What a zippy little laptop!

I was looking for a new computer since my husband's HP (budget) gaming laptop is on it's last legs. I'm giving him my old computer (HP Envy M7-K111DX), so I was looking for a similarly equipped machine for myself.
I've been loyal to HP products for over 20 years. I've tried a couple other brands along the way (Acer, Asus) and always went back to HP. As such, my first thought was to get another HP machine, but I also had a price point in mind. An HP laptop with similar (but updated) specs to mine (dedicated NVIDIA graphics card, full HD screen, 4th gen Intel i7 processor) were just beyond what I was willing to spend. As I was shopping around the web, I saw that my local Best Buy had a deal on an Open-Box Samsung Spin in Excellent Condition. After reading some online reviews, I headed over to the store to take a look at the floor model.
The first thing I noticed was how sleek it looked. It being a 2-in-1 is a nice feature, but it wasn't an overriding factor in my list of wants. I need robust equipment under the hood, and the best bang for my buck. I feel like I'm upgrading every 2-3 years. I'm a heavy user - I like a few different browsers open with several tabs simultaneously. I watch videos and movies, both streaming and downloaded content, and I take (and store) lots of pictures. The salesperson at the store said this was built to last the user through 5 years. That helped me make the decision to buy.
The Open Box unit was missing a manual (easily obtained online) and had a few scratches on the underside of the case. The computer fired right up and I had no problems with set up.
One of the best things I noticed was that there was NO bloatware. That's a fantastic feature. The screen looked great. I have no issues with the resolution or graphics. It's a zippy little machine. I can surf and watch videos with almost no drag. It's very quiet while running - as I'm typing this I'm listening to my HP making all kinds of "running noises" and all it's doing is showing a static web page.
I have a while to test drive this computer, but so far so good. I'm much happier with this machine than I was when I first brought my HP Envy home.

This was the first electric toothbrush I've used. I've used the traditional toothbrush for many years, probably long past I should have. I do have periodontal disease and I don't brush my teeth nearly as well as I should. This motivated me to finally try an electric brush.
The brush is packed very nicely, and is easy to set up. The Bluetooth feature is nice, but I don't know that it's necessary. The app is only available on iPhones, and even though I could download it to my iPad, the resolution was poor. I didn't use that feature.
The vibration of the brush is something that you'll need to get used to, if this is your first Sonicare. You'll need to learn how to get the toothpaste on to your brush and get it on your teeth before the brush vibrates it off. I had a couple of mishaps with that.
The brush is FANTASTIC at cleaning your teeth. I used the "clean" function, and my teeth felt great after the first use. With the old brush, I would still feel like there was a film on my teeth. In between cleanings, I would certainly feel like I was due for one. With the Sonicare, my teeth feel like I just visited the dentist.
I won't be going back to a manual brush after using the Sonicare.

Nice Dryer

I have short, fine, wavy hair, and not a lot of patience for hair drying. Typically, I let my hair air dry overnight, since I don't like to take the time to dry my hair. I was intrigued by the look of this dryer, though, and wanted to try it. Dyson is fairly innovative, and I wanted to see what they brought to hair dryers.
The first thing I noticed is how nicely the unit is packaging. It's almost TOO nice, but I guess for the price it should be really appealing. Instead of all the little baggies and ties that you get with most products, the unit was laid out neatly in a liner within a box with a lid. You could theoretically store your product in the box. There were WAY too many plastic coverings on the all the finished parts, though. That was annoying to peel all of those sticky films off before use.
The unit comes with a rubber mat (to lay the dryer on), a hanging loop (which I could not figure out where to attach to the dryer), a diffuser, two other attachments, and the instructions.
The dryer is really beautiful. I love the pink color, and the LED lights. Very high tech. I was surprised how loud it was, though. It was quieter than my old dryer, but I was assuming that, after looking at all the tech that went into it, it would be quiet. I was disappointed in that.
As far as use, I tried the diffuser first. I know that's best for curly hair, but I didn't have the patience for it. After a couple of minutes of no progress, I took it off and was hit with a strong wind. I had the unit on low but it still had a great blast of air. My hair was dry within a couple of minutes. I use a Paul Mitchell product to add volume to my hair, and this dryer worked well with it. My hair was quite full looking.
If you are in the market for a new dryer, and you love innovative products, I would consider the Dyson.

Great Gadget

This is a great little trimmer. This unit comes with several attachments along with a leather case to keep them all in. I charged it for a day before using, and a week later, it still holds a charge.
You have two speeds - regular, and you have a Turbo button for those stubborn hairs. This is primarily used with the body shaver. While this feature is nice in theory, I didn't feel there was a lot of difference in effectiveness. The shaver performed like a typical electric shaver of this type, as in I didn't think it cut very close, My husband said it was fine, but his normal 5-blade, non-powered razor still does a better job. I did try the body shaver on my own, fine, arm hair, and it did an OK job with that.
The precision trimmer and the nose trimmer work great. I used the precision trimmer to clean up the hairs on my husband's neck, and the nose trimmer to tame his eyebrows.

