Street Fighter 4 is by far the coolest installment in the fabled fighting series thus far! What I noticed immediately was the stylized 3D graphics that fused the classic Street Fighter II feel with modern 3D flourishes. It's not the most realistic look in the world, but it's certainly dazzling to the eye.
In terms of the gameplay, the movement is still in 2D, but the camera goes in 3D when one performs an Ultra Combo. The Ultra Combo is an extremely intuitive system. While the Super combo meter is based on how many damaging hits you land on your opponent, the Ultra Combos are determined by a Revenge meter that increases as you take damage. Once that meter gets to a certain point, just perform the input for the Ultra Combo (similar to the Super move but with all three punch or kick buttons) and deliver some serious damage. Two other additions are the focus attack (triggered by simultaneously pressing the Medium Punch and Medium Kick buttons) and the EX move (a special move done with three punch or kick buttons).
Just like with any fighting sequel, there are some new characters. There's the amnesiac Abel, who uses mixed martial arts. Crimson Viper (C.Viper for short) is a sexy female agent who wears a technologically-enhanced suit with she can deliver shocks or flaming kicks. There is also El Fuerte, a lucha libre wrestler, and Rufus, an obese fighter who has a very odd style to say the least. Lastly, there is a new final boss: Seth. Seth is by far the most challenging boss ever introduced in this series. He basically looks like Gill and Urien from Street Fighter 3. He has a plethora of moves from all the characters in the game, plus he can teleport all over the place. Beware when he performs his Ultra Combo, though. He sucks you into the yin yang ball in his stomach, spins you around in there and spits you back out. (Sounds weird, but it's cooler to witness.)
The only weakness for me was the soundtrack. The theme song during the opening sequence sounds like Chris Brown or some boy band is singing it. Not cool for those of us who like rock and roll. Plus, there are so many synth lines in the music that one could literally get sonically scarred for life (if you know what I mean). Nevertheless, the quintessential fighter rages on to new heights and then some.
What's great about it: The stunning stylized graphics, the ultra combos, the new characters (including the Final Boss)
What's not so great: The soundtrack is a little cheesy
"Power is Everything." This is the law of Tekken. All seek it. All are consumed by it. In the end, all bow to its immutable logic. Each warrior has a unique motivation for entering the 6th King of the Iron Fist Tournament: Respect. Vengeance. Honor. Righteousness. Family.

Tekken is by far my favorite fighting game series of all time, and Tekken 6 really takes the cake.
All the big favorites are there, such as Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and of course the Mishima family. There are also some interesting new characters as well. For example, you have Lars Andersson, who's fighting style is very punch-oriented yet very powerful. For the unconventional, there is Zafina, who utilizing an extremely awkward fighting style that's supposed to be pretty ancient. For the comedically inclined, there is Bob, a karate master who tries to win the tournament with an obese physique. Finally, there is Azazel, the final boss. He is a cross between Ogre from Tekken 3 and the Egyptian god Anubis. In total, there are 42 characters in this game!
The gameplay is still in its classic form but with a few changes. First of all, there is a Rage system that kicks in when you or your opponent is low on health. The health bar starts to flicker red, and that character can then cause extra damage. Also, when a character is knocked to the ground he or she cannot tech roll. This is obviously bad for the person getting knocked down but good for those who can do long chains of combos. Thirdly, there are several stages where one can knock a character onto another tier or through a wall.
Obviously, this game has not been released as of today, 2/2/09. However, I am really looking forward to when it comes out. This installment has obviously been modified yet it still retains the attitude and complexity of the series itself.

This is truly one of the best Mortal Kombat games ever. The classic characters like Scorpion, Liu Kang, and Sub-Zero look as realistic as ever. I really like the special moves for each character, especially the Pro Moves, which link special moves together for extra damage. Obviously, I am a much bigger fan of the MK characters because A) I am more used to them and B) you can do combos with them more easily. Nevertheless, the DC characters have very nice styles as well that really bring out each one's persona.
I also like the story modes. You fight on either the DC or the MK side, but you actually go through several characters throughout the story. Therefore, it really challenges you to learn the moves of all the characters.
There was only one thing I found disappointing. If you are looking for more blood, think again. Since the game is rated T, the violence has been tapered down a bit. I also heard that the DC people did not want their characters to have fatalities. Some of them do, and others have "Heroic Brutalities". Go figure.
Overall, this game is extremely fun and brings fresh energy into the MK series. The graphics are spectacular and the gameplay is simple, yet sweet. Now if only they put the folks at Midway put MK Armageddon on the PS3...
Unfortunately, you can only play PS2 games on a PS3 if you own a certain model. There is a chart on the official Playstation website that shows which models can take PS2 games.
