This Tv is way slimer than the previous model the 40a530.... it has rich colors, and deep black levels. The picture just looks so realistic. The price for this set makes it a steal! Speakers arent that great but i dont care i will soon be purchasing a home theater system. User friendly menus from the remote and many feature to enhance the picture quality.
What's great about it: Great Picture and Great Price
What's not so great: None
I would recommend this to a friend!

Tivo picture quality on an HD LCD
I'll soon be buying my first HDTV set, probably a 46" or 52" LCD Samsung. I do all my TV viewing on a series 2 (non-HD) Tivo in High or Best Quality. Will the picture quality look significantly worse when seen through the HDTV?
Well for one you def. wont be able to record any high def. chanels on your non HD Tivo... with you non HD tivo you will see a standard definition picture so its like having a non HD cable box with a HD capable TV.

I´m looking for a NTSC-PAL LCD TV. IS that possible in Best Buy?
The only TV i believe will have what you are looking for is the pioneer elite plasma tvs they are expensive but very well worth it they have one of the most respected plasmas in the market and the darkest black levels. Awesome TV!

Cable card slot
I am looking for a 46-52 in flat panel LCD Sony Bravia Pref.. We would be using direct TV most likely.Would we even need a tv with a cable card slot?
No you wont need a tv with a TV Cable Card slot.... The TV Cable Card slot allows you to eliminate having a cable box to receive cable by replacing it with a card which you would have to request from your cable company....This feature has now become more absolete among tvs i believe one of the only models Best Buy may carry with a Cable card slot is a Mitsubishi LCD 46" TV which also comes in a 52" it is a magnolia TV. If you are seeking a great 52" sony LCD check out the xbr8 this TV has LED backlighting technology and amazing picture quality! The XBR7 is also a great TV the 52" comes with 240hz so if your a sports fan or just love watching movies the processor will be able to keep up with any fast moving images. GOOD LUCK!
