I only waited for the price drops..

I had high-high expectations for this beast. And the week before Thanksgiving, it finally dropped to 2799.99 and at that point, I could no longer wait. For some reason, I really wanted 3D, so that limited me to the C6 or the E6, but the E6 was simply out of my price range. I also, have been opposed to the curved screens. This is obviously curved, but it's pretty subtle and I don't mind it. Had I gone for the B6, I would have gotten another HDMI (4), which I preferred, but lost 3D.
For the review of just the TV itself, it is as expected--spectacular. I came from a 1080p 55" LED first-gen Samsung. Yes, the blacks are just that--black. Yes, the TV has glare due to all the light in my room, but after the LED, this OLED on colored backgrounds nearly absorbs all that reflection and I barely notice it.
The colors are bright and vibrant. I have watched a few HD NBA games, 4K movies and played 4K video games and the tv presented them well.
I only made a few adjustments to the TV settings after I turned it on the first time. I simply removed any edge or sharpness settings, as per what was suggested on many forums.
The remote is a nice change too. A simple shake, the cursor pops up and is much like a Wii controller. It makes typing in Netflix, ETC, faster. I customized my input names and pictures, to make transition between devices easier for my wife. I haven't connected the TV wired internet YET, but Netflix loads noticeably faster than on my Sony Blu-ray player that has a direct connection. The interface is different, as it is part of the TV's OS.
Overall, I am so happy with my purchase. I have no regrets.

One of the best war movies ever!

After just seeing the film opening day in theaters I am already anxious to get the BluRay DVD. The movie was gut wrenching and excellent. After more than 50 years of being a WWII Historian with emphasis on Armor, someone has finally made "The Tank Movie" of all time. Also, the film goes down in history for having the first REAL German Tiger 1 ever seen live in film history. The Tiger 131 can be seen all over YouTube at the Bovington Tank Museums Tank Fest. Movie theaters do play the sound painfully loud and that only made the experience more gut wrenching. To have the new recliner seats in theaters today literally vibrating from the concussions certainly didn't help. I think what makes it worse for an Armor buff and WWII enthusiast is knowing the details and weapons capabilities of that period. Just hearing the word Panzerfaust makes one cringe. They certainly portrayed the statistics right in needing 4 - 5 Shermans to overwhelm one Tiger. I also have a new found respect for Shermans as I never thought they could endure so much. This film has now surpassed Saving Pvt Ryan as the most fierce WWII film I have seen to date. I've read that the film makers consulted with many British WWII Tankers while making this film. I can see and appreciate the authenticity their life's memories have contributed to the details of the film. I rarely go to the theaters ever anymore, but this film I knew I would have to see opening day!!

300 in the navy
on August 11, 2016

I went into this movie feeling the effects in 300 were a little over the top and while they didn't ruin the movie for me, I really wanted them to tone this down in Rise of an Empire.
Thankfully, they did!
This movie has a semi parallel timeline to the original and but, it is what the Athens Navy was doing during the same time frame.
The hero in this film is Themistocles and he is more the clever tactician who can fight whereas Leonidas was more the Gladiator whose discipline made him a king of Sparta. Think of this more like Kirk vs Picard where both were great in their own way.
This movie also gives more of the origin of Xerxes and Artemisia as we learn their backstory and why their vengeance is aimed at Greece.
Overall, I really liked the story and it felt like a much more complete package than the original. I liked the strategic design to the fight scenes and this is honestly the first of these Greco-Roman Empire movies this year that I've really appreciated.

Good movie with good cgi

This is one of 2014's best movies so far. The story is original and creative, bringing more potential to characters from the first film. Every ape in the movie looks astoundingly real, with no flaws. Acting is solid, but some characters seem to be a bit flat. The music is not used throughout the movie as much as others, but brings great aid to some very emotional scenes. I enjoyed the movie thoroughly from start to end, and there weren't any painfully slow or dull moments. As for the rating, this movie is very violent, and contains one f bomb. If you liked the first film, you'll probably enjoy this one even more. Not half bad!

The first season of Hannibal follows FBI Agent Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) as he becomes increasingly immersed in his efforts to find a brutal serial killer. When Special Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) pairs him with a highly skilled psychiatrist - who, unbeknownst to them, is the perpetrator himself, notorious serial killer Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) - Will questions his own sanity as his cannibalistic partner subjects him to a series of mind games.

Mads is solid!

