seems to work so far, but it can't play any of my recorded dvd's from my aspire digital I purchased a couple of years ago. Looks like the recording standard was changed. I can pull up the title screen but hitting play does nothing but brings me back to the title screen. well at least they are +RW so i can format and reuse but I will be losing a lot of recordings...
recording seems to work fine. playback of DVD movies purchased in the store seem to work fine. Haven't tried dual layer yet.

What's great about it: dolby digitial recording (2 CH)
What's not so great: can't play my other 70 recorded dvd+rw from old dvr recorder, also would have liked an optical output.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
