Great beginning for Chris Tucker's career!

Back in 1995, as a 17 year old, I found this movie funny as hell. fastforward to 2013 and after viewing it again, I found that I was either more mature or the movie really wasn't as funny as I remember it. Overall, there is plenty to enjoy. From the soundtrack, to the cast of characters. Too bad they went ahead and made a more than sub par sequel.

Dustin Hoffman's body of work is very eclectic and full of great films. Cuba Gooding Jr. on the other hand was just coming into his own. This movie came out one year before his academy award winning performance in Jerry Maguire so, overall, the casting is spot on, the story is intriguing (Contagion copied some of it in 2011) and the outcome can be figured out halfway through the movie but it still is an entertaining movie.

Gore Bervinski's humble beginnings!

As a fan of Japanese horror movies I scoffed at the thought of an American version of "Ringu". Gore Verbinski did not seem like the guy to tackle such a story. At the time, he was known as the director of a cute kids movie named "Mouse hunt" and the god awful Brad Pitt/Julia Roberts train wreck named "The Mexican". Lo and behold, he pulled it off incredibly. The casting of Naomi Watts, hot of her performance in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive doesn't hurt either. The Cinematography is fantastic, the score, the story itself worked well. This one is a classic remake that worked.

What's great about it: Scares the hell out of you!
What's not so great: It's about a VHS tape and in todays world, some kids don't even know what that is.

A wild and tangled crime adventure involving gangsters, Irish gypsies, and a dog that can't stop swallowing things, SNATCH is both hilarious and action-packed. Jewel thief Franky Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) is in London en route to New York, where he will deliver an 86-karat diamond to his boss, Avi (Dennis Farina). a compulsive gambler, Franky is tempted into an illegal boxing scam, becoming the unwitting suspect in a robbery committed by bumbling pawnshop owners Vinny (Robbie Gee), Sol (Lennie James), and their oaf-of-a-driver, Tyrone (Ade). Meanwhile, novice boxing promoter Turkish (Jason Statham), and his dim-witted partner, Tommy (Stephen Graham), move into the big time with twisted crime boss, Brick Top (Alan Ford), and Mickey, a mumbling, unhinged Irish gypsy boxer (Brad Pitt). Leave it to Guy Ritchie who's humble beginnings with "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrel's" which feels like he came out of nowhere, teach us about the crazy world of gypsies, underground boxing and how to easily dispose of a body using pigs.
One of Brad Pitts best movies. An all star cast and a script that keeps things a brisk pace. This movie was not the smash hit everyone hoped it would be but it certainly has staying power.
Well worth the watch again and again.
