umm...this is a "sequel"????

OK, OK, OK, everyone that came from under their rock early 2009 couldn't wait to get MW2, and instantly rushed to pick it up at their local Best Buy, go back under their rock, and play it. Yes, I get it. You were VERY excited, and wanted something that was more amazing than the prequel. But did you get that?
Well......if ya ask me...NO, you didnt'!!!!
"ZOMG! He said it's a bad game! FLAME HIM!!" Yea, slow down for a bit. Use some intellect when you read this, k?
Well......I'll be nice. The good thing about this game, minus the nice weapon sounds and the actually enjoyable SpecOps, is the "OMG!!" moments in the campaign. MW had the sniper level, and walking around before dying thanks to a nuke going off.
But what's in MW2?
Well, how about a snowmobile level, ice climbing (don't look down), killing innocent Russian people in the THIRD LEVEL (yep...No Russian..YouTube it), sneaking around bases with surpressed weapons, and throwing a knife at the end of the game. Yes....OMG moments, and LOTS of them.
What's the bad, though?
Well....the campaign is short....VERY short.....UNBELIEVABLY short. Four hours??? ON NORMAL?!!!! WHAAAT?!!! MW1 took at least 8 on Normal! And the sequel is shorter?!!! Yea, no...not likin' that.
Also, could they make it any harder to follow the story? Bouncing from Ramirez to Roach to Ramirez to MacTavish (yes, he's in the game).......I lost track of what was actually going on after "No Russian"....third level...that's the last time I remember the story being clarified EVER in this game.....and with a four-hour campaign....should I be surprised?
I also said the online wasn't so great.....well...if you played the game BEFORE the many, many patches, you already know why.
Maybe it's because I REALLY liked MW1 due to it actually took SKILL to dominate in that game, but...wow...why, Infinity Ward? Why?????
Why would you let people run around with a grenade launcher, Thumper (which launches explosive rounds....just like another weapon...hmmm), and Scavenger so I can keep picking up launcher rounds? This game wasn't meant for veteran players of MW1 like myself. It was meant for novice players to hop in and get easy kills without using much brain power.
Also, some of the killstreaks are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpowered. Think about it......Chopper Gunner comes in....flies above you...you die. You spawn, you die again. Yea, let's change "Hit X to respawn" to "Hit X to die and get your butt spawn camped by a Chopper Gunner", which fires a flare before it can be shot down. So, if you're lucky enough to have a horrible gunner that just can't see you, or you have Cold-Blooded (prevents you from showing up as a red square), you can shoot two Stingers at it and take it down. Ehh......it can happen.
But let's talk about that AC130. Get 11 kills in a row, and you get to call in this baby (if you pick it as a killstreak). So, what happens with this thing? Oh...nothing......except it rains (they won't let me type it) on Earth with explosive shells firing at you, and shooting four flares before FINALLY being shot down....unless you have a team that's willing to co-ordinate attacks (one person fires a Stinger, flare...another fires, AC130 can't shoot flares in time...BOOM!)....just run....and hide.....for a good minute.
Don't even get me started on the glitchers before the patches. I played a few hours on Saturday.....nine games. Of those nine, half had people doing the care package glitch, and the rest were modded rooms where you basically run at twice the speed....yea, that's a fun way to play a game! Let's glitch and cheat like we're playing Halo 2 back in its prime days!! :D Good idea (.....insert explicit word here). Before that, it was rooms that had infinite ammo....yea, imagine an automatic grenade launcher...with infinite ammo...FOR EVERYONE.....fun? Yes. Annoying after a while? Yes.
Yet ANOTHER problem with online....LAAAAAAAAG. No, it's not my connection. 6MB wouldn't lag so much. But I can't count how many times I fired four rounds into someone that tried to knife me, only having the last two register, letting that guy knife me. OR, shooting an automatic gun...one, two, three, four, five, six....guess which ones registered? Yep, four, five and six....the last rounds register....what happened to the first three?!! Don't you people know you can't destroy matter?!!!
If you're like me, you'll get beyond annoyed with people running around stabbing you, or sniping you with a shotgun....actually, lemme talk about that as well.
How far do you think you should be able to hit someone with a shotgun? Not that far, right? Don't you think that.....hmm, a few feet....is effective, but after that, it's not worth anything?
Yea, tell that to the SPAS-12, or the Model 1887 before it got patched. I'm on the catwalk on Sub Base...that's two full levels up...I kill a guy in two shots that's below me.......yep...the range with shotties is unbelievable.
And another pet-peeve. How is a .50cal sniper rifle going to actually HIT a guy, and he doesn't die?! Come on!!! It's a 50....50!!!!!! That's death waiting to happen! But chest? Walks. Neck? Ehh, if he's lucky, walks....but the Intervention, magically, they're not so lucky....uh-huh. Great job, guys.
Maybe I'm being WAAAAY too picky, but coming from a game that actually was close to being a well-balanced game (MW1) to one that's completely broken (the FUBAR mistake they called MW2), it's obvious to see that MW2 was nothing but a cash cow, only to abuse the name instead of actually improving from MW1. It was made to be for those novice players/little kids that want the best early and go "OMG! Grenade Launcher! And I can still have perks! Cool!" and go use that instead of learning how to aim a gun, fire rounds (assuming all of them register!), and getting a kill.
*sigh*.....veterans......don't buy this game, 'less you're more patient than I am......and I'm not a patient person to begin with........
P.S. I re-read this five times to delete the profanity from the review....that's how frustrating this game is.....six, now.
What's great about it: Lots of "OMG!!" moments, nice weapons, SpecOps are fun
What's not so great: online, short campaign
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

