Terrible - it may be the worst game yet for PSP

Bad, bad, bad. What else can I say about this game. It is horrible. Do not buy this game. It is absolutely horrible. The graphics are an embarrassment; seriously, you can't even really see what's happening on the screen. Just terrible. If I would have paid only $5.00 for this game it would have been too much. $40.00 are you kidding. Anyway, I'm new to PSP and was a sucker to buy this game.
What's great about it: nothing; really, nothing!
What's not so great: everything

GW1 Expansion but worth owning; good replay value

This is basically an add-on to GW1 but don't let that stop you. GW1 was/is a great game. The weapons additions are not extensive but worth it; flame thrower has it's uses but I don't keep it in my inventory. The storyline holds better and it really gets into the characters; this one really has you feeling impending doom as the story goes. Some difficulties with getting character to post up on cover which doesn't happen on my system with GW1. The main reason I can not give GW2 5 stars is simple. Too much like arcade. I buy and play 1st person shooters becaue I want the combat, shooting, strategizing, and wooping up on the enemy. Both GW games have way, way too much arcade style play (such as jumping through craching teeth while in the belly of the worm. Really distracts from the game and the combat experience and there is way to much of it, more than in GW1.
If I had rented the game first, I still would have purchased it at reg. price.
What's great about it: Graphics, new weapons, more put into the story than GW1
What's not so great: Arcade, arcade, arcade
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Real Deal

from Las Cruces, NM
For those that have commented that they don’t understand the “hype” surrounding this game (and there are only a few), I simply don’t understand where they are coming from. My first, uninformed guess would be that they don’t have an HD TV (so they don’t get the benefit of the best out there graphics), or they just don’t like shooter games. I do, however, appreciate the self-proclaimed “non-hardcore gamer who found it difficult. It’s a game for the hardcore- no doubt). Their entitled to their opinions but don’t let them stop you from buying this game. I passed it up for months for other shooter games mostly because I heard GOW was too short (I wanted my monies worth). I would agree that it’s too short but only because it’s so good it leaves you wanting more. Seriously folks, the “hype”, as it might be referred to in a negative way, is no hype at all. GOW delivers in every single area of excellence with few minor flaws (and those really being personal preference issues for me). There is no way to really describe in short the unique style of using cover so I won’t try here, just believe all the other reviews that say it’s awesome and fun, easy to learn and execute (and it really is unique). There currently is no rival (that I have seen) to the graphics in GOW (though Halo 3 comes close). Sound is as good as it gets (limited only by your setup- BOOM… GROUND-WALKER… HUMANSSS). The weapons available are awesome. The game is not short in my opinion, but again, does leave you wanting more. The replay value is very high if for no other reason than to go through the game trying to find the 30 hidden cogs. Don’t cheat and read walkthroughs to find them, that takes the fun out of it. I have only played through once and found only 6 cogs. Of course, I wasn’t even looking for them- so I can’t wait to play through again and search them out while keeping my head down. As for the minor flaws I spoke of, they are as follows; and remember that I said they are really more based on my own personal style of play and preference and not flaws in the design or play of the game with the exception of the chainsaw. So many write about loving the chainsaw (for melee on one of the guns) so I won’t bash it. I will say that I don’t like it, it’s too slow and unreliable when your rushed by several enemy (maybe I don’t know how to use it well enough). I also don’t personally like how some of the play is arcade-like. For example, the Berserkers. Having to lure them into the light in order to blast them with the Hammer of Dawn is really not fun at all. It completely takes me out of the game and into the arcade mode (like it’s a little mini-game inserted there to get you to remember to eat or something). If I were the developer of the sequel, I would take them out or make it so the “shooter-gamer” can shoot and kill them. There is also the mine carts that take you on a little journey through the mine like a slow moving roller coaster in a carnival while you shoot at pop-ups and finally the generator room where you have to walk from one side of the room to the other without falling through the floor. These arcade-play parts should have never made it into a game like this; their a different genre and effectively disengage ME from the game. Their boring, frustrating, and most of all, take you completely out of the war for untold minutes until you figure out which board not to walk on (for example). Finally, what I see as flaws are personal style of play issues so they do not effect my fair rating of the game. It is an easy five only because I can’t give it six stars. 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 without a doubt. Oh yea, I haven’t even gone Live yet. While I didn’t get what I was expecting and hoping for from Halo 3, GOW made up for it. 
What's great about it: Best Graphics out there, unique- well developed use of cover, engaging, hours of fun
What's not so great: A few arcade-like events that take you out of the "ZONE"