This is one of the best shows on TV. Great cast & writing. The special effects are the best there is. This is not a series for children. This is NOT a family show. It is for adults period. I have heard lame parents complain that the series is not family friendly... DUH!!!! It is Hannibal! It is not a show about rainbows and unicorns.
This is strictly adult TV.
Intelligent, well developed stories and characters. It is a series that knows what it is and exceeds audience members expectations. If you like shiny vampire TV this also may not be for you, because the characters aren't bed hopping blood suckers. Hannibal's characters are actually interesting and they actually have depth.

A movie that only has face value
on August 11, 2016

Let me start off by saying I enjoyed Taken 3 much more than Taken 2. But it suffers from the same problem that all three of the movies have. While action movies are not really intended to be held up to close scrutiny and deep thought, this one stretches and snaps the limits of credibility. Brian Mills is a walking Dooms Day Machine. In this movie, he leaves a trail of wrecked cars, destroyed buildings, shot up bodies (living and dead), and angry cops (though he is very careful not to shoot any cops). As long as this was happening overseas, it was easier to rationalize. But happening in LA it doesn't work as well. Without revealing the resolution, at the end of the movie he and the detective shake hands and he goes his merry way. While he may not have committed the murder (no spoiler, it is in the ads) he still broke 1000 other laws in the process. The movie is great for into the eyes, pass through the brain entertainment, but don't retain any of the information or it all falls apart.

Great continuation of the series

Best Furious to date - we watched this opening night, and have watched every one. This is the best one so far - great car scenes, death defying stunts, over the top villains and hot girls/cars/guys - what's not to love? This is a great guy movie - it is also a great girls night out movie, and a great date movie - it truly has something for everyone.
This has everything you expect from the Furious franchise, but an even bigger focus on family. The funny thing is, after watching this, it made me think a lot of the Disney animated movie Lilo & Stitch :).
I loved the addition of Kurt Russell, as well as Jason Statham, who plays pretty much the same character he always plays, just on the villain side this time.
Amazing what they did with this movie from a continuity and filming perspective given the timing of the situation with Paul Walker, all I can say is wow, and there has to be some sort of award for this movie this year. The tribute at the end was extremely moving, and if you are a Paul Walker fan, you might find yourself welling up just a bit (or more). Made me think a bit about my friends as well.
So go have a great time and don't miss this one! If you haven't seen the others in the franchise, make sure to see what you've missed - it helps make the story that much more interesting. But regardless, it is a ride!

Crass and crazy movie!

I was impressed with the creators for taking an R-rated movie and infusing it within a PG genre. The body swap concept has been beaten to death over the past 25 years, but never has there been one so crass and non kid-friendly. There's nudity, swearing, and poo-in-the-face shots. Things you'd never expect. AWESOME! It's about time! As for the humor, it wasn't all frat boy humor. Most of it was smart and witty. The ending was sappy and typical, but I'm glad I took a chance on this one.

Raunchy Raunchy fun!
on August 11, 2016

Even if only half of the humorous bits of ROLE MODELS succeed for you, you will consider this is a very funny movie!
The premise is that, to avoid jail time, Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott (as Danny and Wheeler) perform community service as big brothers to a pair of troubled boys: a geeky adolescent (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and a garbage-mouthed youth (Bobb'e J. Thompson). The pay-off scene is the wonderfully hilarious medieval role-playing game in which these four wear costumes deliberately like those of the band Kiss.
Jane Lynch is outstanding as the well-meaning but drug-damaged and very addled director of the organization pairing the children with their "bigs." By the end of the film almost all of the characters have grown and changed for the better (in ways that may not be believable but which are enjoyable nonetheless).
Chiefly because of the abundance of raunchy language, most parents would not want their small children to view this very funny film with them. (By the way, both the "theatrical" version and the "unrated" one are included on the DVD disk; both versions contain female nudity, and the chief difference is that the unrated version has about twice as much, plus a short instance of male nudity.)
Watch the outtakes too for more dumb fun!

This is an excellent docudrama of reporter Gary We

This is an excellent docudrama of reporter Gary Webb (Jeremy Renner) of the San Jose Mercury News who cracked the CIA drug smuggling scandal. The first half of the film concerns his discovery of the story, traveling and talking to individuals. After the story breaks, the champagne flows, and the US is upset. It is time for CIA damage control. It seems Mr. Webb used criminals and drug dealers as a source in a story about criminals and drug dealers so he has no reliable sources. He also is not a saint and as his sources recant their story, his life spirals downward as the messenger becomes the story.
