Learn more about Mass Effect. (Flash demo) Every 50,000 years, ancient machines swoop down and send the galaxy spinning into a continual cycle of extinction. Careful not to leave behind any evidence of their existence, these merciless machines have fooled everyone into thinking this deadly process is just a legendary hoax, but you know the truth. The most important struggle the galaxy has ever seen now needs your help. Join the fight against an alien onslaught and save the future of the universe.Take on the role of Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy and lead your elite recon squad in intense, real-time combat across a galaxy on the brink of turmoil and despair. Assume responsibility for the lives of your team members, whom you must rely on to stop the swarms of hostile alien enemies. The characters you control communicate via branching dialogue and display emotions through various facial expressions. This is an RPG that really thrusts you into the action. Choose your squad, weapons, skills and abilities, and customize your vehicles, armor and appearance. Most of all, harden your heart to face an enemy that lacks even an ounce of mercy.

Carrying your story over to the next game is amazi

I played this game three years ago (?) and loved it so much I did four complete playthroughs just to see what there was to do and to setup my saves for Mass Effect 2. After playing Mass Effect 2 I found myself wanting to go back yet again, because the ability to import your ME1 save into ME2 is just that amazing of a feature. The science-fiction story, combined with the feeling that your actions have a part in shaping the universe around you is quite good. ME1 may not be the best game now in 2010, but it was definitely in my top two for the year it did come out. Stop reading. GET IT.
What's great about it: Saves that export to the sequel, dialogue wheel, combat is pretty good
What's not so great: Inventory system, can be slow-going if you want to do EVERYTHING
I would recommend this to a friend!

Joss Whedon attempted to follow up his successful series Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the science fiction-themed Firefly. Although the series failed to garner a mass audience, it did have a loyal following. Those fans will be pleased by this box set that contains every episode of the series that aired, as well as three never-before-seen episodes. All 15 episodes are presented in anamorphic widescreen. English, French, and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Commentaries are available on four of the episodes. Production featurettes, a blooper reel, and a tour of the set with Whedon round out this solid package that should be of interest to genre enthusiasts as well as Whedon's fans.

Best, shortest series, ever

Most people already know about the show, or have watched the movie 'Serenity' already. My main two cents on this series is this: It gets better with repeated viewings. That is a pretty rare thing with television shows. It also leaves you craving more and wishing it didn't get cancelled.
What's great about it: Brilliant dialogue, (mostly) great stories
What's not so great: Only 12 episodes, the horrid theme song, River
