I was shopping between the 7D and D7000 and had ample time to shoot with both. Being an old Nikon FM user, I thought my biases would have me leaning towards the Nikon but the Canon truly won me over. The canon takes the cake in build quality, ease of use, and in my opinion IQ as well. I really liked how responsive the Canon was and I consistently got more keepers from my sports shots (could be because of the 8fps burst mode). When I handed both cameras over to my wife and had them set in Auto mode and using 50mm primes in both, the difference in IQ was clear to me. The images on the Canon were visibly sharper. In other modes, you can make sharpness adjustments and shoot visibly sharp pics with the D7000, but in auto, the photos just seemed a tad soft. Don't get me wrong, the D7000 is an amazing camera and in capable hands can take tack sharp pics (Low light capabilities gives the D7000 the edge), but when it came to deciding between the two with my wife, the Canon won. You can't go wrong with either, but I recommend the Canon.
What's great about it: Build quality, IQ, Ease of use, great shots in Auto mode.
What's not so great: No dual card slots, Kit lens is so-so, Priced a little high at the moment due to the disaster in Japan.

Upgraded from an 80gb, 5400rpm Hitachi drive on my Dell E1505. The performance difference was VERY noticeable. Boots up Windows Vista (SP1) quickly, and runs programs and games much faster. I've upgraded a lot of drives on my desktop and this jump was one of the most surprisingly good performance boosts I have seen. Temps are moderate, speed is fantastic, and drain on battery seems to be about the same as my old 5400 drive. Noise level is is just a tad bit more, but not too much, but I'm not one who is looking for a super silent notebook any ways. If performance is your goal, this drive is a CAN'T MISS! Check out reviews on Storagereview.com and you'll see that this drive blows other notebook drives away!
What's great about it: Performance, Temps, Power Requirements
What's not so great: A little bit louder than my old drive.
