Evil genius+ evil ship = one horrific film!

Hellraiser meets 2001. A new drive for space travel creates a dimensional gate to a place of pure evil. Terror and horrific events and scenes await those who are brave enough to watch.
Overall a fantastic movie, with only a few science based flubs in it. There are some mistakes such as sound in the vacuum of space, or water being in liquid form when there is supposed to sub-freezing temperatures.
Other than the minor mistakes, (you hardly notice them) this is a terrifying film that will make anyone, and I mean anyone, afraid of the dark once more.
What's great about it: Scary, terrifying, gory, creative movie.
What's not so great: Some physics are off

A fantastic tribute to a series cut short.

Mal, River, Wash, Zoe, Book, Inara, Jane, and River... and let's not forget Serenity herself. A fantastic conclusion to a series that was cut short and unfinished.
Wonderful and odd plot twists, evil yet charming villains, romance coupled with complete frustration. Serenity is filled with opposing forces that are in a constant state of flux.
An absolute must for any Firefly fanatic.
What's great about it: Great wrap up to a complex and unfinished series.
What's not so great: Some plot aspects deleted (but put into special features.)

2010... great reproduction of the novel

While not of the same level of sophistication of Kubrick's 2001, 2010 does create an environment in which you care about the fate of the characters, as well as a story that opens up ideas about the nature of life in our galaxy.
Although the political aspect of the film will need to be explained to anyone who does not remember the Cold War, the ideas about politics vs. science are valid and a worthwhile contribution to the plot.
A great film, one that I remember watching as a boy, and fostered a curiosity about the nature of science and life in our universe.
What's great about it: Nostalgic ideas about the future, interesting philosophical ideas about life in space
