Amazing FPS

Resistance 2 is the sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man. You continue your journey as Nathan Hale, and you fight the Chimera once again as they invade the United States. It's on a much bigger scale and, unlike the first one, you really feel like you're in an epic war.
The campaign is just as long as that of the first game. But it follows Hale directly, and doesn't have anybody narrating the events. This is good and bad. It makes the game feel more movie-like, but the story is a bit harder to understand this way. The Chimera are just as smart as ever, and they bring back favorites like the Bullseye and Auger, while introducing new weapons like a magnum that fires bullets that you can detonate, and a Chimeran sniper rifle that fires 3 rounds at once. The story answers some questions left in the first game, and also opens more questions.
The multiplayer is amazing. You can be in battles of up to 60 players. But it doesn't feel too chaotic. I haven't experienced lag, even with 60 people, and you don't feel like you can die too easily like in Call of Duty games. There are numerous modes, and you can customize your soldier. This is definitely one of the best online games to date.
Now to talk about some of the letdowns of this game. The graphics are fairly detailed and colorful, although humans only look average. And you can see some visual cutbacks they had to make. When in-game, people's lips don't match their words perfectly, and when they're pressing buttons on a switch, you can see they're not touching it really if you look. But the cutscenes still look great, and these cutbacks are understandable considering how much the game does. Also, the gore-factor has been upped greatly. Some enemies explode in blood, and when you destroy a Titan (the large, brown monsters from the first one), it will rain guts when it explodes. And the game is fairly disgusting, and there are quite a bit of pop-ups. But the game is definitely worth it, and these shouldn't affect your decision to buy the game, just keep them in mind so you don't be too surprised.
Basically, this is perheps the best shooter on the PS3, and a must-have for PS3 owners. But I do reccomend playing the first Resistance first to understand the story completely. And the first game is a heck of a lot of fun
What's great about it: Takes what was great about the first Resistance and expands upon them
What's not so great: Some things have been taken out
I would recommend this to a friend!

Learn more about Resistance: Fall of Man. (Flash demo) For decades, populations across Europe and Asia have felt the fury of Chimera: a rapidly mutating parasite that infects other forms of life, rendering its victims into new Chimera. The unstoppable spread of this deadly disease has made its way to the shores of England in Fall of Man. It's now 1951, and while playing the part of U.S. Army Ranger Nathan Hale, you must fight alongside a group of British resistance soldiers in a last-ditch effort to free England and the rest of the world from the stranglehold of this ruinous plague.Exotic weapons and vehicles team with proprietary physics to create a unique human and Chimeran arsenal. While on your mission, you'll encounter lifelike characters and creatures who display sophisticated behaviors and interactions in complex environments for an immersive experience. You'll be subjected to the chaos of large, crowded battlefields in close combat within infested military command centers and decimated urban landscapes based on actual locations in Great Britain.

Must-Have

Resistance is one of the 2 games that was launched with the PS3. Therefore, it's the oldest PS3 game ever, and yet it still amazes me.
The storyline is a dark outlook: In an alternate 1950's where World War 2 never happened, the Chimera, aliens, have emerged from Russia and spread out to take over all of Asia, and continental Europe. Great Britain, being an island, was thought to be safe: they were wrong. The Chimera have taken over it. You, as Nathan Hale, are part of an American force sent to liberate Britain. This is where the game begins.
The two things that makes this game better than most FPS are the AI and the weapons. The AI are smart. Unlike in most games where enemies just stay in one place or repeat the same movement patternt, the Chimera actually take cover, hide, and work together to overhwhelm you. And you allies are smart too. They behave like real soldiers would in combat, but when you have to move with them, they sometimes behve oddly. The weapons are very nice. Each weapon is unique and unseen in other games (one of Insomniac Games' specalties, weapon design) The main starting weapon is basic, an assault rifle with built in grenade launcher. But as you advance, you find much different weapons. The Bullseye, the main weapon Chimeran soldiers use, has a high rate of fire and is quite powerful. Also, it can shoot special "tags". If a tag hits an enemy, all normal bullets will home in on it until the enemy is killed or after the tag wears off. There is also a gun that can shoot through walls and create shields in front of you.
The graphics aren't perfect, but they're very good, especially considering that it's very old for a PS3 game.
This game also has a great multiplayer aspect. There is a co-op campaign, where you play the exact same campaign you play in single-player, but with more enemies to make up for the extra friend you have to play. This campaign's progress is seperate from the single-player, so you can play the game with your friend without messing with your progress in the single-player campaign. There is also a 4 player splitscreen versus. ANd you can play online with a total of 40 people. However, since this game's sequel has been released, I doubt there will be many people online to play with.
The only bad things I can think of this game is what is typical in an M game, has blood and gore. However, it's not that bad. blood sometimes comes out when you shoot an enemy. And in the game you will encounter small, scorpian like creatures. When you shoot them, they die in a small explosion of blood, and you see all of their limbs lying around. But that''s really as bad as it gets.
What's great about it: Smart AI, Very Good Weapons, Interesting Story
What's not so great: A little bloody
I would recommend this to a friend!

Absolute must-buy

This is one of the best PS3 games of all time. The graphics are incredibly detailed, the storyline is pretty nice, and the gameplay is just plain fun. It looks and feels like an action movie. In fact, I hear that they are making it into a movie. The gameplay has the tomb raiding aspect of the tomb raider games, the cover system from gears of war, and has a little indiana jones feel into it. The game doesn't feel like it copies any of these games, the way it blends these 3 gameplay aspects is beautiful. Unlike in tomb raider where you have to be precise to make a jump, this game makes it quite easily, as long as you're not way off. I'm not familiar with how exactly the cover system in gears of war is, so I can't talk about that, other than it works well in Uncharted. And the indiana jones feel is because of how the traps you may encounter in the game are, very intense and fun to watch.
This game should be a greatest hit, I don't know why it isn't. Yes the game is short as I said before, but the game features trophy support and unlockables to modify gameplay, like have you automatically start with certain weapons, or to change the way your guy looks. And Nathan Drake (the guy you play in the game) is such a loveable character. If you still have doubts, you can rent the game, or download the demo from the playstation store. The demo has you play in one of the levels in the game. It's not the best level, but it has one of my favorite cutscenes, which made me love Nate so much.
What's great about it: Amazing Graphics, Good Storyline, Very Fun to Play
What's not so great: Only single-player, pretty short
I would recommend this to a friend!
