ScrapQueen's Reviews

Jonathan Lynn's Clue has gained something of a cult following since its original release in 1985. The disc of the film offers a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the theatrical trailer. The gimmick when the film was initially released was that it had three different endings. When the film began to air on television, the three endings were combined into one finale. The disc offers the viewer the choice to view any of the three conclusions. This is a fine release from Paramount, but they really could have done more with it, especially the soundtrack.

A Collection Must Have!

This is your classic "who done it" with several possible endings. It's a great rainy day movie even if you have seen it a million times like I have! It's great to see Tim Curry, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Eileen Brennan, Christopher Lloyd & Madeline Kahn looking so young! I truly loved this movie and when I found it on DVD, I snatched it up right away!
What's great about it: Funny & Entertaining
What's not so great: No extras to really speak of on the DVD

This movie has a cute concept but the scenes in it are HILARIOUS! Steve Carell and the "man-o-lantern" scene is spectacular! And the extras of that scene are just as funny! This is a great comedy about dating and a guy who is just a BIT on the nerdy side! A must see if you like weird humor!
What's great about it: Steve Carell getting waxed!

Gary Winick's Big-inspired romantic comedy 13 Going on 30 debuts on DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1., and subtitles are available in both of those languages as well. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Winick as he discusses various aspects of the production, careful to lavish plenty of praise on leading actress Jennifer Garner and male lead Mark Ruffalo. A second commentary track featuring three of the film's producers has a nice slumber-party feel to it, while still offering substantial insight into how the film came together. Deleted and extended scenes, a featurette in which the cast discusses what they were like in high-school, and a pair of '80s vintage music videos round out this solid release from Columbia TriStar.

This is a cute movie for anyone who was pushed around in junior high by the more popular kids. To get a wish like this would be really neat! To know then what I know now, would have been a wonderful advantage over those snobby girls we all had in high school. Am I right? This movie is cute, funny and heart warming. It's a feel good movie about growing up and knowing that just because someone's "cool" in school, doesn't mean they will turn out that way as an adult!
What's great about it: Seeing 80's clothes again HAHA

A SUPER SEQUEL!!!

This second installment is a fantastic addition! The story is all new yet ties to the first movie so it's almost like a continuation of the story. I love that all the original characters (played by the original actors) are still around. I hate it when there are replacement actors in sequels. The plot is interesting and the on screen chemistry between Jon Voight and Helen Mirren is hilarious! I love the combination of drama, suspense and comedy in a movie! This is a must buy for your DVD collection! The only scene that I feel slowed the movie was the scene in the water with Ed Harris.
What's great about it: Wonderful story line with original characters!
What's not so great: One scene kind of slows movie.

Funny and Cute

Wedding Crashers is your typical boy meets girl, boy screws up & loses girl, boy redeems himself and gets girl in the end kind of movie, but Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are always good for funny movies. Not side splitting, roll on the floor laughter, but a good chuckle. It's one of those movies that when it's on TV, it's a good one to watch. There are some really cute parts and of course the warm and fuzzy ending. Enjoy!
What's great about it: Funny and Cute
What's not so great: The typical romantic comedy

I happen to like the sequels of Saw. I like the fact that there are new and interesting ways to kill off the victims but that they somehow link back to what happened in the last two movies. It makes me really pay attention so that I can put the puzzle together. Even though the movies have a high level of gore, the plot allows me to look past the blood and focus on the unique and intricate machines and devices used to test the characters. It amazes me that even though there are so many sequels, the director keeps me guessing.
What's great about it: #3 links with the first 2 movies

Mike Nichols' comedy The Birdcage comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. Subtitles are available in all three of these languages as well. Supplemental materials include a theatrical trailer. This is a fine release of an entertaining film that will please most everybody, but thrill very few.

A Classic!

This movie will appeal to even those who don't normally watch movies of this genre. There are quite a few scenes throughout the movie that I almost lost my soda through my nose! And whenever it's on TV, I HAVE to watch it - even with the TV editing. I have been a long time fan of Robin Williams but the entire ensemble of cast members is a fantastic mix! To see Gene Hackman in drag is great! He really makes a convincing woman! The physical comedy is great but the lines that me and my friends have stolen from the movie are priceless! "I pierced the toast" will remain a favorite whenever we think life has handed us a bad day.
What's great about it: Robin Williams, Nathan Lane & Hank Azaria!
What's not so great: There needs to be more extras

The adventures of Remy are quite entertaining. I especially enjoyed the scene with his brother when they cook the mushroom! "It tastes lighteningy?" :) Even though its an animated movie which usually means it's for kids, my adult friends and I enjoyed this little tale about becoming something different than what others expect.
What's great about it: Great animation
What's not so great: Nothing really

Great Special Effects

Since I happened to LOVE the first two movies in this trilogy, I anticipated a great #3 and wasn't disappointed. For one, I think Johnny Depp does a wonderful job playing Jack Sparrow. He's funny, charismatic and charming all the while he's stealing everything you own! And of course we cannot forget the rest of the cast that make this third installment a feast for the senses. Not only are the special effect fascinating but the characters come alive with the help of great acting. If you can't tell, I absolutely would recommend this movie! :)
What's great about it: Jack Sparrow sails again!!!
What's not so great: There wasn't more movie!
