"The version of Rock band comes only with the game, now you cannot play the game without some sort of instrument. So if here’s the trick. If you have guitar hero II or III then you can use that guitar on this game, also the microphone from Karaoke Revolution would work on this game as well. If you have nothing you will have to buy a guitar, the drums, or a microphone in order to play it. I recommend if you want a whole band set to buy the Special edition that comes with 1 guitar, 1 drum set and a microphone. You would still need to buy an extra guitar, but it is much cheaper then buying everything separately. As for the game though it is great. There are a lot of different ways to play this game. You can do a solo tour on any instrument except the bass, but you can play any song you have unlocked on any instrument. Also there is online play where you can play with a whole band from different areas one song at a time, or you can play a score battle against the same instrument for who gets the higher score wins. There is a tug o war against the same instrument as well that you play a cord the other player does the next cord and so on. When you play a note your bar goes more your way and when they play one right more theirs. Also, there is the Band World Tour. You do have to have at least 2 instruments going for you to be able to play this and there are so many set lists you will get sick of some of the songs. It is a lot of fun though. You can download new music for the game and they release new songs every Tuesday to download (You do have to pay for the songs though). These don’t really get incorporated into the Band World tour except in the Random set lists and the make your own set lists and this is the only problem with the band world tour because there is not enough of the create or random ones. All in all I have been playing this game since I got it for Christmas last year and I am still having a blast playing it alone or with friends. I say if you’ve ever played an instrument game similar to this, or if you like music in general you should try this one out." thank you for making this game to... whoever made it... =} This game is fun for the whole family, even the less than gaming savy members. Now, remember though, that you need to at least get one instrument to play, like the drum set or guitar. If you want them all, go for the set, as its cheaper than buying them seperate. It is easy to start this game for those who are not as quick with their fingers, just set the difficulty down on any of your favorite songs. You can also play a band world tour to unlock more popular songs. As well as that, you can connect online and use your live points for more and more songs, new songs added every week. Overall, this is an excelent game, great for everyone, awesome for parties too!
What's great about it: Great game, great music, a lot of fun
What's not so great: The World tour is long and repetitive

This game is totaly outstanding. The graphics are sharp, the game-play is smooth. I enjoy playing this game. Even after the game is complete, there is still hours of extra side-missions that can be played. With the many things you can do in the game and also the hours you can spend playing multiplayer it is worth picking up. The gameplay is so much better than its previous series. I recommend picking up this game to anyone who likes free roam games.
What's great about it: Very detailed environment Free roaming map with no load times when i go to any part of the city.
What's not so great: to many cops,,no customized music
