We have avoided buying A GPS though I have one for my laptop. I have researched a number of models and knew that Garmin was the highest rated and that the 255wt had everything I was looking for. It is easy to use for the basic operations but we did run into a problem where the system did not respond. We solved it by unplugging the USB charger and restoring to the original setup. We did not find the solution in the manual or the website. The screen is easy to use, even my wife liked it, and she was the biggest critic of a GPS. I'm sure there are others available with similar options but it just didn't seem like the chase was worth the catch.
What's great about it: Good price, easy to set up
What's not so great: Not a lot of instructions for a GPS novice, even on line
There is a slot to insert a media card similar to what you use in a digital camera. You can use that card to upload files to your Garmin or look at photos
I drive an RV and was looking for a truck option. At the time Garmin did not offer one but I bought the 255wt and was able to download low clearance info from another site for $19.95/yr
