I bought this vacuum in Feb of 2009 after reading all the great reviews on this site. I have a Chow/Collie mix and deal with a lot of fur constantly covering the carpet and furniture, and this vac seemed like the way to go. At first I loved it. It seemed powerful and got the job done (although the attachments are a joke). However, 10 months later, it started having problems with the brush not turning and the belt breaking really easily (hate that burning rubber smell!). Thank goodness it was still under warranty so I could get it all fixed at no charge, but the man at the repair shop said to NEVER go bagless if you have an animal with long fur. A few weeks ago I decided to give up on the Bissel for good and find a new vac, this time with a bag. After lots of comparison shopping, I ended up with the Eureka Pet Lover bagged pet vac. It was on sale at Best Buy and got outstanding reviews. Everyone said the suction was better than a Dyson and one reviewer even said she had never gotten a clog in it like she had in other vacuums! The only criticism was that the construction seemed to be a little cheap. I agree...some of the plastic parts seem a little flimsy, but it absolutely gets up EVERYTHING from the carpet. I'm just hoping the performance of my new Eureka can outlast the old Bissell!
What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: heavy, loud, stopped working after less than a year
