One of the best movies ever!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time! A story of two brothers, from Boston, that decide to take the law into their own hands. They wipe the scumbags off of the streets and, some how, have a hilarious storyline. A must have for anyone that likes action movies comparable to "Pulp Fiction", "Way of the Gun", etc. also for anyone wanting to see a couple Irish dudes kick some mobster behind! Erin Go Braugh!
What's great about it: Great story, great acting, everything is great
What's not so great: nothing
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's back to the woods for sex and romance in the Brad Renfro vehicle Happy Campers. New Line has done a very good job at producing a sharp-looking 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Sporting solid colors and dark black levels, this is a very pleasing image that includes only the slightest amount of edge enhancement. Also included on this disc is a 1.33:1 full-frame version of the film as well. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and Dolby 2.0 Surround, both in English. While the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack is crystal clear, the directional effects are generally kept to a bare minimum. The bulk of this mix is filtered mainly though the front and center speakers. Also included on this disc are English subtitles. Fans of Happy Campers certainly won't feel elated when they find out that the disc doesn't include a single, solitary extra feature.

Funny movie about people at a summer camp. Not recommended to watch around kids, it has some adult content. All in all, a good buy.

Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes. The story wasn't new in 1986, but Top Gun scored with audiences on the strength of its visuals, especially the vertigo-inducing aerial sequences. The film made more money than any other film in 1986 and even spawned a 1989 takeoff, Hot Shots. An Academy Award went to the Giogio Moroder-Tom Whitlock song "Take My Breath Away."

The first two-disc set from Paramount, Forrest Gump is a sight to see, and sure to please anyone who understood the real meaning of the film. To begin, the picture quality is about as good as it gets. Framed at the original aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and anamorphic, the colors are right on (skin tones are especially on target) and the definition is outstanding. Darker areas stand out with the correct shading that goes to show what can be done with careful authoring. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital English track, is also perfectly realized. Though there is only a slim amount of surround material, the track is very forward and forceful, taking advantage, just at the right time, of the deeper bass. Also available is a French surround track and subtitles in English. As for extras, there is no mistaking that this Academy Award-winning film gets the star treatment. The first of the two discs, along with the movie, has two audio commentary tracks. The first is from director Robert Zemeckis, producer Steve Starkey, and production designer Rick Carter. The second commentary is from another of the producers, Wendy Finerman. Neither is screen-specific, but both are, in different ways, filled with a wealth of valuable information. But it is the second disc that houses the majority of the supplemental materials. There you will find a half-hour documentary (originally released on VHS in 1994) called "Through the Eyes of Forrest Gump." There are enough interviews and behind-the-scenes shots to make this better than the standard fluff piece. Next are some shorter featurettes, "The Magic of Makeup," "Through the Ears of Forrest Gump" (made up of five short segments), and "Building the World Of Forrest Gump -- Production Design." Eleven visual effects discussions, including two scenes that were excised from the film, are the highlight of the extras. Visual effects producer Ken Ralston and his team talk in depth about the multitude of effects shots used in the film. Finally, this disc features a decent photo gallery, some wonderful (though short) screen tests, and a couple of trailers. This is a wonderful DVD set for a memorable movie, certainly worthy of any collection.
