360 version

Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing game and a MUST have for any PS3 owner. In fact, I would go so far as to say that this is the beginning of PS3's dominance in the gaming market. Finally we are starting to see the graphic capabilities of the PS3 and how they can add to a novel-like, cinema quality game. The amount of information in this game is staggering. From the details on characters and scenery to the information contained about each weapon, you can literally spend hours customizing and reading about the history of all your equipment. In addition, the music and sound effects are fantastic. Background music is appropriate, but if you disagree, there is an Ipod item which will allow you to play your own songs stored on your hard drive as well as select Metal Gear tunes from previous games that you come upon. Also, I liked how a musical theme was chosen. It really ties the game together. On the cons side, this game seems MUCH more linear than previous installments. It's nice that you can chose your play style (sneak v. run and gun), but I miss the solitude of the previous games; that certain I'm completely alone and can't get caught in this huge world feeling. Other than that, this is truly a great game and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not at least taking it for a test spin... even if just to look around and marvel at the details.
What's great about it: The graphics are unreal; Great voice acting; very Cinema-like
What's not so great: Lost is the go-anywhere feel of the first. Seems like you are pushed on a predetermined path too often.
