A quick-witted loan shark (John Travolta) ends up in showbiz after pitching a script to a down-on-his-luck filmmaker (Gene Hackman) in this hilarious satire of Hollywood dysfunction from director Barry Sonnenfeld. Viewable in either the original 1.85:1 widescreen theatrical version or standard 1.33:1 full-screen pan-and-scan, and featuring a closed-captioned English Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, this release also offers alternate Spanish Dolby Digital Surround and French Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks in addition to optional English, Spanish, and Korean subtitles. Extra features offer nothing more than a theatrical trailer.

Get Shorty was based on the novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard; Leonard based Chili on a real-life former gangster of his acquaintance, though Chili's model never worked in Hollywood.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and appears to be in all-around excellent shape. The image sports sharply defined colors and dark black levels, making this an enticing DVD transfer. With only the slightest amount of edge enhancement showing up from time to time, this is a winning picture that should please comedy fans. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English, along with Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in French and Spanish. The newly created 5.1 remix is passable, if a little unnecessary. While it's always a pleasure to get a new 5.1 mix on a disc, this film doesn't benefit much from directional effects or Surround sounds. However, all aspects of the film are clear of any excessive hiss or distortion, making this a very enticing track. Also included on this disc are English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles. MGM has seen fit to include a few extra features on this disc, starting with a cute commentary track by director Frank Oz. While Oz isn't always the most chatty of participants, he does share a few anecdotal stories about the making of the film and what it was like to work with stars Michael Caine and Steve Martin. A very brief behind-the-scenes featurette lasts only moments and is basically one long trailer for the film. Finally there is a theatrical trailer for the film, and a very funny teaser trailer with optional commentary by the director.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a remake of the 1964 film farce Bedtime Story. Steve Martin and Michael Caine take over the roles originally played by Marlon Brando and David Niven: two international con artists, plying their trade on gullible wealthy women up and down the Riviera. Martin and Caine vie over the honor of fleecing ingenuous heiress Glenne Headly (in a role originated by Shirley Jones).

The latest and most outrageous in a wave of UK comic horror films like Shaun of the Dead, Doghouse is a raucous, balls-out funny spin on male insecurity over their own masculinity and vengeful women. A group of guys (including Danny Dyer of the Football Factory and Severance and Stephen Graham of Snatch and Public Enemies) head off for a boys weekend to buck up a friend still depressed over a painful divorce. Unfortunately, they end up in an isolated town infected with a bio-weapon that has turned all the women into the man-hating monsters the lads always suspected women were at heart. The guys spend less time bonding and a lot more time fleeing from hairdressers, nurses, schoolgirls and other iconic female figures all looking to snip away with scissors and swords and literally do what the guys have been fearing for years. Deftly satirical, witty and just bloody good fun, Doghouse is the most original battle of the sexes in years.
