Let me first start off by saying that I absolutely hate guitar hero. I'm not a fan of rock music and never felt like the game was for me, which it ultimately wasn't. I've never played the guitar, and It felt awkward to play.
DJ Hero is nothing like that. I knew going in that i'd love the music and boy was I right! The music in this game is unbelieveable. If you're a hip hop head, you must buy this game. Half of the fun was unlocking the next song and wondering what was going to come next. Funk, R&B classics, Techno, such a wide variety of mashups. There's something that everyone will know and enjoy, unlike Guitar Hero, which was strictly Rock. Even my mom was nodding her head and wanting to spin the turntable.
It has a steep learning curve, but give it a few hours and you'll be ready to move up in difficulty. I never felt like the game was too hard or that with practice, I wouldn't be able to master it. Warning, it's also incredibly addicting! The turntable's built well and looks like it'll be able to take years of spinning and scratching.
Tons of unlockables, characters like Grandmaster Flash and DJ Jazzy Jeff, great for hip hop fans! I was a little scared that I wouldn't like the turntable, much like I hated the Guitar Hero guitars, but the turntable feels comfortable after a short time.
The price point of this game turned me off when it came out during the 2009 holiday season, but with the turntable and game retailing for $40, I knew I had to pick it up. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with a video game.
One of the greatest games I've ever played. You know this game is legit when there's music from people like DJ Shadow and Grandmaster Flash. If you are a fan of Hip Hop, buy this game NOW!! End of story. Go get to scratching!
What's great about it: Everything, but most of all, the music! So much fun!
What's not so great: Nothing, the cross fade slider should stick more in the middle. It's a multiplier killer!
