GTA IV is an excellent game. Liberty City is by far the most realistic feeling city of the GTA series, and the missions in the game are interesting and challenging. I really enjoyed the improvements made to the controls for driving and for combat. On the negative side, I felt the friends system was interesting for a little while, but eventually it just became a hassle and an annoyance. Also, I missed some things that were in the previous games in the series such as purchasing properties, airplanes, bikes, and character improvement.
What's great about it: Fun missions, Most realistic city in a game
What's not so great: Friends distract from rest of game, loss of some of what made previous games great
