Good Value but not as fast as others

It is always fun to test the speeds of today's latest SSD drives. They get so fast, how do you know which is the fastest. I was able to test out this drive. I have used many NVME high speed drives so have a good idea of the performance one can expect. The setup was pretty smooth. I installed in the spare slot of my desktop and used the included Acronis True Image software. This would normally be a smooth process. However it failed numerous times during the cloning process. I spent 2 hours trying to get it to move my existing ssd to this one so I did not have to reinstall anything. In the end I was unable to get Windows to boot.
I had to reinstall Win 11 with the new SSD installed and then everything worked. To be fair I could have tried support in case there was something I was missing but it should just work and I have had other brands successfully work like this so I just reinstalled the OS. Finally in use it is hard to tell how fast the drive is. It peformed just as snappy as any SSD appears. I copied large files to/from. I loaded games and large .Raw files and all worked instantly. I did run a speed test against the drive that came with my Desktop and unfortunately this was slower. Most users will not notice and if this drive is cheaper then I would go for it. However if there are other brands in the same price range I would recommend checking actual reviews for speeds as this is not the fastest of their class for a PCI 4.0 SSD.

Awesome Gaming Tower for the price

Setup: This is a really complete gaming tower. The setup was pretty simple. It was well packed and included an RGB wired keyboard/mouse. I plugged in the tower and pushed power. The basic setup thru Win 11 was pretty smooth and fast. Then I ran the usual updates. Initially the desktop ran slow the first few hours as it was downloading and updating drivers, Windows and Graphics card. After those it ran smooth. I am not much of a fan of the Acer care app that looks for system updates as there is no way to hide it and it runs in the tray. After creating an Acer account and registering it I was ready to go.
Use:
I liked the performance and the included 1TB SSD is plenty fast. The SSD is the same as laptops. M2 NVME and it is PCIE 4 which means it is the fastest speeds currently out. The initial noise from the Tower is very quiet for a gaming computer. There is a software app called Predator Sense is pretty useful in that you can see/tweak your CPU/fan temps. Also set the fan control from auto to Gaming. I did find the Gaming to be the best for keeping a cool system but it does not auto switch when going from gaming to regular productivity so I have to physically switch it every time. I like how you can change the lighting in this for cool effects with all of the fans/leds on the motherboard. It really makes the computer look cool in my room. Normally I keep the tower under my desk but this looks so cool that I leave it on the desk since the lighting is cool and the side is clear so you can see the insides and they are very neat and organized. I do like the spare USB A and C ports included on the top of the tower near the power button and the Mouse/keyboard can change lighting but there are 3rd party options that are worth the upgrade if it is in your budget.

Video Editing and Adobe Lightroom:
I found this to be very smooth when editing 50 raw files and converting them to JPG after it was one of the fastest, I have ever used for this task. I would have preferred upgrading this to 32GB ram for these tasks. I did edit a 9min 4k video and export it to 1080P for a Facebook upload and again no slow down and very fast performance.
I really like the performance of the full voltage 3070 (Usually 210-220 Watts) combined with the 12th Gen Intel I7 chip makes for a fast system since it has the cooling to keep the CPU core temps from throttling. I found these to run the hottest I have tested to date so this truly is leaps and bounds above the mobile counterparts. The build quality is amazing for the pricepoint and there is room for expansion with the ram and 2 more HDD slots that are toolless which is also a nice premium touch. In reviewing all the gaming desktops under $2k available this takes top honors for me since it is well built and looks awesome. Also there does not feel like anything was shortcut except the fan control software. Other Thoughts are I wish Acer had more wireless mechanical keyboard options to match and other gaming peripherals. Acer did a great job on this system. Also, I like the included Killer 2.5gbps NIC card over the plain Intel 1Gbps.

Owlet Dream Duo Review, I love this thing.

We are first time parents and getting this was so helpful with having the peace of mind at night. The app tells you how long our baby has slept, when he is in deep sleep or light, and when he wakes up! We can also monitor heart rate, oxygen levels, and are alerted if something is off or not reading correctly! You are given 4 sets of socks 2 for the right foot and 2 for the left. So it’s nice you can rotate weekly what foot you are putting the sock on, and wash the one he was wearing that previous week. When the sock is disconnected or not reading properly you are prompted by the receiver and it will light up certain colors to tell you what is wrong, and it plays a tune so you have that audio cue and visual cue to go see what needs to be adjusted or what is up with our baby boy!
The set up was smooth because you just have to connect with your wifi and make sure to follow the prompts on the app all in all pretty easy to figure out!! You receive the camera and and sock and do have to set them up one at a time, but the setup was about 20 minutes with both sock and camera.
The dream duo comes with wall mounting kits so we could easily mount the camera to where our baby’s crib was and monitor him during naps and night time. Another thing I love is that the base of the holder is magnetic so you can reposition the camera in any way you need and it’s secure and easy to access if you are going out of town and would need to grab it and bring it along for the weekend!
The other thing I noticed was it was easy to add another child to the system, you just enter their name, weight, date of birth, and then you can have them wear the sock and record those readings, this is great when we eventually have another baby and we will want both kids to use the sock to monitor during their sleep cycles and get those patterns to better help them get sleep at night. The sock does have two different weights to it and you start off with your newborn, and go up to a toddler age kiddo!
I am very happy with the owlet duo and will recommend it to friends and family in the future for their little ones and even growing kiddos!

