I have not been a fan of all those controller buttons since the Nintendo 64 came out, but I can actually use this controller. It is very comfortable, has well-marked buttons that are easy to reach, excellent features like the PS button and USB port, holds a charge for a very long time, and has great "shock" effects. The latter are just enough to tell you something is going on but not so much that it is annoying. I like the thumb sticks, too.
What's great about it: Great design, features, and battery life
What's not so great: Nothing
I would recommend this to a friend!

is buying a ps3 worth it if it will only be in standard definition?

my tv doesnt have an hdmi cable opening so would it still be worth it?
Yes. I have a 36 inch tube TV and component cables, and it looks great. Plays regular DVDs very well. And once you decide/need to upgrade your TV, you will already have a blu-ray player that is wireless-capable and can stream movies and media over the Internet.

PS3 Encryption upgrade

What is the best way for me to upgrade my PS3 with the upgraded software/encryption data so I can watch the newer Blu Ray DVD's
Use the System Update menu option to get the latest firmware/software for the system. Also, Sony just amnnounced that an update would be provided soon that allows you to play 3-D the new movies.
