Big, ambitious fun that mostly hits the mark

I am really hooked on this game. I am a big fan of the AC universe, and I have yet to experience the fatigue of annual releases.
As someone who has actually played this game, I can say that it is a fine addition to the series. The new co-op play is something I have wanted for a long time. There is SO much to do with exploring and side quests. Murder mysteries are a nice little distraction, and a change of pace when you want a break from running, leaping, climbing, and stabbing.
Luckily, I have not experienced any of the game breaking bugs that everyone has read about. On the first day of play (launch day), I did have the game freeze up and kick me out to the PS4 home screen. But nothing since then.
My biggest complaint with this game is that the series seems to be veering away from a focus on the modern-day story. Most of that story has been revealed in documents that can be read in the game's database. I hope to see the First Civ/ precursor race become a bigger part of the story going forward.

From the moment I started playing this game, I played mostly every night for 3-4 hours per session. I somehow spent about 50 hours playing this game, doing main story missions, side-quests, and just running around goofing off killing orcs (or getting them to kill each other). The melee attacks are viscerally satisfying and over-the-top in this brutal rendition of a classic revenge tale.
As a ranger of Gondorr, you see your family killed, and you inherit superhuman powers to exact bloody vengeance on the armies of Sauron. Addictive leveling system keeps the fun going for hours.

Protect humanity's last hope in The Last of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4. This amazing gaming experience has had its fair share of nay-sayers, but with so much acclaim it seems like a difficult task to stand up to the spotlight. But this Remastered edition does just that. It took what was already the (arguably) best-looking game on last-gen and made it one of the best-looking games of this new console generation. It remains one of the best told stories in the history of video game stories. Characters and pacing and mood and dialogue... You can read about it from better writers than myself. Some people have said that it is slow at first, but then picks up after a couple hours. I don't know about that. I was hooked on this game from the opening segment. The first 30 minutes gives you some small indication about what to expect from the mood and pacing of the rest of the game.

Fun for kids and parents

My wife and I routinely join our daughter to watch the movies that she wants to see. We all like building LEGO and have done so together. We skipped this movie in the theaters, mainly because we weren't sure how you could really make a good movie that wasn't just a product tie-in/ cash grab. While the movie is definitely a success story in how to sell a lot more toys, it is also a very enjoyable story that we have watched multiple times now on Blu-Ray. Will Arnett is probably the stand-out as the Batman character, and the main song will likely get stuck in your head for a few days after watching. :)

When I first saw this game was releasing, I barely gave it a second glance. Another installment of a tired franchise, I thought. WRONG! Once i learned of the developer MachineGames pedigree (including people from Starbreeze Studios), I knew I had to give it some attention. I'm so glad i did. The shooter controls are tight, but better than that, the story and characters are really well done and not just tacked on as filler substance. At times, it has the presentation of an art film. It's got some really entertaining peripheral segments that lean heavy on philosophy and counter-culture abstraction.
The weapons feel good when you want to go all-out. But, there are plenty of competent stealth portions to satisfy that part of me that wants to dispense justice from the shadows, too. Without exaggerating, I would rank my experience with this game as almost on par with my appreciation of Half-Life 2 when it came out about 10 years ago.

Great start to a new generation

So, I have been looking forward to the launch of the PS4 for a while, and now that I have been playing around with it, I am not disappointed. The only game I have purchased so far is Killzone. The two free offerings with PS Plus are both pretty fun. The interface is the most striking change with the PS4. I love all the descriptions of each game with videos and concept art and behind the scenes stuff. I haven't played with any of the streaming aspects yet, but I am excited to see where the PS universe goes with it. Overall, the PS4 that exists now really shines with a lot of potential for what the PS4 is destined to become. I can't wait. Again. :)

Some people have qualms with the control scheme. I agree, in part, that the camera movements can be a little jarring at times. But, this appears to be an artifact of third-person gaming and not so much a unique problem of this game. The free-flow running and climbing is a wonderful and exciting innovation for action games. At times Ezio would go jumping somewhere I didn't want him to, but this has more to do with the shortcomings of the Xbox360 controller design. Overall, one of the most pleasing and gratifying games I have played all year, and I buy almost every top-rated title.
What's great about it: Intriguing story; novel presentation; great settings
What's not so great: Wish there was more. Guess I can start over and play again...
