The Boondock Saints is one of the most pleasant surprises I've had in my years of watching indies, and it proves conclusively that you don't need a massive budget to do a terrific action film! Great story, great action and twists along the way. What's not to love about this little fun cinematic gem?
The Blu-ray -- dodgy video is bolstered by great audio, and there are some fine supplements. I hoped for more of an upgrade here over the standard DVD, but fans of "Boondock Saints" should give this a Blu-ray look.
What's great about it: A Cult-Classic Finally on Bluray!
What's not so great: Video: The film's source remains sketchy. There are heavy grain spots and a fair amount of print defects.

A fairly stylish and psychologically complex film.

"Orphan" is charming, if imperfect little horror movie that sits comfortably in the evil little kid sub-genre, while trying desperately to transcend it. While that doesn't happen, exactly, it's a whole lot of fun, with some fine performances and generally twisted revelations. This Blu-ray disc from Warner Bros. is quite impressive, with wonderful audio and video. Sure, the special features disappoint big time, but when a disc looks and sounds this good, it's easy to forgive, if you want some spooky chills, you could do a lot worse than to adopt his "Orphan". Highly Recommended!
What's great about it: Fun Film, great disc sporting good video and an impressive lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Mix.
What's not so great: The extras on this disc are pretty thin.
