I wanted a single remote for a system that included DirecTV, Samsung LED/LCD TV, Bose Theater, Oppo BlueRay DVD player, Sony DVD recorder, and an old Panasonic VCR - the maximum number of devices that the 700 can control.
Setup was quite easy, but idiosyncrasies with the video switching on the Bose made switching modes problematic and I had to keep reaching for one remote, or the other - goal of getting rid of the other remotes failed.
Replaced with the 1100 model that has more control over delays (power on, power off, etc.) and that seemed to solve the problem, but at much higher cost. As it is only software, why couldn't the 1100 programatic features be part of the 700 for those who prefer the single hand style of remote?
What's great about it: Very easy to program with Logitech's PC-based software
What's not so great: Cannot control start-up options, delays (only one for 700, three for 1100)
