You Must Own This Game

If this game came without having any single player/offline mode at all it would still be worth every penny. The leveling system in the multiplayer mode is well designed and leads to extremely addictive gaming habits. The features and perks that you gain as you level up are fun and valuable but at the same time its very easy for a level 1 player to compete with a player who is a much higher level if they have a similar skill level. That is to say that the perks and benefits that come with leveling do not make the game lopsided and ruin the fun for those who are just starting out. The online community for this game is huge and you will have no troubles jumping right into a game.
The single player mode is solid and makes for good fun but once you get started on the multiplayer you may not return to the single player missions ever again. Battling the unimpessively smart AI enemies just loses its fun once you've felt the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat that can only come when matched against a 12 year old from half-way around the world.
Pick up this game now - its been out for a while so its only about 30 bucks which is an amazing value. Modern Warfare 2 won't be out for 5 months or so and this game is too good to spend 150 more days not playing it!
What's great about it: Multiplayer gameplay and leveling system, graphics, weapons,
What's not so great: No co-op mode, single player somewhat repetitive
I would recommend this to a friend!

Learn more about Resistance: Fall of Man. (Flash demo) For decades, populations across Europe and Asia have felt the fury of Chimera: a rapidly mutating parasite that infects other forms of life, rendering its victims into new Chimera. The unstoppable spread of this deadly disease has made its way to the shores of England in Fall of Man. It's now 1951, and while playing the part of U.S. Army Ranger Nathan Hale, you must fight alongside a group of British resistance soldiers in a last-ditch effort to free England and the rest of the world from the stranglehold of this ruinous plague.Exotic weapons and vehicles team with proprietary physics to create a unique human and Chimeran arsenal. While on your mission, you'll encounter lifelike characters and creatures who display sophisticated behaviors and interactions in complex environments for an immersive experience. You'll be subjected to the chaos of large, crowded battlefields in close combat within infested military command centers and decimated urban landscapes based on actual locations in Great Britain.

Good - but not great

This game deserved the praise it received when it was first released as it was one of the best PS3 games available AT THE TIME - however if you're looking right now for a first person shooter there are others out there that are easily superior.
The game play iitself is pretty basic FPS and overall it is solid. The single player story mode is of good length and it is definitely a fun play.
My biggest issue with the game was the difficulty curve. On the default difficulty settings, the fist 85% of the game is far too easy. I was going from level to level with ease and rarely dying at all. However, when I got into the last 3 or 4 levels, the game became impossibly hard. Not only was it extremely difficult but the save points got very spaced out so that dying caused me to have to replay huge chunks of the game over and over again. Even though I had fun along the way, toward the end of the game I just wanted it to be over as it was becoming very frustrating and repetitive playing the same extremely difficult parts of the game over and over again.
Another thing that caused the game to start getting boring was the lack of bad guy diversity. The aliens in the game are cool enough but you fight the same basic foot soldier type though the entire game and there are only 4 or 5 different types that you see consistently. While there are a couple of impressive boss-type characters throughout the game there aren't really any outstanding or memorable boss battles.
This game is sometimes being included when you buy a PS3 (that's how I ended up with it) and if that is the case its a great game to get basically for free and you should definitely play it. However, if you are looking for a new game there are several first person shooters that have come out since this game that would be more worthwhile.
What's great about it: Fun gameplay, good price, decent length
What's not so great: awkward balance of difficulty, somewhat repetitive

For the wanna-be rock star in all of us

This is a fantastic game that exceeds on all levels. It's a great way to involve friends and family that aren't normally interested in video games (girlfriends and wives especially!) and its just a lot of fun to play. The character creation is versatile and its easy to make your own unique character that doesn't look like anyone else's.
There is a wide range of song styles that span several decades so there is something that appeals to just about everyone. The story mode can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be depending on your skill level and how much you want to be challenged.
If you don't frequently have a group to play with and you still want to enjoy the band experience with others, online play is fast and its easy to jump right into some rock with some total strangers.
Its understandable to be hesitant to shell out so much for a single game but I promise you will easily get 3 times the man-hours of enjoyable gaming out of this game than that of another game. Plus, once you have the instruments you can purchase Rock Band 1 (game only) and double your amount of songs for just $40.
What's great about it: Fun, addictive, good for all ages, great songs, online play so you can still rock alone
What's not so great: expensive if you need to buy all the instruments too