aka "Real Triggers"
on June 23, 2009

People are saying that it doesn't cost that much to make and yet they're charging $5. Well, being so they also have other expenses, such as salary, utilities, manufacturing, etc, they have to get the rest from somewhere......and really, why are you complaining about $5? Sure, we're in a recession, but I don't know of anyone that can't come up with $5. You probably already paid $400 for a PS3, what's another $5 for a HUGE improvement such as these?
Also known as "Real Triggers", this little attachment snaps right onto the 2 "triggers" on the back of your Dualshock 3 (or Sixaxis if anyone's still using that thing). It's painless to snap them on, although I'm not quite sure if you can, if ever, take them off.......but that doesn't matter. It's not like you'd miss the old triggers once you put these on.
My only complaint is they kinda hurt my right index finger. I guess it's due to how hard I press down on them, but after long uses, it began to hurt....more of a "hmm, that doesn't feel too great", than an "OOOOW!! That really hurts!"
If you were thinking of buying these.....why are you sitting there thinking? Why are you even reading this review? They prevent random skips in movies/videos, and they're a HUGE improvement, especially for those that play alot of racers and shooters (aka, people like me). Stop reading this review....stop reading all the others. Go buy them....now...seriously. You won't regret it.
What's great about it: FINALLY! GOOD triggers :D
What's not so great: sometimes my right index finger hurts
I would recommend this to a friend!

Midnight Club....most people don't know the game's actually named after the legendary illegal street racing club (Mid Night Club) that was dismantled after one of the members got into an accident that killed someone. Fortunately in this game, if you hit a car going 200mph, you won't be facing murder charges.
However, it's kinda hard to realize if you're going fast enough. 100mph looks like 40mph, and even when hitting the nitrous, it seems as if your car's saying, "uhhh, I'm going, I'm going!!!" instead of "ZOOOOM!!!!" like the previous Need For Speed games. At least NFS lets you KNOW you were going 100mph....this game's screen doesn't start shaking 'til you hit 200mph....which you can't hit unless you either have an exotic car such as the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, or a fully tuned class 3 car....and upgrades aren't cheap. It'll take a while before you finally hit the point where you'll be getting every upgrade for every car, but once you DO reach that point, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is free. Cars, kits, performance mods, EVERYTHING.
The game, while fun, gets hard quickly. Let's say you're in the class 3 bike and you set it to Hardest. I think it's a bit TOO unfair to be paired up with the Kawasaki Ninja and a fully tuned Audi R8, both obviously faster than your little class 3 bike. I wasn't able to beat one of the tournaments until I got lucky and won a Murcielago, then it was easier (but not much) to win the others. Once you get the Kawasaki Ninja fully tuned, the only way to get a challenge IS to play on Hardest, since the bike literally smokes EVERYTHING. It can hit hard corners at 100mph. Try that in an exotic.
This game DOES shine in customization, even though personally, the scene's trash in my opinion. I can't stand to see a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with Lamborghini doors, or a Nissan 240SX with 20 inch rims on it. Typical ricer upgrades, but if you MUST have them.....hey, your money. Even though I wish they had useful upgrades like putting actual race kits in the game instead of some ugly widebody kits. But I do like being able to put Volk GT-C rims on a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, and paint the entire thing black. I also appreciate the option to modify the interior, from neon, to steering wheels, and even the stitching.
Overall, if you just want a good racing game, this is your bet. If you want something that can be insanely hard, this is it. However, I MUST mention that whenever I got tossed off my bike, I'd spawn in ridiculous places. One time, I got thrown off my bike so high, EVERYONE finished before my character even hit the ground to respawn, so I had to restart the race. Also, once I hit a car, got tossed off, and spawned right in front of the same car I had just hit....spinning my wheels, and the car not moving an inch.......and there goes my first place position.......
If you can deal with those setbacks, buy the game.....it's really it until either a better NFS comes out, or Gran Turismo 5 FINALLY decides to come out.
What's great about it: cars featured in the game, great soundtrack, always something to do, no loading screens
What's not so great: the speed (more in review), not enough cars, gets TOO hard too quickly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

