Best Voice Quality of All Residential VOIP Choices
on June 13, 2010

I had done some background research on OOMA prior to purchase and most reviews were quite positive.
I purchased their last generation HUB and Scout package on clearance- but its functionally almost identical to the telo (current model).
I have tried Vonage, Comcast Residential and Broadvoice (Current) for with mixed results -main issues choppy voice, one way audio, phantom ring (support usually passes it off as firewall issue/network congestion)-never their network as the cause.
I have worked in the IP Telephony industry for over a decade so I have had experience with over 40 providers and remained skeptical that anyone could offer a high quality residential offering for a reasonable price.
Ooma has radically changed my perception of what is possible-low cost service, high quality voice.
Setup was a breeze (I have a very complex home office network), calls to their support were promptly answered (though not always exactly right answer out of the gates). Highly recommended. Can't wait until they come out with a business class offering for my clients.
What's great about it: Low Cost, High Quality Voice
What's not so great: No Stutter Tone for Voicemails, Requires that Hub Unit is close to your living areas.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Windows understands that it's the 21st century, and multitasking is a way of life. Cell phones, laptops and tablets and their ever-expanding networks, apps and programs make it so we can almost always be doing at least two things at once. You send an e-mail while you're out to lunch. You call your friends while you're scheduling your family's next month of activities. You send your brother a birthday e-card while you're walking the dog. Mobile technology allows us to stay connected to our friends and family, and creates an ever-expanding versatile home setting. With that in mind, Windows 8.1 has been designed to bring you one operating system that can handle all of life's demands ~ no matter where you are. Whether you're in the office, at home or on the go, Windows 8.1 is there to deliver. Windows 8.1 enhances your ability to stay connected to friends and family from anywhere, anytime. Advanced Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) features allow you to work in versatile settings, while still supporting mobile enhancements, such as wide-range and automatically triggered VPN and mobile broadband and tethering, and updated interface features, such as resizable snap view windows and improved mouse-and-keyboard accessible start screens. Access corporate resources and sync data from any device thanks to Workplace Join and Work Folders. Share your projects easily with NFC Tap-to-pair Printing, Wi-Fi Direct printing and Miracast Wireless Display functionality. Shadow active sessions in an RDSH server, support a VDI environment with more flexible storage options and enhanced RemoteApp behavior, and designate classes of devices with an OMA-DM API agent. Best of all, feel confident that your business data and programs are protected by the newest security features, including remote business data removal, device lockdown, malware resistance, device encryption and improved biometric identity authenticating features, such as optimized fingerprint based security. Tack on a modern user interface, and you've got Windows 8.1.

Windows 7 is much better
By NAHYUHMUHDA from San Antonio, TX
It installed fast and seemed like a good OS at first, but then later on it would crash and I would have to reboot. I installed all the updates but it keeps happening. Sometimes when I boot up my PC the screen will just be the color purple and it stays like that until I press a key. Whatever key I press it just turns the screen to blue. If I press any other key then it goes back to purple. This doesn't go away and I have to reboot yet again. Another downside is the whole new redesigned interface. As you probably have heard, its not very popular, and rightly so. Everybody was used to the past Windows that were all generally alike. This new design is difficult to get accustomed to and at first YOU CAN'T FIND ANYTHING YOU WANT. It took me like half an hour to find control panel and other things.
Overall, its not worth it for the price. I would definitely get Windows 7 Premium over Windows 8.

Disagree with the Negative Win 8.1 review 100%
January 2, 2015
Look Microsoft never promised that 8.1 was anything like Windows 7 by design. If you don't have a touchscreen there are at least a half a dozen start menus you can load free of charge to provide a similar if not identical experience to Windows 7.
It runs faster and is more stable on every platform I have tested it on (including virtual machines).
I have loaded it on no less than 10 pcs and or laptops and have had a bluescreen on only 1 (likely due to the age of the hardware). It runs well on as little as 4gb of memory and on drives of all sizes.
All in all its their best effort to date.