World War II changed lives, changed countries and changed history. The Normandy Breakout Campaign was the most intense and dangerous action of the entire conflict, as young soldiers from America, Britain, Canada and Poland struggled with the fear and the fatal force of the Nazi army. It was a time when the world held its breath as tyranny was confronted. Bravery was tested, tactical expertise meant the difference between life and death, and battle was often up close and personal. Bold heroes were needed as Europe fell under the shadow of death. Step back into that world, if you dare, and see how you would perform in this time of crisis. The Germans are marching toward world domination ~ will you step up and stop this assault against the free world? Will you answer the Call of Duty?Call of Duty 3: Gold Edition thrusts you into the thrilling landscape of the second World War and gives you a bonus DVD packed with features and a token for a free map pack. This latest addition to the popular Call of Duty franchise features all-new close-quarters combat, environmental physics and a host of ways for you to take down your enemies. Vivid graphics immerse you into a realistic world, where special tactics must be employed against your enemy if you expect to forge a path to victory. Intense, team-based multiplayer options offer multiple-occupancy vehicle combat, so climb aboard a tank or Jeep with your friends and team up to take down the Nazi forces once and for all.

Not as good as COD 2
on October 15, 2007

from Las Cruces, NM
This game doesn't quite rate 4 stars but I had to give it 4 because it's too good to rate a 3 (Best Buy can you please give the ability to rate half stars). 3 and a half stars easily, the game is very fun to play. I usually hate the cut-scenes between levels on most games but really enjoy the ones in COD3. If you already have COD2 and love shooters this one is worth buying (but if you are going to purchase one or the other go with version 2). After buying COD2 and playing it through several times I craved more and though I chose version 2 over version 3 based on reviews I decided the price was right and got COD3. I don't regret it, it's a good game and much fun but I am glad Activision is going with the original COD developers for COD4 which comes out next month. Not a must have, but certainly not a waste of money. If your considering it, buy it.
What's great about it: Fun, engrossing game play, interesting characters and story, good on-line
What's not so great: falls short of COD 2, graphics good have been better.

For serious, tactically minded shoorters only!

This game fits nicely, and easily into one of the few 5 star slots in my library. It's what we have come to expect from a Tom Clancy game and Ubi Soft. Absolutely a must have for all shooter gamers and really has no rival (though GRAW2 does hold it's own). Game-play has an excellent blend of technical approach and combat/shooting. Not too much of either and just enough of both. Team is easy to command and control (but they should have included the ability to look through team members hud in order to pick out location to send them when your on the other side of the room- they did include that feature in GRAW2 so I don't know why they would leave it out in a more tactically based shooter. ) Otherwise, and even in spite of this, the game is nearly perfect. Graphics are great. I've never been to Vegas but my daughter tells me the game "looks just like Vegas". The controls are so simple and smooth that ordering and carrying out tactical actions including repelling, fast ropes, room entries, ect. are not tasks that take you out of the game while you consider and implement; instead, they absorb you in the game easily. You can use your Live headset and give voice commands to control your team but I found the time lapse between my voice and Team Commander's to be too lagging for the confidence you will need to think and act quickly during fire-fights. Again, not a problem, the controller works flawlessly. Another reviewer (on this site or another) had commented that this is a man's game. I agree but I'm sure there are some women out there that might claim it too. The price on this game is another big plus. If you don't have the $30.00 plus tax to throw down on it I would advise trading in Halo 3 for a discount. Your time with your XBOX will be much more challenging and much more fun.
What's great about it: PERFECT balance of tactical and shooting mix, great graphics, great controller setup/use, smart AI, and gameplay a 10
What's not so great: Voice command slow; They could have/should have made it possible to control team through team members hud like GRAW2

I typically would frown upon anyone writing a review before playing through the entire game but I broke my own rule with Halo 3 because it was simply too boring to finish. BIOSHOCK, on the other hand, is simply awesome. I haven't even played half-way through I'm sure but want to put in my two cents worth.
Graphics: 5 = awesome
Sound: 5 = awesome
challenge: 5= awesome
story: 5= awesome
gameplay: 5= awesome

Does anyone else actually feel scared (as in watching a horror movie) at times when your playing this (especially when you hear Big Daddy's footsetps but don't know where he is)? The only thing this game is missing is smell and taste. I just feel that this game was so well thought out, planned, developed and produced that it has set a new, higher bar for all other game developers. As far as that is concerned, 2K will have to work very hard to equal or surpass this if they try a sequal or any other similar game. Thanks 2K for this awesome game. Well worth the cost (even for us workin folks) and much more than simply a "shooter" game. Probably need to add a new category though I wouldn't know what to call it. Then again, maybe that's jumping the gun a bit since for the time being, BIOSHOCK would be the only game listed. Buy it today and make sure you spend your money at Best Buy since they work hard to bring us a good "on the shelf" selection and this great website that helps us in sharing and choosing what to spend our money on.
What's great about it: Awesome
What's not so great: Too Addicting

