AveryS's Reviews

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar Games has yet created and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on the PlayStation 3 system. Grand Theft Auto V ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.

Best GTA I've played

First off, DO NOT let children younger than 17 play or even watch gameplay of this game. There are very mature themes and sequences that kids shouldn't see or hear. Be a responsible parent and say no.
Now that doesn't mean this game is bad. It's an excellent parody of American middle class. But there are a few moments where even adults may find themselves uncomfortable, so it really is a game for a mature audience.
My only real complaints about the game are with the vehicles. Cars still have butter-slick wheels, but the potential for crazy and funny incidents make it okay. Planes aren't too bad, but the inability to change the controls means dealing with unintentional movements sometimes. Helicopters are awful, especially compared to the previous game. Even with maxed out flight skill, they will still wobble and sway making flying straight virtually impossible. Flying helis was my favorite thing on GTA IV, so Rockstar disappointed me with this.
Literally everything else in the game is great. I'm surprised at how well the game looks and runs on current gen consoles. The story is much, much better than GTA IV. Every character feels dynamic and necessary rather than just there. Fighting and shooting mechanics are a nice improvement. There's so much to do from tennis to diving, and they all contribute to improving your character skills. Missions are also very dynamic, and you never feel like you are doing the same thing over and over. You are guaranteed to be busy with the story mode for tens of hours, and you'll easily enjoy it.
This game is already worth every penny, and the online isn't even out yet. The online will easily add even more fun into the equation - playing with friends and doing everything from robbing a bank to coordinating a parachute drop, and even conventional game modes like death matches and races. This game is a must buy, hands down.

What's great about it: Engaging story and interesting missions, dynamic characters, big areas to explore
What's not so great: Limited controls options, helicopter handling a downgrade from GTA IV

Good for people trying out PS+ service

PlayStation Plus offers a great deal for the money it costs. As an owner of a PlayStation 3 and a PlayStation Vita, the Instant Game Collection that comes with PS+ has provided me with many games that I wouldn't have played otherwise. I have also saved some decent money by buying digital games when they are further discounted for PS+ members. The 3-month card is good for people who want to try the service out, but I would recommend opting for the 12-month subscription if you are adding to your current subscription or plan on playing online multiplayer games on the upcoming PlayStation 4.

Not the best, but it has a meaning behind it
on September 17, 2010

I will say this: if you want Hybrid Theory style Linkin Park, this is not it. You can't say it is bad, because A Thousand Suns is a concept album, and an experiment by LP. If you listen carefully to the lyrics and quotes, it is clear that this album deals with the effects of nuclear warfare, a message that most would find enlightening in today's society.
In short, A Thousand Suns is not what people would normally expect out of Linkin Park, but it has a deep meaning behind it. So, before you listen to the reviews for A Thousand Suns about what they want it to be, keep in mind what the artists meant for it to be.
What's great about it: It's a concept album on nuclear warfare
What's not so great: It will not please old-school LP fans
