Defective Disks

The first disk wouldn't play(xbox360) even though other disks had no problems so I returned it. BB was good about the exchange. The new one wouldn't play either. I searched about it and found lots of other complaints similar to this and some steps to make sure it was a disk and not the xbox (clear the cache etc.) Someone said that looking closely at the bad disk you could see where the glue was not put down even on the manufacturing. Sure enough, I could see what looked kind of like a wet stain part way around the center hole. (No wasn't a wet stain) It's easiest to see if you look close with a flashlight. Apparently there is a Quality Control issue with these disks. I'll be exchanging/returning this one in the next couple of days
What's not so great: Bad disks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

new or refurbished

wanted to get an xbox 360 is it good to purchase a refurbished one? what type of warranty does it come with should something not work down the road? thank you
For the warranty the answer depends on where you are buying it. If at BB, ask their customer service. As far as quality, a refurb should be fine and might even be better (as it probably fixed a problem - search RROD). Be wary of buying used ones such as from auction sites as they may come with problems or be 'banned' from xbox Live (meaning the original owner was banned for some reason and that xbox won't be allowed on the xbox service).
