Wonderful RPG. One of the best ever made.

I've played many RPGs and find this one to be at the top of my list. It is definitely right up there with Fallout, KOTOR, Oblivion and other deep roleplaying games.
If you're looking for a simple action RPG you are in the wrong place. This is game has so much artistry in every aspect it would be a crime to ignore it all.
I've told the wife it is like playing a book.
Sound:
There is a lovely classical soundtrack with choral elements, I think you can even buy it separately.
The characters are very well voice acted, far superior to Oblivion, Fable or Fallout3.
Gameplay:
The gameplay has an overall plot with many many branches and different ways to play based on your origin (human, dwarf, etc) and the class you play, as well as the places you visit and in what order. This is the selling point of the game. You can get 50 hours out of it, but that is only with 1\6 possible characters, and since the plot changes with each one, you can realistically get at least 300 hours. I'm not kidding.
Of course you would know many spoilers by the last couple of playthroughs, but if you want to compare it to another game like Call of Duty for example, you play it through once and thats about all you get. Imagine playing Call of Duty as a medic instead for example.
Combat is accessible yet challenging, with different difficulties available if you find it too hard/easy.
Graphics:
Similar to Mass Effect. The characters are very detailed and look great. Backgrounds are less so, but acceptable.
Fun:
I haven't had this much fun with a game in a long long time. Deeply engrossing. Make sure you don't forget to sleep!
What's great about it: Deep story, replayability, fun combat, decent graphics, online status updates to Bioware site
What's not so great: Graphics are good but not market leaders.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The first season of this sleek spy series mixes plenty of action with sex appeal and a dose of wry humor. While on a covert mission in Nigeria, spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) discovers he's been burned, which equates to being fired in the world of espionage. After escaping the immediate danger of his assignment, he wakes up in Miami with no memory of how he got there and discovers his accounts have been frozen and his contacts cut off. Forced to fend for himself, Michael recruits the help of the only friends he has: Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell), a former intelligence contact whom the FBI has tapped to gain intel on Michael; Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar), a spunky ex-IRA operative looking for closure after being dumped by Michael several years earlier; and Michael's meddling mother Madeline (Sharon Gless), who's thrilled to have her son back in her life. Despite the often uneasy state of these alliances, Sam, Fiona and Madeline each bring their own skills to the table to help Michael find out who burned him and why. In order to fund his investigation-not to mention more mundane expenses like rent-Michael picks up a side job as a private investigator helping Miami citizens obtain justice. Each episode chronicles a different case, opening the way for notable guest stars like Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) and Richard Schiff (West Wing). But Michael's main goal throughout the season is following the convoluted trail of betrayals and double-dealings that led to his burn notice.

McGuyver meets Jason Bourne

All the actors are good, especially the lead as the ex-CIA agent that has been 'Burned'. Bruce Campbell makes a welcome addition as the friend.
They basically find excuses for Jeffrey Donovan to perform a 1 hour mini spy drama while he is searching to find out why he was burned.
The thing I love the most about the show is the insights they display through voiceovers and Jeffrey's conversations. It's always great to watch an expert at work, and Jeffrey will explain why he's doing something or setting up a confrontation. The actors all effortlessly bring us through the process as he encounters a situation that normal people would have no chance at succeeding with, prepares, and uses his preparation and immense experience to resolve.
For example: when preparing to confront a gun-wielding drug dealer neighbor, he locates the studs in the wall adjacent to the apartment door and uses tape to mark them. Later, he confronts the bad guy who has a gun on the other side of the door. Using the tape marks as a guide he fires through the wall to incapacitate the bad guy before he has to enter the apartment.
Perhaps the only complaint I would have is the Mother character is a bit one-note and seems to exist only to introduce new problems for Jeffrey to solve.
Highly recommended.
What's great about it: Excellent acting, clever ideas
What's not so great: Mother character is a bit off
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent backstory, good ideas represented here. The graphics look good, sound is good. The technical aspects of the game are all great, it's the actual gameplay that is lacking.
The levels are very linear and old-school complete with invisible walls and no jumping allowed. You can hop around between your team members to use their different powers, but won't really use them unless prompted specifically to do so by the level. Otherwise you will rely on 2 or 3 characters and never touch the others.
The end is very abrupt and unsatisfying and you feel that all your awesome weaponry is loaded with Nerf balls.
The designers had a Lexus factory but made a Saturn.
What's great about it: Excellent graphics and atmosphere
What's not so great: repetetive gameplay, bad enemies

