Only Rent this game

This game has decent graphics, cutscenes are a nice touch and not too bad of sound. My main issue is the mechanics of the game itself as it is like playing a video game written five years ago. There is no excuse for making a game with the lousy mechanics this game has.
The problems are as follows,
Not being able to see in front of you, at least 50% of the time you are blinded. How about an area that requires me to use a hook to snag a bridge span to pull across. At least once I could not face the direction I needed to be, in fact I was facing 180 degrees away from my anchor the hook was to snag.
I was fighting giants and the other AL just stood there and did nothing. The map is almost worthless and many times I ended back where I started. The save system is bad as you do not end back up at the last checkpoint but at the start instead and if there are major fights those boss's are no longer an issue, however all the guards are again.
If you like these types of games give it a try, however for me I have a hard time playing a game that requires me most of the time to not be able to see in front of me. You go into an alcove and lose sight of your player and anything that in there you cannot see it. The puzzles seemed like they are at every turn and like killing the guards in the towers you go through that six times, no reason in this day and age to publish a game that has these problems.
What's great about it: Cutscenes
What's not so great: Mechanics
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and are dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream. In a city that worships money and status, life is heaven for those who prosper and a living nightmare for those who don't. Developed by the superstar designers at Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto IV continues the exciting legacy of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Best GTA story

Story - The Story in GTA IV is a bit deeper than most of the other GTA games that have appeared on home consoles over the past few years. Rockstar decided to put more of an emphasis on the main character's feelings and overall depth of the story. This results in a more enjoyable experience and more of an attachment to the characters than in previous titles like GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. The story follows the journey of Niko Bellic, an immigrant from Eastern Europe who has come to Liberty City to make a fresh start and find some answers. Niko quickly becomes forced into a gun for hire role in order to make ends meet and keep his cousin Roman out of trouble with Russian gangsters, requiring you to do the usual kill him/her, go steal this missions that are essential to every GTA experience. As always there are plenty of twists and turns in the story to keep you intrigued and coming back for more and the game certainly isn't lacking interesting characters to keep the story going. All in all the story is one that is unrivaled in the GTA series, and while it won't stand up to the more story driven games on the market as anything special in this department it certainly does well in it's own rights.
What's great about it: The story
What's not so great: Too short
I would recommend this to a friend!