War....perfected.

"They will know......Helghan belongs to the Helghast." Play the game on Elite and you'll see what Visari meant by that.
At the very beginning, Killzone 2 shows you an introduction explaining both sides of the war. The Helghast defending their home land, and the ISA invading them to finish what was started on Vekta (the first Killzone). It shows your main character preparing to leave Vekta before he fights the battle on Helghan.....on the back cover, it says "In and out in a month, they said. Morale at an all-time low.....they couldn't be more wrong"....
Even though games sometimes can't capture ones attention just by what's on the back, it's almost like they WANT you to see how wrong they really were. At the very beginning, your craft makes a crash landing on a beach, already fighting for your life, AND THE GAME JUST STARTED! Depending on your difficulty setting (if it's your first time, I HIGHLY recommend either Recruit (easy) or Trooper (a bit above easy) ). Later on in the game, you're traveling all over Helghast, in what seems to be an endless chase for Radec (Visari's commander) and Visari himself (Emperor of Helghan). Even though I have shared some of the game's story line, don't think I'm going to spoil it for you.
When you first try to look with the right analog stick (default settings), you WILL notice a delay. It's not a bad disc and it's not your controller. They built that into the game to give the feeling of the gun being heavy. It actually works pretty well, and if you're like me, you'll get used to it quickly in the campaign. However, I still do wish they didn't put a delay on EVERYTHING. I'd hit Square twice just to reload, and sometimes, hitting X once won't allow the character to jump, but that's only online, and the room most likely was laggy.
Where the game REALLY shines is its online feature. From Bodycount (team deathmatch), Assassination (killing a certain player on the other team before time runs out), Search & Retrieve (finding a speaker and returning it to a destination...kind of like Capture the Flag), Capture and Hold (taking territory and holding it from your enemy for a certain amount of time), and Search & Destroy (planting bombs at a specific target and waiting for them to blow up), there's ALOT to do in this game.
Ribbons such as Head Fetish (getting 10 headshots in a game) keeps the game rolling. Getting eight ribbons of the same kind, such as eight Head Fetish ribbons, gives you a medal, in which you unlock special items/abilities for achieving them. Being a medic and reviving people 5 times in a match, 8 different times, gives you the ability to throw down health packs that can heal you, your teammate, or even an enemy if they're lucky enough to find one. If you heal someone 5 times in a match, 8 different times, you can use that ability with any other badge. For example, say you're a Sabetour (badge in which you're disguised as an enemy to fool your enemies), and instead of C4 mines, you want to have the ability to heal yourself. If you get the C4 medal AND the one for the health packs, you can mix and match them.
It seems complicated, but it's MUCH easier in the game. Ranking up in the game online allows you to gain different badges. You can be a medic, an engineer (build turrents), Tactician (throw spawn grenades so teammates can spawn in other places), or a Scout once you reach the highest rank (Scout being the sniper). Even once you're finished with that, there's always something else to do.
If you're good enough, the game even rewards you with the Special Honor ribbon, for being either the top 10, 6, 3, or 1% of players for that week (the highest I've ever gotten was 3%).
There's just so much good with this game, I could write a research paper about them.
But now about the "bad". Depending on who's hosting, the games can be VERY laggy. Two shots to kill someone....with a headshot...really??? Me shooting people five times, only to die with two bullets.....yeeeaaaa. Little things like those can make it unfun at a point, but take some time and get the aiming down, it won't matter. You'll be racking up dead bodies in no time.
Overall, great game, great experience, boss fights keep the "old school" feel with a "new school" twist....Just buy the game. This is one FPS that you can't miss.
What's great about it: action, sound, graphics, online play (32 people! Take that, Halo!)
What's not so great: the delay in aiming takes some time to get used to, characters in cutscenes could show more emotion, in my opinion
I would recommend this to a friend!

