The best game and multimedia speakers ever made!
on December 17, 2015
Posted by: bluebottle

I've been using Klipsch ProMedia speakers for well over a decade now. I've had them all.
They've changed the cables and connections every now and again, added and dropped a 4.1 and 5.1 surround system option, and fiddled with some amp settings once every few years.
I've had every iteration of this product, and they have all been just as good as the first, even with the occasional wiring changes.
Now, you'll see plenty of other popular gaming speakers on the market, if that's what you're looking for. Some will even have received rave reviews from publications and websites you know and trust. Shockingly, you might not find these speakers on those sites... Why?
Well, I suppose people finally ran out of words to describe these things. That, and Klipsch isn't pandering to the media.
These were receiving those same rave reviews in 1999 when they were first released!
Sixteen years ago, before many of the people reading this were even born, when average computer owners still kept a DOS partition on their hard drive, these speakers were cleaning house in magazines the world over.
They've lasted longer than many of those magazines... Indeed, I still have my first set, and they still work fine. I use them in another room for house audio now.
They're just as good for movies and music. Indeed, many of the bands you enjoy today mastered their first self-produced albums on Klipsch ProMedia speakers, and these are what you'll still find on their desks.
In all cases, the speakers have always been the best on the market. I don't mean I just liked the things, either... I mean they were the BEST from a quantitative standpoint. Nobody has yet touched their territory, and only Corsair has come anywhere near it.
I'll list the single "con" now. It sounds like something that might be a bother, but it isn't. I assure you, you'll just ignore it when it happens.
For all the changes Klipsch has made over the years, they've kept the same volume control. It gets finicky over time around the 1/4 mark. Klipsch is more than happy to send you another when that happens, though, and I've always just adjusted my PC volume so I'm not using that first quarter.
Trust me, the speakers are worth that little issue.
Games, movies, music; everything will be powerful and clear. You don't need to spend hours with an equalizer to level them, as the speakers are very flat right out of the box. They've been manufacturing these things for so long that the drivers (the actual cones and tweeters) are essentially perfect.
I've seen them used as reference monitors in studios, and in home theater systems. I've personally used them for their primary purpose, as I've stated, for over a decade.
They aren't the most modern-looking speakers on the market, and they don't carry a fancy advertising campaign to go with them. What they bring to the table is sound.
Isn't that what you're after? Sound?
These may not be the most well-known speakers on the market, either, but at this price, there's no excuse to buy anything else. Unless you are going to hook up a stack of amps and tower speakers to your computer, this is the BEST YOU CAN GET.
Period.

Ignore The Bad Reviews. Fantastic Product
By Evertod123 from Boise, ID
So I want to start by saying this is simply an awesome headset hands down the best I have used thus far. I have used the G930s for the last 2 years and have really enjoyed them, after a pleasurable experience with them I could wait to see what Logitech produced next.
I read all of these reviews previous to buying the headset and noticed right off the bat that the people that were writing the reviews must not be able to read instructions. The part I am talking about is that you need to download the logitech gaming software to get these puppies fully operational (all clearly displayed in instructions), however unfortunately these horrible people are giving this new product a bad name because they refuse to be an intelligent being. Alright that is it for my rant...
Gaming: WOAH, some of these gun shots sound like they are right there behind me in my room, if you are looking for true immersion throw these guys over your ears and let them suck you in. I tested a few different games with the headset. First was Battlefield 4, countless times I hear the enemy trying to sneak up on me but I heard his footsteps first so I could get him first, truly a game changer. The G933s make you feel like you are on the battlefield, explosions go off with absolutely no distortion and I like to play them LOUD. Next game I played was ARK (a primitive survival game). I was pleased with the performance but did not notice to many differences from my previous G930 headset. Since this game doesnt really involve and crazy explosions or fast paced action the G933s seemed a bit overkill.
Music: So as I said before I like things to be REALLY loud and that goes for my music too. first thing I tested was the most bass intensive song I could find, bass boost it more, max volumes and play it. My ears were literally shaking within the muffs. The sound was so crystal clear and absolutely no distortion from heavy bass hits.
Compared the previous G930s to the G933s:
So in my opinion (20 year old hardcore gamer with a $5k rig) the G933s are worth the expensive price tag. But are going to be truly unnecessary for most people in every department except for bass distortion and connection it seems the new G933s are only slightly better. I would advise checking out the G930s first for most people. The connection is good most of the time with a drop here and there (maybe 1-2 in a 6 hour gaming session, remember 2 years old), as well as the bass not being able to work to the max because distortion will start scratching up the sound.
What this means to you:
Get this headset if:
- You have money to throw around
- Bass is important to you
- You are a major gamer
Get the G930 if:
- Need something cheaper that will be 80% as good as this product
- dont mind the occasional 3 second connection drop
- You dont need much bass
Both headsets are absolutely amazing. I hope I helped you make up your mind today and enjoy your new sound! Leave me a comment if you have any questions, I should answer within 24hrs.

The gaming software itself is a problem; and a terminal problem at that. That's about the last thing you want to install on a computer.

Enrich your music and movie experience with room-filling sound delivered by 10 Watts Peak/5 Watts RMS power. Adjust bass level with the tone control dial to customize your listening experience. Simple controls allow you to access power, volume, bass, headphone jack and auxiliary jack on the right speaker.

Does this come with all of the cords necessary to plug into my macbook?

As long as your Macbook has a common speaker output jack, these will work just fine. As it's a Macbook, it may use an odd connector. That's fine. Less than a dollar will get you an adapter to plug into the input connector on the audio cable if you have a problem.

If that sounds complicated, don't worry. It's not. Just think of it as a square peg and a round hole. All you're doing is adding a round bit on the end of the square peg so it will plug into the round hole.

It's not actually square. That's just an analogy.

Can the Subwoofer be connected to AV Receiver Subwoofer preamp out?

Not without an adapter, but as it's a powered system, it can function on many headphone out setups.

Many receivers offer some form of jack output that this can use with a small adapter, though. Check your manual to see what your receiver offers.

Not out of the box, but there are powered Bluetooth receivers that can control these or any other set of speakers on the market.

The install guide recommends a line out VS headphone jack-my computer doesn't have one. What sound card would you recommend?

Every computer has some form of audio jack in the rear. People commonly call a 1/8 inch jack a headphone jack, but that's just common parlance. It's used for many things.

If, in some indescribably unlikely circumstance, you don't have one, you could simply pick up an adapter for a few bucks, but I am an advocate of sound cards.

I personally use an Asus Xonar D2X. Those are hard to find, though. Anything from the Asus line is good. They weren't messing around when they designed their sound cards.

Creative is another obvious choice, but I haven't been back to them recently. They had a period when their drivers were a bit of a pain, but I've been told that's been sorted for several years now.

With either company, you'll be good. Neither of them make a single product that isn't worth buying, though I'd search in the upper end of their ranges, given the quality of the speakers you're considering.

Can these speakers be wired to an older stereo

I have an older steel that uses speaker wire will these work?
Yes. I've even wired them up in whole-home audio. They are more than happy to work with a stereo or even home theater system, if that's what you want to do with them.
