Whenever I would think of Mandy Moore the singer, the image of her from 2000 singing about candy would come to mind. Although after listening to 'Amanda Leigh' that image has definitely been shattered. Once a member of the pop mainstream, she breaks the preconceived notion that even her more matured albums would still be clinging to what made her famous. I personally only knew her singles from 2000 and never listened to her again, but I am very glad this CD came my way. The songs sound very stripped down and basic, but the instrumentation are done wonderfully and are anything but. The music doesn’t overshadow Mandy; in fact her voice is complimented by it. The overall sound is mellow, calming but with catchy hooks that I can easily see being stuck in my head once I turn this CD off. A great alternative pop album, for anyone.
What's great about it: Shatters old conceptions you may have had from her earlier work, shows how talented Mandy is.
What's not so great: Not nearly as poppy as some of her previous work, which may disappoint some fans.
