I have been using my 1D Mark II N since getting it having graduated from my Canon 20D. I wanted the 8.5 fps and the full features of the 1D series and was amazed at the quality of pictures it produced, even at only 8mp. The 7D has many of the features of my 1D and then some... HD video, live view, higher mp count and almost as high fps. The 18+mp cmos will test your lenses even more than my older 1D. Between the 1.6 crop factor and the 18+mp, you will need to use L series lenses or their equivalent to not be plagued by soft pictures. If you put the right lenses on it, your pictures should be stunning, mine were. The CF's for "lens micro adjust" makes it very easy to get spot-on photos, and the self cleaning cmos is nice (wish my 1D had it). I don't use the video aspect of this camera, not sure I will, I have a video camcorder for that. Over-all very impressed with this camera and all it has to offer.
What's great about it: Very easy to set up if you have worked with Canon D series cameras before.
What's not so great: Shows flaws in all but the best glass.