I was really excited to get this Shark vacuum. I have a Dyson vacuum and it was NOT worth the purchase price. I had high hopes for the Shark, based on reputation.
The blue color was gorgeous, and I loved the appliance wand that came with it. I thought that was a really neat idea.
I found that the vacuum, during the first use, was quite awkward. All the weight is managed in one hand, rather than being evenly distributed. Because the weight is in the upper part of the unit, the vacuum does NOT STAND UP BY ITSELF. I put the emphasis on this because it's so unusual for a vacuum. You have to find something to lean it against JUST SO, or plan on laying it down on the floor.
The wand worked great - picked up a lot of stuff from under the stove. My refrigerator did not have enough clearance for it to go underneath.
I was able to use the unit twice. Then it stopped picking up. I went to the troubleshooting online, found out that I had to check for clogs. I had to take it all apart and use a curtain rod to push out the clog (a mix of hair, bits of paper, and lint). I put it back together and...it still would not pick up consistently. It would pick up a bit, then spit it back out on to the carpet. I had to get out the Dyson and try to clean up the mess the Shark made.
Based on this experience, I would not purchase another Shark product. I also am still looking for a quality vacuum.

Nice Charging Station

This is a very nice charging stand. The first thing that I noticed about it was its weight. It's a hefty product. My previous stand for my Apple Watch was very flimsy and was easily knocked over. The Belkin stand feels more like a paperweight. The other feature that I really like was that the lighting port was adjustable. You can make it taller or shorter, and it moves back and forth so that you can accommodate your phone. I have my phone in a Speck case, and it fit great. Other chargers that I've had would not accommodate the phone in the case. If you need a charger for both your Apple Watch and iPhone, this is a great choice.

Missed Opportunity

I have a small corner of my home where wi-fi is not the most reliable, so I thought this would be a good solution. The problem that I have with items like this, is that they take up the ENTIRE outlet. I don't have that many outlets in my home. I'm not sure why they don't make it easier for it to multi-task.
I also have an extender so that I can use a wired connection (which takes up an entire wall outlet but also has an outlet). I require a wired connection to work at home. This unit only has a ethernet "in" port, and not an "out", so I couldn't replace my extender because it doesn't have the functionality I need. Again, I would think that it could have both options in the same unit.
We are planning to move soon, so maybe it will be something I can utilize in the new home.

So far, so good after a rough start

I have U-verse for my internet service. I had an issue with a router being hooked up to my U-Verse when they first installed years ago, so I had wanted to make sure the modem I had was compatible with the EA9500. I contacted Linksys online support via chat (sidebar: I LOVE being able to connect to companies via chat rather than on the phone). The first person I connected with transferred our chat to another specialized rep. I was online with him for THREE HOURS trying to get this router to work. In the end, he had me do what I would have done in the first place, which was plug it into my modem directly. So, my trying to avoid spending a lot of time setting up an (potentially) incompatible unit was all for naught, as I ended up spending more time on it anyway.
That said, once we were hooked up, the unit works like a charm. The speeds on the 2.4 GHz connection are 19.39 mbps download, and 4.60 mbps upload. The 5 GHz is 27.86 mbps download and 3.98 mbps upload. According to AT&T, my Service Capability Speed for my plan is 18.1 Mbps - 24 Mbps.
Connecting to the network was pretty seamless once set up was complete. It's nice to have an app to be able to manage my settings. It also has the ability to set up Guest Internet access, and Parental Controls.
I'm pretty happy with this item. I wish the setup information would h have been clearer from the start, though - I would have saved three hours.

Good budget tablet

I'm not a huge fan of Acer products, as I previously owned a less-than-steller Acer laptop. I'm also not a lover of the Android operating system, but this tablet may be bringing me into the fold.
I also have an iPad Air 2 that I use on a daily basis. Because the iPad would cost so much to replace, I don't usually travel with it. This tablet seems like it would do what I need it to, and I can feel a little more at ease traveling with it.
One thing I noticed was that it feels heavier in the hand than the iPad does. It's thin enough, though, that it still feels manageable. The operating system is Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It does feel a little slower than my Samsung S7, but not annoying so. When I open the multi window view, it takes a couple of seconds for the "X" in the right corner to appear before I can close any apps.
The setup was fairly easy, but not as intuitive as the Samsung. You aren't paying Samsung prices for this unit, though. The syncing with my Google account was pretty seamless.
I like the texture on the rear of the case. Usually, with my electronics, I feel that I have to protect it from all manner of scratches, so I will order skins to put on the back. Because of the material this tablet is made from, it resists fingerprints and scratches.
I found the accessories assortment completely lacking. I like to keep my electronics in heavy duty cases, and the Acer really doesn't have a robust offering of add-ons in that regard.
All in all, I think it's a good investment for the price point. It's not a Galaxy or a iPad, but it gets the job done.

I have this bag and I love it. It's quite spacious for what I need to carry. I have an HP Stream 13" laptop in it's own sleeve, the power cord, a portable cooling fan for the computer, as well as a lot of misc. items. Everything is easy to find and pack. It will fit up to a 17" laptop (I've tried it) and it does fit, though not in the designated laptop pocket. If you have that large of a laptop then you'd have to use the main pocket. The quality is great and I love the material. The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer would be to offer an optional cross body strap. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this bag.