What's New? NOTHING!
on October 10, 2007
Posted by: JeffH
If you have any previous version of Halo don't waste your money on Halo 3 unless you simply are one of those people who have to have a copy of everything in a series. If you've already read other reviews you probably already know not to buy the "Limited" edition of the game as the packaging is the worst excuse for design and will likely gaurantee that your disk will be severely scratched and possibly unplayable. Serious people- are we gamers really so sususceptible to the hype? Yes, I preordered my copy (though that was not necessary as I don't know of any stores in my community that haven't kept it in stock since the release date) because I was/am a big Halo fan. Does Halo 3 live up to the hype? Not even close. Nothing new (ok you get to drive a 4-wheeler) and the brutes being the main apponents is such a dissapointment as they offer no real challenge compared to the Elites which are far more threatening and interesting to battle. Even the Jackels have lost their skills and are really no more a threat than the little silly sounding grunts. Nothing special with weapon improvements, no new, improved moves or abilities and the graphics are no better than the previous Halo versions (unless you like to watch a bush shake as a character brushes against it). Like others, I couldn't wait to get Halo 3 in my new Xbox 360 Elite. Although I bout the 360 and a new HD TV a few weeks prior to the Halo 3 release, I truly decided to go ahead and spend the $ because Halo 3 was coming out. I'm thankful there are other games. Soon after putting the game in and sitting down with high expectations I found my mood sinking with dissapointment. Not that Halo 3 isn't a good game; it's just that there is nothing improved at all over previous versions (and if anything it is less fun). It did get my blood up for Halo again though and while I haven't finished Halo 3, I have been playing Halo 2 again (and physically ducking and shifting in my chair as I battle an Elite- a reaction Halo 3 hasn't come close to causing). Halo 3 hasn't even been back in my console since 9/27/07. Halo and Halo 2 are much better games, much more challenging and the Elite are far more interesting, challenging, and intense in battle than are the Brutes. Halo 3 has given a whole new meaning to the saying "Two is company and three is a crowd". My copy is taking up space in my case. As a result of it's being the number 3 that makes up my crowd, I gave it 3 stars. Halo and Halo 2 still rate 5 stars in my book.
What's great about it: Halo is a good, fun game with a great story
What's not so great: There is absolutely nothing new that adds to the game

Better than Okay but less than 4 Stars

If your a WWII FPS fan I agree that this should be in your library and in your console from time to time. If your not too into the realistic aspect of shooting this game is for you because your an instant "crack-shot" from the start. It's pretty amazing how easy it is to put down the bad guys, but the game is kept interesting by the number of bad guys your up against. If you want a great FPS WWII game pass this one up and go instead for "Medal of Honor Airborne". It makes far better use of Xbox360's power- graphics and game play of MHA truly blows this game out like a handful of grenades dropped at your feet. The shooting in MHA is far more realistic too, making you earn your kills and skills. I still recommend this game because it's fun and intense and the price is great. I don't regret buying it. Finally, if your considering Call of Duty 3, read the reviews first. Based on them I chose Call of Duty 2 over 3 even though the price was the same. Can't comment beyond that because I haven't played Call of Duty 3 accept for the demo which didn't give me the motivation to rush down to Best Buy.

Best WWII shooter I've played
on September 17, 2007
Posted by: JeffH
I've read a lot of complaints about the shooting/accuracy not being "realistic". A soldier for 8 years, a police officer after that with some experience in both shooting and witnessing someone being shot, I'd say the shooting in this game is probably the most realistic I've seen in a game. Especially compared to the actual military stats on rounds fired per enemies killed. Most would probably be surprised (even with todays technology). Some would be surprised also to know that most people are not stopped, much less killed, by being shot a single time or even several times with small arms (unless it's a head/heart/lung shot-and of course they may bleed out many minutes later no matter where they're hit). We shoot differently today with sight reconfigurations, etc. Try adjusting how you use the sites on the M1 (probably a little higher than your doing). I've hit five in a row head shots with the M1 in the game several times at a fair distance. Short of head shots, if their not dropping right away, it doesn't mean your missing. I think it makes the game more realistic. It takes more than most think to kill a man. Especially one who is energized by combat. One last comment on realistic game-play. The super-soldier at the end is what cost the game a point for me leaving it at 4 stars. He's almost impossible to kill and when you do (won't spoil it for some with how, but I've found two ways so far) he respawns. My favorite shooters of all time is the Ghost Recon series, but the shooting in them is pretty unrealistic when you consider how easy it is to put down a foe and keep him there. So, instead of being frustrated by not having everything drop with every point and shoot, realize that your probably experiencing gameplay in the shooting category that's more REALISTIC than anything you've played before.

The American Colonies, 1775. It's a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation's revolution. Assassin's Creed III takes you back to the American Revolutionary War, but not the one you've read about in history books.

Age Appropriate Violence?
December 31, 2012
What does "the violence is age appropriate" mean? You would need to identify what age group you are talking about in order for that statement to have meaning. I'm not picking on you just curious since I'm considering this game for my grandson.
