As simple as it gets

Picked up the Sonos bridge and the unit that connects to a stereo tuner amp on recommendation of a colleague. This couldn't have been easier to implement - it is too bad every other wireless device doesn't work as easy as the Sonos gear! Pretty much just connect it to your network - load the software (I downloaded the latest from their web site) and press the button on the top of the unit. Even the firmware upgrade is simple and automated. Adding additional Sonos units is painless as well. I have this setup operating on the 2 GHz WiFi network on channel 1 whilst my normal data network is on channel 11 (so they don't interfere with each other). Extremely easy to access my iTunes library or one of thousands of Internet radio stations.
What's great about it: Great functionality and ease of setup
What's not so great: It is a bit pricy
I would recommend this to a friend!

Garmin continues to be a GPS leader
on December 25, 2010

I've owned a number of Garmin GPS units and added this one to the collection - as compared to older GPSMAP units this screen is great - much easier to use in the car. Plus: the human interface is much better as well.
The only frustration I have is today there are too many products out there from Garmin - takes too long to figure out the product features and differences. Alas - selected this one because it was on a great Black Friday sale.
Also supports a 4GB SanDisk flash memory device - much easier for getting things into the GPS (versus the old way of moving data over a slow USB connection).
What's great about it: Great screen - simple to use
What's not so great: Garmin web site is still difficult to navigate / use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Trash those junky remotes and get a Harmony
on December 25, 2010

Every device comes with a remote and I have a pile of them in front of our electronics center. The Logitech Harmony 650 was on sale on Black Friday and having seen a friend's unit I decided to pick this up.
This was EASY. Downloaded the software application from the Logitech web site, created an account (not sure why) and then used the wizard in the application to add all the devices in my entertainment system. Every one of them supported: Sony tuner/amp, Sony XBR television, DirecTV HD satellite receiver, DVD player, tape player and more.
Everything is done through the software program - and the results are downloaded to the remote. 100% of all functions that used to be controlled by separate remotes are now working with the Harmony 650. Very pleased.
What's great about it: Intuitive software used to program the remote
What's not so great: I like the larger screen of some of the more expensive Harmony units
I would recommend this to a friend!