Great if you need a keyboard

This is a nice case for your Ipad if you need to use a keyboard. It makes the Ipad more user friendly for school/work.
Setup:
The setup was easy. I put my Ipad in the main rubber case. It was simple and seems to provide good protection for just carrying the tablet. Then I had to turn on the keyboard and hold down the 1 key to turn on pairing mode. Then under settings in the Ipad I was able to connect to the keyboard. The real pairing was typing a code provided on the Ipad with the keyboard. Then I was able to use everything.

The included keyboard/trackpad are very well made and the keys light in the dark which is very helpful. The travel is decent for what you’re getting, and the trackpad is very smooth. I just find it not a heavily used feature since it is much easier to touch the screen. I do wish there were more shortcut keys closer to the trackpad vs in the top row of the keyboard. The battery life lasted 2 full days before requiring a charge which is very decent. They did include a USB charging cable which is now the standard.

I was excited to try this to recover faster from running and working out. Lately it seems like my legs hurt for the next few days after a run.
I setup everything pretty simply. The legs connect to tubes that connect to the main unit. I downloaded the Hyperice app and created an account. Then it searched for the device and found it. I then proceeded to run a 45min recovery routine.
Use:
It inflated with some decent pressure on setting 4 out of 7. After 20 min it felt like my left foot was being squished so I took it down to 3 out of 7. That was more comfortable. The machine definetely gave me a light massage feeling and I could feel it moving my circulation in my legs. I then proceeded to use this for a few more days running different routines. Overall it worked pretty good. I just am not sure how much I feel I recovered for the next run. I did feel less soreness but it did not replace a good stretch and massage. Also I felt at times it was too hard on my legs. I wish there were more pressure modes.

When I would turn on the pump you had to go to the app after the pump was on. If you did it in reverse order the app would not connect so I would say that is a con. The battery lasted for 5 different routines before it said low power which was nice not to be plugged into the wall. Also I like how the legs fit all the people in the family so they can try it out vs a predetermined size would be limiting.
Cons: I am not sure the recovery value is worth the price but it did work. I also thought the bluetooth connection was not very smooth to the app. Finally if your foot is not centered it can feel very tight when at pressure mode 3 or more. Finally if ending a routine I found it a hassle to pull your legs out and get all of the air out of the legs to put away if ending mid routine.

Best Bluetooth Speaker for 2022

Setup: Pretty simple. I unboxed it and plugged it in the wall and connected the USB C power cord to the back. Then it was charging. I turned it on and it entered pairing. I went to my iPhone settings and connected and was able to stream music. Everything worked well. I further setup the Sony Music Fiesta app and it gave me options for sound profile, pairing other speakers, controlling lighting profiles. In the app you can control your music like on phone or Spotify so that makes things easy. Also, you can not use the app and just stream music from your device like any other Bluetooth source which is how I prefer it
Sound Quality: I played with the clear sound profile and the manual Eq but unfortunately, I was not able to get a balance of bass from the mega bass vs no bass with mega bass off. I understand though since it Is Bluetooth, and the speakers are only so big. The biggest surprise is the separation of mids and tweeters which gives cleaner and louder sound. This really moved this device up a whole other level form the smaller previous gen Sony Bluetooth speaker. They were smaller but this is worth the trade of for a fuller sound.
Speaker phone: I tried the speaker phone since that was unique to this category of device. I was told that the callers on the other side could hear their own voices and my voice was very faint. I tried to get close and at a normal 6’ distance and nothing helped. In a pinch I could see it working for a friend who calls in at a gathering where everyone would talk to them but for anything else I think there are many other options.
Battery life. I found I was able to listen to it all day at work for 3 days now for 8 hrs and it still has not died. Also, I did charge my phone on the included usb ports while streaming for 3 hours. That is more than enough to go between charges for me. I think you could easily make a few days at the beach or camping without a power charger.
Other: I liked the built-in handle which is nice. I like that it is waterproof and dustproof so if can really be used anywhere. I also like the lights on the side subs which as pizzaz without being too much. I also am not sure on the size since it is pretty wide which is fine but I cannot stand it on it’s side without covering one of the speakers. I think this is the most balanced Bluetooth speaker I have tested to date. Awesome job Sony.

Nice Bumper case with smart cover benefit

I like this case. It has a nice protective bumper case with a pen holder. The cover is a smart cover like material so helps it prop up and protects the screen. For travel or falls I like that is has a little flap that keeps the cover on tight via magnets. All in well built and an affordable price. The color is just ok but I thought the blush would have been more muted and less pink. A great affordable case for your Ipad. Very fitting for the price of the Ipad. Also it works on Gen 7-9 so luckily it made it a few generations before needing to get a new case. The only worry I have is how clean the blush cover will stay since it seems like it will get dirty easy. In the end that is the only con for this product. Normally these cases make the Ipad thick and heavy but this did a nice job at balancing that out so another win to Modal. Another side note is the cover that touches the screen is micro suede so will keep it clean when opening and closing it. The only room for improvement would be to see more color options and offer a version without the pen hold just to save on size and weight but that is just a wish list.