Great purchase

Graphics:
Well done and very stylish graphics reflect a 40s-50s feel. Satisfactory for the Xbox360. Lots of attention to detail all over the world.
Sound:
The sounds are amazing in this game. You come back to it just to hear the sounds again. Some old time music included in various places.
Gameplay:
Polished FPS run and gun for the most part solving some puzzles. This is a spiritual successor to System Shock2 on the PC which is a classic. So there are alarms and turrets to hack, upgrades to your 'magic' and weapons. The enemies are very creative, being regular citizens of the 50s that are now psychotic killers due to circumstances. You will hear a woman shouting "Stay away from my Stanley!" while shooting a machine gun at you.
The only bad things are that it is a pretty linear narrative and once you've gone through it there isn't too much to discover except playing with different powers and enjoying the combat again. The end is abrupt.
Bugs:
Nothing I can think of, very polished and smooth.
Summary:
A good buy, very entertaining and niche. Not another Call of Duty clone.
What's great about it: Very atmospheric, polished
What's not so great: linear, somewhat limited replay value

Best Xbox RPG, one of the best Xbox games overall

Adding my review from the limited edition since the other reviews for the normal edition are short. There is another excellent review for the limited edition as well by TButler.
BioWare hits another home run with this title.
It is an excellent RPG with a great action game built in.
Story:
The main story is classic Sci-Fi with excellent dialogue. Lots and lots of side missions become available and most change on how you choose to deal with the choices, providing lots of replay value for your money.
Incredible amount of data you can read if you take the time. The universe is fully fleshed out.
Graphics:
Beautiful almost realistic in most scenarios. I can describe it as watching a movie that you affect the plot. Characters move and interact very much like real life.
Gameplay:
Walking around and speaking to characters is half the game, the other half is navigating using the beautiful galaxy map and conducting combat operations against enemies. The combat is well done and compares to Gears of War's over the shoulder perspective.
Bugs:
The party AI can be disappointing at times and there are some issues with graphics loading somewhat slowly after starting from a saved game. Driving the Mako can be frustrating.
Total:
There is so much to explore and so many ways to do it. It really is like you are in your own movie.
In my opinion the best RPG on the Xbox360.
What's great about it: Graphics, action and story
What's not so great: some glitches

Sam Raimi's The Gift is a twist-filled thriller and a very nice DVD. The picture, which is 1.85:1 and anamorphic, conveys the foreboding atmosphere perfectly with strong blacks (a major portion of the film) and nicely realized, yet often muted, colors. Flesh tones are right-on also, which contrasts well with the other, darker, photographic elements. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital English track, is primarily focused up front, but a few instances of surround material heighten the soundtrack, creating an unsettling effect at the right time. Also included are surround tracks in English and French, plus subtitles in English. As for extras, there are a few, but they aren't spectacular. Beyond the theatrical trailer is a featurette that runs just more than ten minutes. This short piece includes interviews with a number of cast members and the director who briefly describe working together and their experiences making the film. It's a nice addition, but doesn't amount to much more than a fluff piece. Also included is an odd song, "Furnace Room Lullaby," from Neko Case & Her Boyfriends.

Underappreciated

A host of A-list actors show their chops in this dark, supernatural murder mystery.
Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi are amazing and Keanu Reeves suprises as a redneck wife beater. This movie has a good mystery core and steps up the anticipation with supernatural elements.
The ending, which some might see as breaking the suspension of disbelief doesn't bother me. I get caught up in the characters and the freedom that one finally experiences. The acting is outstanding in this and sweeps you along.
The soundtrack (movie score, not the country music soundtrack) uses a violin to add a haunting and touching aspect to many scenes, especially the coda. It just might bring a tear to your eye.
A nice gem for a cold Autumn night.
What's great about it: Excellent acting, unique soundtrack
What's not so great: can be slow

Andrew Grieve's massive miniseries Horatio Hornblower comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a biography of author C.S. Lewis, a primer on nautical lingo, a making-of featurette, and a documentary about England's warships. This is an excellent DVD that should entertain fans of sweeping epics.

Excellent Historical Fiction
on October 8, 2007

We watched the Emmy award winning Hornblower series after seeing Master and Commander starring Russell Crowe, and found it at least as good, if not better an experience.
The acting is excellent all around, and the production values are top notch. They apparently filmed on an actual frigate for the production (which is why they aren't making more; too costly).
The DVDs have historical and behind the scenes info, and we learned a bit about life in the british navy from it. Apparently rum was integral to the operation of the Navy. I would believe it considering they grabbed people from bars and forced them to be sailors for years at a time.
Ioan Gruffudd and the other actors bring their characters to life over the course of the fictional Hornblower's life from low ranking ensign to Captain of his own ship.
If you are looking for a good period piece in the 18th century British navy, this is an excellent series.
What's great about it: Historically accurate, excellent acting and production
What's not so great: 18th century British Navy setting may be too narrow for some
