I was very interested in getting this soundtrack because of the artists featured on it. I'm not afraid to admit that I'd heard a lot about such bands as My Morning Jacket, Wilco, and The Tings Tings but I was not familiar with any of their music or styles. So this soundtrack was a great education for me. And I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed with what I heard from each of these groups. I'm eager to get more music from these artists.
The surprise track for me was Scarlett Johansson's "Last Goodbye", the styling is very much like of Norah Jones, an all time favorite singer of mine. I also very much enjoyed Tristan Prettyman's "Madly", that one can stick in your head for awhile, in a very good way. Old favorites from The Human League, R.E.M., Talking Heads, The Replacements and The Cure add nostalgia and give the album a retro feel.
If you're looking for a good mix of great music familiar and new, this album definitely fits the bill.