Awesome Mini Wireless Keyboard

This is an excellent gaming keyboard from Corsair. I was excited to see how it performs to the competition. Finally, a wireless mini keyboard from Corsair. The unboxing was simple. USB C adapter an turn on the keyboard. Then go to corsair and download the Icue software. After installation I was able to configure my macro keys I play with and apply a color theme. The dashboard showed my GPU and CPU temps which was a nice touch. It was nice to apply an over the air firmware update to the keyboard and receiver. In use it felt small and the buttons very responsive. I did find myself getting frustrated coming from a full size keyboard since the keys felt crammed. I like the arrow keys and the lack of them is frustrating. I had to reprogram my other keys to avoid pressing Function. The feel and response is excellent. This must be one of the most blended feels of mechanical without too much noise. This is just between. The keys are double shot so I have no worries of them wearing anytime soon. After several hours of use it looked like I never touched it which was a good thing. I also found that the battery lasted all weekend without running low. A key feature in a gaming keyboard. This keyboard also works with everything from mobile, console to PC/Mac. After some gaming sessions I was able to use on my Ipad which was a nice cross over since it is small and pairs nicely with it. The included cable is braided and made well and has some good length to it. They provided a different space bar and universal key cap which is nice for customizing it. When not In use the dongle stores nicely in the front of the keyboard. I do wish they found room for the arrow keys and made a slightly larger version for versatility. Otherwise, everything works great. The brightness of the keyboard is even and easy to see even with the lights on.

This is an excellent gaming mouse from Alienware. I was excited to see how it performs to the competition. The unboxing was simple. USB C adapter and turn the mouse on the wireless symbol mode. Then go to Dell and download the Alienware control center software. After installation I was able to change the DPI response and the color theme. It was nice to apply an over the air firmware update to the mouse. In use it felt light and the buttons very responsive. I did find myself hitting the buttons on the right of the mouse. I have never seen buttons there and for a right-handed person it was pretty annoying to keep hitting buttons that I would never use. I just left them disabled and after an hour I forgot they were there. I played a few matches of Fortnite and the comfort and response were great. I also found that the battery lasted all weekend without running low. A key feature in a gaming mouse. The adapter has a dual connection that allows the mouse to charge and gives you another USB-C port for the adapter which is a nice touch. Also, it is magnetic and breaks away if bumped. Therefore I recommended for a laptop as I have bent many adapters over the years. The included cable is braided and made well and has some good length to it. I also paired it to my laptop to test the Bluetooth and that was very smooth also. No issues. I would definitely recommend this for the versatility and the cool Alien logo.

I replaced another cheaper smart thermostat that failed on me in less than 2 years with this Sensei. The previous one I had gave me very convoluted instructions to set it up with my air conditioning unit and the wiring was extremely difficult and took me a long time. I hadn’t read many reviews on the Sensei unit, but it was much cheaper than some of the more popular brands. This made me hesitant to buy it because I was afraid it would be difficult to setup. I was pleasantly surprised that this one was much easier to setup than the previous one I had. The app walked me through the wiring step-by step without a hitch and I had it installed in about 20 minutes. There were also step-by-step instructions following the wiring for configuring this unit for my style of central air system. As a bonus, I had a technician check my system several months back because it was not heating. He had told me that the heat pump had failed and would need to be replaced. This was a very expensive repair, and I didn’t get it replaced yet because in Florida you don’t need heat very often. Come to find out after installing this Sensei unit my heat is working again! My previous smart thermostat must have been causing the heating issue all along! I really like the simple display and the large number for the temperature allows me to see it from the other side of the room. I only have a couple of small complaints with this thermostat so far. I feel like the scheduling can be much simpler. I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos to understand the concept of the scheduling, and I’m still not sure I have it setup correctly. I would like to be able to just simply tell it to turn up the temperature at the times I leave of my house and turn it down shortly before I get home and then leave it at a certain temperature on the weekends when I am home. I has all these swing temperature configurations you have to setup in the schedule, and I had to make multiple schedules just to be able to setup different times for the weekends. Maybe I’m just not understanding it completely, but it could be much simpler in my opinion. The second complaint is that I wish it had a proximity feature like my previous one had. This made it so that if I got more than ½ mile from house it would adjust the temperature. This feature was very nice for times when I would leave my house that weren’t in my schedule, and I didn’t have to remember to change the thermostat before I leave. So far, I haven’t found this feature on the Sensei unit. All-in-all this is a very nice thermostat. The simple setup is very nice, and the app is very simple and easy to use. As for the quality and longevity, only time will tell.

It is a huge step up from the original IPhone. Each Year they get better and better. This year finally the most needed thing (larger Display). I only wish the 2 features in the plus were in this and it would have been perfect. Full 1080p display and the optical Image Stabilization. The Plus is nice but its practically a tablet and really should have been able to have those features in both. Otherwise very happy with the upgrade.