They were "trying" to improve their rep....

If you're looking at this page, you probably know that Madcatz didn't make many of these controllers, and there are even fewer Tournament Edition sticks (which sell for an outrageous $200+ on eBay...I saw one once at $1000!!!). You also know that the going price on these on eBay are also at most double, or even quadruple (at least for the Akuma version) of the MSRP. So why would you even spend the $40 for it in your regular stores?
You don't want to get ripped off, right? Well, in that case, once again, stay away from Madcatz. After years and years and YEARS of trying...just trying, to find ONE good product from them (their first Xbox controller actually worked pretty well), nothing has worked, and this was only a new addition to the list.
I'll start off with the good, first. There are six buttons, so you don't have to frustrate yourself wondering which of the shoulder buttons did what. The most important ones, L, M, and H punck/kick, are right there in front of you (based on Street Fighter IV controls). The D-pad was VERY responsive. I actually DO miss that when trying to play with a DS3. Shoryukens and Hadokens never worked better on that D-pad (coming from a person that hasn't used an arcade stick since the late 90's with the release of Tekken 3.....and I'm 17, now).
The bad.....at the very beginning, maybe it's because I had bad batteries, but the thing couldn't keep a charge to save my life. I can't count how many times I ended up losing a match only because I lost a charge....over and over again.
Now when I FINALLY get brand new batteries.....it dies. Won't keep a charge at all. BRAND NEW BATTERIES...and the controller's telling me it's dead....why, Madcatz....why???
Overall, I've heard the Tournament Edition ($150 MSRP), is actually worth the money you'd pay for it, but keep in mind, even the fightpad is VERY limited, and there were only 3,000 TE's to fill 10,000 pre-orders. If you can get lucky and find one at that price, or have $200+ to burn on an arcade stick, I highly recommend you to do that than to try to take the cheap option with this fightpad....you REALLY do get what you pay for with this product.
What's great about it: Better than the DS3, six buttons on the face
What's not so great: the quality

Should i buy the PS3 insurence?

I recently bought a psp and it stopped reading the disks(luckily i had insurence), after this happened i'm thinking wetheri should pay insurence for the ps3... Is it common for it to fail?
the failure rate isn't high at all, and you do get a year warranty automatically with a PS3 provided that you KEEP YOUR RECEIPT....but if you plan to keep it beyond a year, I highly recommend you get insurance for it....which mostly likely is an extended warranty.

Tv and PS3 compatibility

I have a 26" Olevia TV, sure its not the best, but it does have an HDMI port and channel. I previously tried to get my Xbox 360 on HDMI but I needed the adapter and everything else and it didn't work. I am currently looking into buying a PS3, but I fear that I'll have the same issue. I really want a blu-ray player without having to buy a new TV and I was wondering if anyone out there knew if my TV needs to be 1080p to run BluRay and HDMI and if I'll need a digital output cable for my audio.
With a TV that size, 1080p won't make a difference at all. Your best bet is sticking with 720p, in which you can get a simple component cable for it, since HDMI also won't make a difference. But if you MUST have HDMI, you will NOT need to buy an adapter. There's already an HDMI port on the back of the PS3.

How much is a xbox 360 with only 20gb's ?

The original one.
$300, if I'm not mistaken, however, if you can shell out $300, I recommend waiting until you're able to spare 100 more for the Elite version.
I don't recommend the console altogether, but saving up for an Elite is the smarter option.
